  1. Hiya everyone, I bought a washing machine from my friends catalogue 2 months ago. The waste pipe (well ? the pipe that drains the water inside the machine) is now leaking due to a tear. Littlewoods have said that they wont replace it as it was probably caused by a bra wire. I always, always, always put my bra's inside a pillow case. The only time a bra has been randomly floating around in my machine is when my partner did his annual ''helping out session'', the 3rd week we had it, but the wire was and still is very much intact. What rights do I have in regard to this. It was supposed to be guaranteed and Im still paying for it. Thanks again Claire
  2. Great tip, my 12yr old wanted to help decorate her room and managed to get paint on handle. DEF gonna use your tip. Thanks again. Claire x
  3. Watchinginvestigation is right dont panic, your letting your mind run riot. Easy for us to say I know, most of time it isnt as bad as you think, there are a lot of posts on here in regard to this very subject and people have come back and said they'd managed to sort things. It is an overpayment and this can be sorted out. Renew wait for letter and we'll all help as much as we can. Now get a good nights sleep and ring them/send form before deadline otherwise things will get worse. Claire x
  4. looks like bl**dy hardwork to me. Well done to those starting it. Off to have wine and watch soaps in pj's zumba can wait till 2morrow
  5. You say your son ''thinks'', therefore by asking them to prove it, he's not admitting or denying the debt. 2002 was a long time ago. I can't remember what I took out in 2002 (but that's more denial than forgetting) Words to the effect of ''I have no knowledge of this debt'' blah blah ''Unless you can provide proof etc, I expect you to bring this issue to a close, I look forward to hearing from you'' I also think there are templates on here for all that been mentioned, but a simple prove it letter might all thats needed to put a stop to it.
  6. I might be wrong but i am of same opinion as Brassnecked in regard to charges. Park your car round corner for a bit and write your council a strongly worded letter. The council employs them they are responsible for what they do and should really have informed bailiff debt was paid (I think) (someone more knowledgable will tell you if that's right). If you dont have means to record calls dont ring, these are not nice people. Dont let them in or address letters directly to them. Your debt was with council they are the monkeys. Personally I wouldnt be giving them anything YOU HAVE PAID !!! Look through the letter templates and other posts before you do anything, there is loads of help on here.
  7. Thanks Mr Lex Sounds like i'd fit in perfectly Caro
  8. Dont mean to sound thick but can someone tell me about cag meets ? do you need invite ? what happens etc, been registered on here a while but just starting to be a regular really. Devon bit far from me, but wouldnt mind going to one. Thanks Claire
  9. Cant give you a complete answer to this. But what I do know is Housing and council tax benefit is a nightmare when your a student. It is all dependant on what course your on, hours, not all are considered, etc etc. What other household income there, benefits etc. When I was in similiar situation, before I found this site, I applied for HB & CTB and was refused I knew this wasnt right. I went to the CAB and to be honest weren't very helpful. Anyway I wasn't detered. I wrote back and appealled with evidence from one of those ''entitled 2'' websites saying that someone with the same income that wasn't a student would get full HB & CTB. After firing letters backwards and forwards, they finally awarded both and backdated money from when I first applied. Since then I found out that local councils have leaflets that explain it all to students about HB etc. They are only basic. I also found out that most of the time students get knocked back for HB so ask for evidence as to how they worked it out and appeal. I think if someone on here, who knows more than me, could work it out I think they'd need amounts and course details as it's complicated. Word of warning, that ''entitled 2'' site I used does say not to use if your a student, as it wont be accurate. I just used it as a starting point. Sorry I couldnt give def answer but at least this might bump your post so you can get some sound advice. Good luck Claire
  10. Thanks for that Dj, sorting out complaint at moment as advised by dx. Also she has signed a form authorising me to deal with it all, makes it easier for her. Really grateful for your post, never even crossed my mind to recall DD, your right we have copies of everything original letter and recorded delivery receipts etc. Hopefully can get it sorted now. Thanks again Claire x
  11. Totally agreed citizanB, Just knowing the support was there helped me. This site makes such a difference ! I'll be (like loads of others ) checking future posts to see if I can help !
