  1. Thanks for moving the thread. Yes, it was RIGP Finance but unfortunately we don't have the paperwork now.
  2. One more thought - the loan was paid off in 2004, so the records should have been kept until 2010 and I think that BH took over RIGP by then.
  3. Darn it, I can't find it, it's not where I usually leave correspondence... I'll have a thorough search for it later. Essentially, it said that there were no records relating to that name. They even took the £10 fee, I've had that refunded before when they've found nothing!
  4. This is an interesting thread - I've recently received a letter from Black Horse Finance (who are part of the Lloyds group) to a SAR for records relating to a RIGP loan taken out in 1998, as they took over RIGP. Do you think that it's likely that they're fobbing me off?
  5. Well, I heard back from FP on 19th Dec, they have passed it on to Capone (no contact details provided), and they have "asked them to investigate in line with their current complaints procedures". Allowing for delays in Xmas post, the 8 weeks is up so I called FP to ask where it had been sent. Told that I would have to look for that online! She also said that it would be up to me to contact Capone, as their sending them to docs was simply putting them on notice of my complaint. That's not what it said in their letter. Can't phone Capone, as there are only 2 numbers for phoning from abroad and they both go dead. So I've got to resubmit all the paperwork. I'm posting this as an example of how they mess you about, feeling quite despondent right now.
  6. Hi gerson, with recorded delivery you're given a reference number (13 figures I think), in Britain it's prefixed GB. As I'm in Italy it's prefixed IT, so I think that 13 figure ref is an international standard. You go onto Track and Trace on the Royal Mail website and enter the reference. I got the date and time of delivery plus a copy of the electronic signature. I'd heard that you could do that but when I asked at the Post Office here they said that it wasn't possible (but then Italian online services are prehistoric compared with Britain's, and they're obviously not up to date on how these things work abroad), so I filled out a receipt postcard that never arrived!
  7. I have received a reply to a SAR request from Firstplus. I got my loan back in 2002 through a small financial services firm, but the documentation states that the 'dealer' is Capital One Homeowner Loans. I never had any contact with them, but I suppose that the small firm must have gone through them, so it appears that there are 3 firms involved! Looking at other posts I'm unclear about the position of brokers - some say that under the CCA 1974, ss. 56 & 75, the lender is responsible - does anyone have any experience/success in quoting this legislation?
  8. Update - my SAR reply arrived within a couple of weeks with no problems or identity requests. If anyone abroad posts mail by recorded delivery, it is also worth noting that you can get the delivery details from the Royal Mail website, as they log recorded mail also from abroad.
  9. Interesting point Andy - it doesn't apply in my case but with so many unique cases on this forum I'm sure that someone else may find this a useful argument.
  10. Thanks Gerson and PPI Challenger for your replies. Yes, despite all the horror stories about our postal system I find them very reliable so I'll have to keep on the ball with any fob-off excuses. Good luck with your claims too.
  11. Hi Finlander, what was the outcome of this, did they cave in? Just starting my FP claim and found this thread very useful indeed! Thanks!
  12. Thanks a lot t18con, that is encouraging. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess!
  13. Thanks Gerson. Just posted my SAR, drat - could have added those!
  14. Thanks renegadeimp, I thought that was the case. Just remembered another with BHS (was a shopaholic back then, I live more frugally now!), so once I'm underway with FP I might see if there's anything to be obtained re. the store cards.
  15. Hi, just getting underway with going after Firstplus, and I have just remembered - during the period from 1996 to 2004 I had 3 store cards, but I no longer have any documentation. They were with Debenhams, Monsoon and Ikea. I gather that a credit history report is no good as details are removed 6 years after the end of the contract. Is it worth approaching the companies themselves or would they not have documentation from that long ago?
  16. Hi, this is my first post, just got an office copy of a secured loan deed from the Land Registry and found that I was mis-sold PPI. I'm currently doing a load of research before I claim, but I now live over the Channel in continental Europe, has anyone had any experience of making a claim from abroad? I realise that there will be some postal delay, but have any lenders tried to make things difficult because of this?
