Yes thats what i think that the gp has wasted everyones time involved, steriods are the only thing that seems to have any impact on her condition. the gp suggested i go back to another treatment which we have tried in the past and it has failed) The way I see it, is that it is highly unprofessional to handle the matter in this way, by disregarding the specialists advice my daughter has suffered and it leaves the patient helpless in the middle of it all, and that is not right nor fair and a waste of nhs money and time.

There is only 1 practice in a 17 mile radius, doesn't leave us much choice.

If she is still under the specialist (which she is) what are we supposed to do? are we to make an appointment with the gp overriding the decision of the specialist, then go back to the specilist in a couple of weeks only to be switched back to the original treatment? then when we run out get refused again and start something else and so on seems odd to me. this is ping pong doctoring.

I understand what you are saying, she as another appointment in march. What I find unprofessional is that a specialist in their field has suggested the treatment continue and the gp is trying to cut her out of the picture and suggest treatment we have already tried and treatment that has already failed hence wasting everybodys time. Is the gp allowed to override the decision of a specialist?

Hi there I wonder if anyone can offer any advice please? My daughter was referred due to a skin condition to a consultant dermatologist. Before she was referred our gp prescribed a steroid mousse, which has worked wonders. We then saw the specialist who advised that we carry on with the mousse until our next appointment. After a few months we ran out and asked our gp to prescribe more. he has refused. He said that he doesnt think it is the right treatment for her condition and suggested we go back into the surgery to discuss other treatments. The specialist has faxed over her recommendations to him to carry on with the treatment, yet he refused yet again to prescribe and he refuses to refer the case to any other gp in the practice. I am confused as to why he is not taking the advice of the expert in his field and remains stubborn, in the meantime my daughter is suffering from an outbreak due to lack of medication. we ave asked the specialst to prescribe us directly, awaiting an answer this is all very akward and the practice manager of the surgery refuses to help us. advice very welcome thank you
  8. for example being treated at the hospital,
  9. It was brought up at a gathering before christmas, the hospital said that her records are all accessable on the system and that in order for staff to access them, the patient would need to be present.
  10. My mother has since telephoned the hospital and they ran checks they said noone has viewed her file other than relevant staff back when she was in hosital some years ago. How can we be sure they are telling the truth? x
  11. It's a shame there isn't a nationl database as then it would be easier to monitor one would think. Thank you for moving me to the appropriate section.
  12. It would be hard to say if it was paper or electronic or if it had happened, maybe they had a work collegue take a look, but even more worrying is that they dropped something into the conversation that has never been discussed outside that hospital. My mother is distraught as she still feels all this pain years on, I don not understand why anyone from that hospital should have accessed her records or why as noone there has been responsible for her care for many years now.
  13. Ok thank you feebee. I do not know if there is a national database where people from anywhere can view newer records relating to her health or just the ones from that hospital?
  14. Hello everyone Just after a bit of advice please, my mother fears that her health records have been accessed by a member of our family. Without going into detail there is private information (ony held on file) which was brought up in coversation by this family member who works at a hospital. My mother has not attended this hospital since her toubles 12 years ago. We do not want to make matters worse in the family and accuse this person, so how would we discover if they have indeed been snooping at her files whilst on shift? Thanks all
  15. tenant has now been spoken to, they didnt think that they had to put their notice in writing, thought they could leave when they liked without telling us formally. They complained over the phone about a number of 'issues' with the house, which they didnt see fit to mention before. They not happy that we have told them they need to pay for leaving early and thought they could stay into another month without paying for that month. we have agreed to early termination and are currently awaiting their written notice. if their new property falls through, we will not be renewing any tenancy with them, we have decided to sell and move on to another project.
