In the Daily Mirror edition of Thursday 13th September it states that the banks had reached a secret agreement with the Financial Ombudsman to stall any High Court action by the FO on bank charges and pay up anyone who has complained to them(the FO), as this will indeed set a precedent if it went to court. It also says that this is a more effective way of getting your money back rather than the courts which is now very much touch and go, what with stays, strike outs, payment delays from the banks.

What do you all think? Shall we all go through the FO route and forsake the court route?

Yes - but they dont seem to have decided what to do with them - it looks like they are going to pursue the same tactic as with bank charges - e.g - pay out in full after a long delay.

A £35 pound bank charge is not a charge for a service. Its theft.
