hi i joined virgin over a year ago the diamond one , when i wanted to end my agreement i told a member of staff at reception , i was told this would be ok and i left it at that , i wasnt told to put it in writing , a few weeks later i recieved a letter saying i was in arrears and to pay the arrears. i rang them and they asked if i had put it in writing i explained that the receptionist didnt advise me to do that . i got a second letter i rang again telling them i cant afford the payments because of financial difficulties they wanted proof of this i.e. a statement which i sent , they repied saying this was not enough and they wanted more proof , i refused to send anymore proof because i had complied with there request . i refuse to pay this and have a second letter from munns solicitors with charges added on it says debt balance249.74

court fee 15.00

solicitors 50.00

interest due 19.98

i am going to fight this in court if i have to and i have also sent a letter to virgin telling them that i will print flyers giving people an informed choice of which gymm to join in preston.any advice please

Think you made a booboo by not putting it in writing. Don't know the agreement type but if they have a good one you will struggle to defend it. Maybe you should ask for a copy of the agreement as a starter.
