  1. I just have to inform you of the way I have been dealt with by Saga Home Insurance. I had an accident at home, I tripped and fell on my laptop as I was going outside, as I am not the smallest of people not only did I look and feel too well the laptop was toast. It had a lot of damage but as I have accidental damage on my home insurance and have had for the last 15 years, I have only ever made one claim for a carpet the kids spilt paint on some seven years ago I rang Saga to see if I was covered. They arranged to have it collected by a company CIIS, in two days’ time. I asked if I could keep my hard drive as it had files on it I needed she said that’s fine. I expected a little delay as the bank holiday weekend was upon us and called Saga a week after it was collected. They informed me that the report from CIIS had arrived that day and a claims adjuster would call me. That day they called and arranged a telephone interview for a few days later. On that call I was asked several questions like the ones you have when you fill in the application form, then the questions started, have you had insurance before, who was it with, who was it the year before that, when did you buy it, how much was it have you got the receipt and more questions not relevant to the claim. I told her I paid cash for the computer some 7 years ago and didn’t have the receipt, she said they would need a bank statement to show the money withdraw I explained I didn’t have this and have moved banks since and didn’t think I had withdrawn cash from the bank to buy it. She demanded pictures of where the accident happened as well as the hard drive to show proof of ownership. I have the owner’s manual and original recovery disc, power supply but refused to give up my hard drive. Having been a victim of identity fraud as well as a computer security consultant I know how much data can be recovered from people’s hard drives. I have never been questioned in such away, I was made to feel like I was a criminal. I sent her the photographs of where I fell as well as the picture of the cuts and bruising I suffered, thanks to my wife who said to take pictures of my leg just in case. She informed me of receipt of the information and informed me they would investigate and wait for the final report from CIIS, who had sent a report a week ago so I don’t know what that is about. I rang today to be told they are still investigating and they didn’t know when a decision would be made. They are quick enough taking the premium but want you all to know, a cheap quote even off a supposed good company isn’t always the best.
  2. Hi there I am looking for some advice. Back in February, I was contacted by a company called Click On Marketing Solutions who said they could promote my new business on Google to create extra traffic to my website. I had just set up my own Childminding business and was seeking new customers so this seemed like a good idea. I paid the fee and they would promote my website for 30 days. I could stop and start the 30 days when i wanted. Use a few days here and there etc. I eventually got some customers so I decided to stop my days and start them up again coming upto the school hols. They phoned me a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to continue as I had 15 days left so I agreed. I then checked my bank account yesterday and on 24th July they had debited me for £118.30. I phoned them straight away as I only signed up for the 30 days. It was not explained to me in the initial phone call that I would be debited once I had used all my days. I spoke to an advisor who advised yesterday that I am supposed to cancel my subscription by giving 30 days notice or I will be debited each month. Now none of this was explained to me when I signed up. He said that he emailed me the t & cs when I signed up which he didn't. So initially I paid for 30 days advertising when I signed up so if I have to give 30 days notice to cancel then I would lose any remainding days I had left which I have paid for? I have cancelled this yesterday but he says I will more than likely be debited again next month as I have not given 30 days notice. I cannot afford to pay this. I feel like I have been misold this as none of this was explained to me from the start. I have emailed the bloke I spoke to twice yesterday and he has not replied to my emails. He is quick enough to call me when he wants my money but when I have a complaint he doesn't want to know. Please help me as this debit has now put us in the red. I hope I have explained myself well enough, it is all very confusing. Their website is [edit] Many thanks
  3. i felt like writing to barcleys this morning - not with any real hopes but just to rub it in Dear Barcleys i not with intrest that you have recently been fined for manipulating the LIBOR rates as the halifax decided to raise my intrest rates on my morgage due to the rise in this rate dispite the general intrest rate not rising i feel that it is reasonable to say that you have fraudulantly increased the rate of my morgage therefore i would like a refund of all the increased premiums due to this thank you XXXXXXXXXX XXXX
  4. My laptop fried so I claimed my house contents insurance with the Halifax. It wasn't a hugely expensive laptop and there was a £200 excess but I went ahead as I couldn't afford to replace at the time. The claim was accepted and they sent me out a new laptop. It was £399.97 and exceeds the specs of my old machine which was a few years old. On getting it set up today I've realised I really don't like it. It's not the performance of it but partly the aesthetics and partly quality. I hate the style of it (black glossy fingerprint magnet) and it also has a dull screen image. I don't know whether I'm being overcritical as I'm ****ed off that they pick the model for you (a bit crap since I've in essence paid more than they did) or whether I've got a valid issue. Would I have a leg to stand on as regards forcing them to change it or are these sort of things legally bulletproof.
