Hello I hope someone can guide me on how to make a strong complaint.

My younger sister had most of her lung removed for lung cancer last october.

She then began a course of chemotherapy. Early December she was admitted back into hospital with severe head pain and lower leg pain.

On CT scanning it was revealed that she had a large clot in her leg and was treated with aspirin. We were told that to do anything surgically would be dangerous.

The scan on her head revealed a blood clot in her brain.

She was discharged and referred back to her cancer doctor who stopped the chemo and organised an MRI.

This took place last week and revealed that she now has multiple clots forming.

She has now been referred to a blood specialist who will organize daily injections of warfarin.

Her eyesight is badly affected and she shuffles about because of this. My sister is 40.

My complaint is based on why she was not followed up whilst she was an in patient when they discovered the first blood clot to her brain.

Even her cancer doctor queried this whilst explaining how serious this is.

Thank you for any advice.

Further to the above post we met with doctor today who has diagnosed the clots as three strokes.

Im angry that this was not picked up whilst she was an in patient. It would seem she was having the strokes whilst in hospital.

Further scans are being arranged to ensure there are no active cancer cells which apparently may be responsible for the clotting.
