  1. Some further information: If you have no policy number- write to the insurance/ assurance customer services department (or their successor) and include details of the policyholder's name, date of birth and address where payment was last made from. Plus, if you have them, the policy number and the method of payment, for example, was it direct debit or door-to-door? If you have no information at all but suspect that a life assurance policy exists you can contact the Find Your Lost Assets and Pensions Yourself- a database of unclaimed life policies, pensions, unit trust holdings, and share dividends from many companies, including the Prudential. The UAR charges £18 for each search. As its a paid for search at £18, be on safe side and get them to check for anything. Also, ring the Association of British Insurers (020 7216 7455). That should take you through to lost policies, might try there first before UAR. If they can't help, ask them how you would go about it. If the policies were up to date it appears there is no time limit on paying out to an estate. Hope something comes from this. Please update to let us know how you both get on
  2. Another tune from all of us Tilly, just for you. Gerry and Pacemakers YouTube - Gerry The Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone (Note to all- I deliberately did not use football fan versions to avoid footie discussion on this thread)
  3. Had to double read that. Thought you said "throw a sleeping bag in the boot with the body" Of course, you might end up saying that at some point over the weekend anyway knowing you lot!!
  4. Thanks Locutus, that was helpful. I tried the post code checker but mine did not show up. I have sent them an e mail asking when/ if it is coming to my area. I have 3 DAB radios (don't ask), that I brought with me.
  5. On a similar topic. DAB radio. Does anyone know if the whole of the UK will be covered?? I'm thinking of all the rural and Island areas of Northern Scotland.
  6. I'm going to be cheeky....................... BUMP. Crush, need to amend the rules now.
  7. You will find it Tilly and you will get there. Honest. Things do work out eventually and its YOUR TURN. Think where you want to be, what you want from life. With your grit, your personality, and support, you will get there. In a while, you will look back. It will be different then and better!!
  8. As Crusher says, a warm welcome and glad you like the site!! Any questions, please just ask, everyone is very helpful. In the meantime, here is a guide to help you around the site. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/welcome-consumer-forums/107001-how-do-i-dummies.html
  9. Excellent news Bo. Very pleased for you as I know you have probs with lappy. Great that the car car insurance is resolved as well. Might be an idea to check your useage and possibly increase DD as you don't want a problem to emerge later. Better still, consider shopping around and see if you can access a better deal off someone else. Mr Bo might not need a jumper- plenty of other ways to keep warm. Mrs KTC and me saving money on the bath water!!

  11. No probs! To get the DCA off your back, write to them telling them that the account is in Dispute due to bank charges. There is a template for this which I will post a link to. Do not sign that letter- use capitals and do not speak to them on phone. Everything in writing and keep copies. Which DCA is it? There is further action that we can possibly take as well. Will post this later. PS don't worry as we will help you through this.
  12. Hello there and a warm welcome to CAG. Firstly can you please confirm if you live in the UK or are you living in Australia, as your post seems to indicate? Thanks and enjoy looking around the site in the meantime.