  12. I hate that rat faced little man from moorcroft. You might have a different rat faced little man, but there all the same. I have a video camera next to my front door, it doesnt work but he doesnt know that. He quickly turns on his heels. I know you can write to stop them coming. Check out the letter templates on here. Please dont think Im making light of your situation, believe me I know how embarrassing it is. Also dx you have to admit it is entaining when you get chance to embarrass them.
  13. Thankyou Mr & Mrs M and well done for coming out otherside ! I came across this site when I found voluntary places like CAB etc not knowledgable enough for my situation. This site is invaluable. I must admit though I feel guilty when I worry about my own problems, some people on here are a lot worse off. Thank God for those on here that do know their stuff. I wish someone would post something I knew loads about. I also check new posts in the hope they will.
  14. Not sure if Ive put this in right forum. My sister is a qualified midwife but hasn't practised for a few years she is wanting to apply for a return to practise course and obviously a CRB check will be done. The problem is she was banned for 12 months in 2007 for drink driving. She knows it wont effect her registration as the nursing and midwifery council were made aware at the time, and she on leave because her husband died. Does anyone know if it will stop her been given a place on the return to clinical practise course. She doesnt want to hide anything, but she doesnt want reminders of such an awful time. If anyone can clarify what may happen, it would be most appreiciated, as the worry is putting her off applying.
  15. Ive printed off loads of shocking stuff about drug interactions that bankfodder very kindly posted a link to. Ive also printed off the stuff others have sent me links to. I will def go to chemist as well. I am so grateful to every single person whose posted on here. If anyone has any suggestions on how to present all the info to the consultant that would be great. Like I said Im keeping a diary of her day to day symtoms and behaviour. I also have a lot of info regarding drug interactions that fit in with the problems she's having. Im just concerned now that the consultant might dismiss all the evidence
  16. Ive mainly used this forum to ask others for help, as have a lot of people. But finally I hope I can give something back. Recently i started paying my talk talk mobile bill by DD which was fine. Im also with talk talk for my landline which I didnt want to pay by DD. I checked my internet banking and found talk talk had set up two seperate DD. I cancelled the landline one and paid my bill as normal. I got this months bill and they was a rejected DD charge of £10. I rang them only cause I couldnt be bothered to write. I was refunded the money but Id never been informed or gave permission for the second DD. It was only by chance I checked my DD's on my internet banking and went through the bill (I know I should everytime) It makes you wonder how many other companies that people have more than one account with do exactly the same.
  17. Thanks leemack, So maybe a dietician would be a good idea once her medication has been sorted. Just dont know where to start really. Thinking of keeping a diary until she has appointment so consultant can see how poor her behaviour and general wellbeing have become. Maybe this will help the consultant be a bit more receptive to the effects of her medication and other possible factors. In general the anti psychotics and anti depressants do not seem to be controlling her symtoms. She does however seem to have almost every side effect of them alone and side effects stated when they interact.
  18. Hi everyone, My gran has written to to cancel and claim back the ppi on her ongoing barclays loan. They sent the usual letter back which is fine. The problem is there was no mention of cancelling the current monthly payment. When she rang them she forgot an answer to a security question so they refused to deal with her over the phone. Theyve put a note on to stop her getting any info over the phone. She has been told she needs to go to the branch with the usual ID to have the block lifted. It says in the terms and conditions she can cancel the ppi at any time but the bank have arranged the appointment for the end of next month. This means three payments will have been taken by the time she see's someone. As the original letter asking to cancel the ppi was received by them the beginning of last month. She was told when she made the appointment that the ppi was still active and the loan would need to be recalculated. The person who deals with this is on holiday (yes, I wish I worked for barclays too !) Can someone advise me how to request an earlier appointment and how she can avoid taking out a completely new loan, as this is apparently what they are planning to get her to do.
  19. Apparently, she was prescribed paracetamol for general wear and tear on her back. Considering she worked 3 cleaning jobs most of her life Im not surprised she had back ache. When her mental health, according to her Doctor, got worse, she became almost house bound. She gets no exercise, even though I cook healthy low fat meals for her, she is overweight. She was then prescribed tramadol due to her back getting worse. Nothing was given inbetween. We have arranged the medication review for 3rd of August. Ive been very grateful for everyones comments and advice. When Ive looked at the drug interactions the evidence is shocking, it's extremely complex and im far from stupid. Does anyone know if I could request a toxicologist and dietician to get involved as I also think her medication needs a serious review. I think changes to her diet and maybe some light exercise would also help.
