Hi everyone.

I am currently having battles with halifax, but my niece wants me to do her barclays for her.

So here i am...! :p

Anyway she brought statements round, it is a closed account, so there was only £770.00.

I have just sorted them all out, and they have sent double statements so there is only £410.00.

She is not going to be a happy bunny..!

So im just off to do the prelim and get it posted off.

I have noticed that barclays are fighting more than haliprats.

So hope this will be an easy run as its not a massive amount. But she has plenty more for me to do.......

Hi SSL,

As you'll know from my thread, Barclays are just too busy to be 'with it' enough to settle early, so they're taking all the claims very close to the line. I spoke to a guy about my husband's claim today and he said that they just can't settle any claim earlier than the ones with imminent hearings as they take priority over all others. A pain really, but there you go..think of it as more leverage when you settle for the full amount and not a penny less :)

Hi, Can anyone give me some encouragement. Had an answer to my first letter from Barclays saying sorry but they won't give me back my money. Am about to send second letter, would it be ok to remind them that I wouldn't have an unauthorised overdraft if they hadn't taken £900 in charges in the last six months

Hi bistrobabe.

It is always a good idea to start your own thread so that people can keep up with you.

At the bottom of the threads there is a box NEW THREADS.

Click there and that will become your thread, and you keep adding to it. ;)

With your clai, i take it you have sent your S.A.R. and your prelim?

If so then send lba but i wouldnt bother adding the extra info as they are just going through the motions with the letters.

My neice`s claim is for £410. She has just got an offer for £385.

Is there a chance they will offer the full total if she rings them. I know haliprats tend to give in at this stage, not sure about barclays though.

you could try but i don't think they will budge.

here's a number 020 7116 5634 .

it's like deal or no deal lol.personally i would take it but you never know they may offer full amount.no harm in trying and they are quite reasonable to talk to.

SSL, I think it is defo worth a call. It's only another £25 they have to raise and I'm sure if she pushes them they'll offer the full amount and get it over with. If they don't tell her to say fine, I'll proceed as normal. They'll soon be calling her to settle the full amount :)

Well i had a word with my niece and as its her first claim (in a long line  ) she wants to accept this one and get a bit of money in her account.

So she is accepting. I have drawn up the acceptance letter and will post it on monday.

How long do they normally take to pay up once the acceptance letter has arrived?

Fair enough :) I think they can take up to 10 days to pay, as it's a small amount, and there's no imminent court hearing for it to be settled urgently. If you don't see the money by say 7 days, give them a chaser.

She phoned again, and got a snotty woman this time.

She said they had not recieved the acceptance and she has to send another which my niece has to fax, and it could take another 14 days.

So it seems they ignore the fact we have proof of postage with recorded delivery.

That's not on at all. I'd call back and say if the payment isn't made within say 48 hrs that you will re-commence court proceedings.

I have a number for a guy in the Barclays lit. team - don't know if it helps but you could try calling him, he's been quite helpful to me? Tom Hickey: 0207-1164523
