  1. My option was find my own voluntary work within 4 weeks or be put on mandatory work placement - my advisor said for people who have a previous history of employment part time voluntary work would be seen sufficient to get u back into a pro-active routine instead of the mandatory work placement maybe 2 or 3 days a week for a few months and see how things go
  2. yes they mandated my partener to do work placement and he is on Esa an has been since he turned 18 hes now 30 so he found his own voluntary work at a sue ryder shop before they did
  3. There wnt be thousands of people signing everyday its only people who hav finished at the work programme and not doing voluntary work its about 200,000 for the whole country and most will be sent on the mandatory work placements so my guess is they will hav the "dregs" signing everyday the one they suspect of being alcoholics or addicts and come to sign on look worse for wear as they wont get taken on for placements and the rest will be people waiting for a vacant placement to be sent on an they will have u spend a full afternoon on a pc doing jobsearch
  4. Yes i get my signin on day off so he wants me to use the computer in the jobcentre that day an to log into universal job match once or twice a week where he will hav sent me sum jobs he has found for me
  5. had my appointment today and yes i have 4 weeks to either find my own voluntary work for a charity or if i cnt find any i go on help to work placement under the mandatory work scheme which will be 30 hours per week for 4-6 weeks either in a charity shop/ tescos either bag packing or litter picking in the carpark or at local recycling plant picking objects out of rubbish as it comes down the line but you dnt get to choose which as they just send u on the first available placement
  6. yes its basicaly the same system except the Help To Work Scheme Replaces Post Work Programme Support
  7. i had to get 2 buses to get to my placement - a total of 65 minutes travel time each way altogether but i got ill and was taken off it when i went on Esa for a few weeks
  8. yea its true i had the same what they do is wait until there is say group of 10 frm your jobcentre are sent to them then they send u on your placements which they make sure are within 90 minutes travel time each way to where u live
  9. it will be a work placement through Learn Direct
  10. The new Help to work scheme only affects people like me who have finished the Work programme and are at Post- Work Programme Support which is being scrapped in favour of the new Help To Work Scheme - so im dreading my appointment that i have booked with my advisor for 11am tomorrow with it being the first appointment under the new scheme
  11. Thats me ringin all the local charity shops then lol
  12. Yes it will be in every jobcentre as of today and will affect anybody claiming jsa for 2 or more years and not currently under taking any voluntary work or training
  13. Yea that was the same as me so this wont affect you until you've been at wp for 12 months so that will be next feb for you so u should be safe
  14. How long do u hav to be claiming jsa before they send u to wp - it was 12 months for me so it would only effect people who hav completed 12 months at wp if its the same where u are and also people who are already doing voluntary work off their own bat will probably be excluded
  15. Ive already been asked to go in weekely to see my advisor coz im on Post Work prorgram support so i guess i now go on to this new Help To Work Scheme
  16. So as of to today the new scheme called The Help To Work Programme starts at Jobcentre Plus and Will affect anybody claiming Jsa for 2 or more years - it consists of signing on everyday or a 4 week voluntary work placement Or upto a 6 month placement that includes a training scheme
  17. I was on jsa and was at the Post-work-programme-support stage but had to sign off onto Esa after my 3rd period of sickness in 12months even though it only lasted 3 weeks -when i go back to make a new claim for Jsa at end of next week does anybody know if i go back to post work programme support? Or will i be treated as a new claim an go right back to the start? Any help is much appreciated thanks x
  18. i got my doctors note and was awarded Esa for 3 weeks but it ends wednesday coz im better now as it was for bronchitis so i open a new Jsa claim again on thursday but does anybody know where i will start frm as during my old jsa claim which ended 2 weeks ago i was at post work program support stage -does my new claim mean i go back to the start as a new customer or not?
  19. so how will they check if i was fit for work or not when mine only lasts 10days? By the time they want to asses me i be back on jsa hopefully
  20. i got my doctors note but it is only for 10days so do i just move frm jsa to Esa for 10 days then back to Esa? Any help much appreciated x
  21. And the 3 day thing is when you ring in sick your only allowed to ring in 3 times on the trott to cancel appointments so when u ring in its always best to tell them how long you think you need off before they rearrange your original appointment coz if u miss 4 appointments on the bounce they are required to alert Dwp incase you are on the wrong benefit and should be on Esa not jsa
  22. If its an actual job then yea u will get paid your wages by the employer but if it is a training program frm the jobcentre then i dont think they do
  23. No they only have to pay your expenses