  20. thanks conniff, Just reading what youve said is giving me confidence to try and sort it.
  21. thankyou bankfodder and yorklass, youve both been really helpful, will check out both suggestions. Total nightmare really, my partner was under the impression his grandma was been well looked after by his mum and everything was under control, turns out it's progessively got worse and his mum's ''few drinks at the end of the day'' turned into few at beginning, middle and end. But im sure she'll not be first or last to buckle under the strain. Let's just hope we can get his grandma's long term care sorted. the medication just seems to be tip of iceburg. I hazard a guess this may well be just the start. I really apprieciate both replies so far, but any advice on how to access any services to help would be welcomed. I really am a bit naive with this. Thanks again !
  22. Does anyone know where I can get accurate info regarding how medications interact with each other. Bit of a long story, will try to keep it brief ! My partners grandma is 69 yrs old and has suffered severe mental health problems for the last 20yrs. She has been diagnosed with alsorts over the years, schizophenia, severe depression, paranoia, bi-polar and every sort of mania you can imagine. Some of these have been undiagnosed, then diagnosed again. (No wonder the poor woman is suffering !) During this time, the vast amount of medication she's been prescribed has been increased, decreased, halved, doubled, stopped, restarted, well you get the picture. My partner and I have recently started looking after her and her quality of life is appalling. She is taking quite a lot of very strong tablets and seems to suffer every possible side effect to extreme proportion, as well as still having the symtoms these tablets suppose to help with. To be fair though, whenever asked by medical staff she says she's ''fine''. Having said that, she has a CPN and various other people who help her at home, who have witnessed the way she behaves, but all they say is they dont know what more they can do, and put it down to her medication. We have arranged an appointment with the consultant for a medication review. In the meantime ive tried researching her medication. Some websites say that one drug shouldnt be given with another and other websites say the opposite etc etc, it's so confusing. I dont want to go in and tell the doc how to do her job, I just want some decent background knowledge of what these drugs taken together are doing to her (if anything) Most people wouldnt even let an animal suffer the way she does. Im also keeping a diary of symtoms and possible side effects. Medically she also suffers from Angina, high blood pressure, high cholestrol and acid reflux, oh and a bad back. The tablets she takes are :- Adalat (nifededipine) - one 30mg tablet once a day and one 60mg tablet once a day. Trazadone - 100mg at night. Ramipril - 5mg once a day. Chlorpromazine - one 50mg tablet twice a day and one 25mg tablet twice a day. Simvastatin - 40mgs at night Atenolol - 50mgs once a day. Lanzsoprazole - 30mgs once a day. Olanzapine (zyprexia) - two 10mg tablets at night. Venlafaxine (Rodomel & alventa) - 150mg once a day Asprin - 75mg daily Paracetamol - two 500mg tablets 4 times a day. Tramadol - 50mgs 4 times a day. I dont know what else to do other than take her to the consultant. If anyone knows where I can get more info one how the tablets interact, or even advice in general how to handle this situation id be very grateful
  23. This number rang my boyfriends mobile and our landline few weeks ago quite a lot of times. We dont have voicemail on either and we never answer or ring back a number we dont know. I assumed it was cold call. They gave up in the end and no letter has come asking us to ring the number.
  24. All the cheques were guaranteed even the returned ones. That isnt the issue (well it is ) Im not happy that they said one thing and did another, I accept the terms and conditions are correct in hindsight, but at the time I was told both verbally and in writing that my instructions had been carried out, which in part they had as they returned four guaranteed cheques, in between cashing other cancelled ones. At the time it was a big mess, I dont even think the halifax knew what was going on, let alone their terms and conditions. As it stands now, the only way it can be sorted is if it goes to court. Im not sure if its been sold as ive written to every DCA its been to, saying I believe its in dispute and asking if they own the debt. Then never hear anything until I get a letter from a different DCA. I know terms and conditions are the rules, but I feel the customers have to tow the line but not the banks, then the banks ignore or hide behind them if they make a mistake.
