Hi kbv1

When you file with the court, they issue the papers and set a date at which the papers are deemed served (a few days later). From the date of service, Nationwide have 28 days to register a defence.

At present, their normal tactic is to immediately tell the court that they dispute the whole claim and will be defending it. They send you a letter saying that a solicitors have been appointed to deal with it - in my case a named person at Eversheds in Cardiff. It all looks very frightening:o

In my case, they filed the defence just before the deadline, pleading that they had already paid me in full on 23rd. In fact, the money has still not been paid, but obviously they will be paying up now.

Hope this answers your question. Just stick to your guns:-D
