  1. she might let us know whats shes doing if we let her get a word in edge ways. my advice as in all things dont let the bu###rs fob you off.
  2. as I said before if she got it wet 6 months ago and the damage was done then it would have packed up 6 months ago. the fact that its stopped shuffling could be caused by a few things like software problems or a stiking button. water damage would be low on list of suspect as I would expect multipul symptoms. as stated if they dont check sensors they cant say water damage. If they look and it is water damage then thats her fault, her responability her loss. but external sensors are their to give engineer a clue not to give spotty herbert at the counter a reason to say no.
  3. I dont expect them to cover for abuse just accept that these things should be up to normal daily use. they dont know if all sensors are red if dont open it up in the first place. retail staff making diognosis based on 2 external sensors is not good enough, if they dont let an engineer look at it then they cant defanately say water damage. worse they can say is you are sweatty. sorry I mean glowing.................glowing like a pig.
  4. as I said most damage done by water is down to shorts on the circuit boards ect. this happens at the time of incident not 6 months latter. more than a fair chance that current problem is nothing to do with getting it wet 6 months ago. by your logic most mobiles and portable devices ect will not be garanteed because these things take knocks on a daily basis and all will be exposed to water at some point, the odd spot of rain or not properly dried hands. these things are suposed to be fit for purpose, which means should cope with the daily rigures of the use they were designed for and the enviroment they will be used in. as Apple said on watchdog. the warrenty is only void if all 4 indicaters have been exposed to water. if Apple arnt checking this, which was the subject of the complaint on watchdog, then this is a failing on their part. op probably didnt even asossiate this problem with getting it wet six months ago until Apple pointed out external sensor and said its water damage, this seems to be their "easy out" and should have been sorted after watchdog got on their case.
  5. I know op refering to iphone but ipod made by same people would be fair to assume same technology and set up re sensors. op didnt say it was completely immersed just got it wet so could be nothing to do with the problem, usual problem with water damage is shorts in the internals. if no shorts and dried out properly then shouldnt corrode. if apple arnt checking inside as they should then their derilict in their duties, either they havent read the guidlines re all indicaters need to be red or their deliberately trying to avoide their responsabilities. if the dont look they cant blame water damage if the do look and its obviously water damage then they dont have o repair.
  6. whatch the vid to the end thats were the relavent bit is. apple iphone (so I assume ipod) warenties are not void unless all of the indicatores have turned red. this includes the internal ones so unless and until theyve taken your ipod apart tell them the warantie still stands and quote the statement given by apple to watchdog.
  7. just look and its Iphones they were on about heres a link. BBC - Watchdog: Watchdog bites Apple... hope this helps
  8. was a bit on this subject on watchdog to do with mobile phones I think. apparently their are a couple of these moisture sensors inside the phone. the problem was they shops spotted the external sensors showed the phone had been wet and wouldnt even send them on to the enginears, It turns out the external sensors could be affected by high humidity or sweat from the users hand. they cannot tell if the thing is water damaged until they take it apart and look inside. if they havent done this inst they do or take it to a repair shop and get a full report. if its not water damaged send them the bill. if still less than 6 months old insist its pre existing fault and tell them to prove other wise. point out external sensors dont prove water damage only indicate it as a possibility. if you get no joy contact trading standards. I dont know what these things cost but my find its cheaper to replace than repair.
  9. CAB are their to help and are usually on the ball with this sort of thing. will know all the rules and regs that apply and will tell you best course of action. dont sign anything from DWP untill youve read it and checked it with CAB, DWP will try and get you to sign statement admiting you know you did wrong and then chase you for cost, interest and recovery of £4000. they may also try for a fraud charge so stick to it been an honest mistake and point out that they should have made this clear to you from outset.
  10. is she on any benfits, if shes claiming for her and the kids this should provide some proof as to her circumstaces and show that the CB is going to the wrong person. her adviser at the DWP may be ale to help.
  11. had an advert out our JC a few months back asking for escorts. if its legal they advertise it. I was going to apply my self but dont have the looks for it. (see my avatar for idea of what I mean)
  12. If she's been using a bank in this country and drawing on it from overseas then that will give them a paper trail that proves she wasn't entitled to benefits for that 9 months, if someone's reported her then they will already have checked this and will have bank statements probably going back a few years so may also Know about her previous stay abroad. They did this with my friend who's ex's new girlfriend was jealous and made an anonymous call to DWP claiming he had been paying her money for their son straight in to the bank. Luckily he had been giving cash in hand, even so they got bank statements going back to before he left 5 years ago including an account she forgot she had they also got copies of her credit reports and credit card statements to see what she had borrowed and to see if she was paying out more than she had coming in. the chances are that they already know what's happened and may just be asking questions to see if she panics and comes home were they can get hold of her. Now you've sent a letter in cancelling her claim they may let it go at that because its to much agro for them to chase her while she's abroad but I wouldn't bank on it. If your daughter rings you they from abroad this may also give them a clue as to were she is as I think they also have access to phone records. The problem is that once they suspect you they will look at every thing they can and there is one hell of a lot of information out their that they have access to. The problem for you is that if they can prove you sent the letter in you could find your self on a fraud charge. if she's married and claiming as a single mother then they will try to determine if and how long they were living together before they left this country. I don't know were she stands with the tax credits, these are income based and if he's on a poor wage they may have qualified in this country but I don't know if he can claim when abroad. I think EU citizens working in this country can claim tax credits for dependants living in another country but I don't think a UK citizen can claim tax credits when abroad especially out side the EU but may be worth checking just in case. try not to get too deeply involved and if DWP come knocking at the door dont lie because they probably already know the answers, just tell them you dont know and act daft or answer no comment. if they interview you under caution you will be given the option to have a solicitor present i suggest you have one, cover your own back, your daughter has done something very very stupid and if you try lieing for her the DWP will hang you out to dry.
  13. This is what hardship payments are for. apply and you will recieve. and if you believe that I have bridge id like to sell ya
  14. Ive been asked to apply for jobs that I dont have a cat in hells chance of getting I tell them straight out that i wont apply and why. reasons usually simple, im not qualified, dont have relevant experience or not physically capeable. I do tell them that if their willing to put me through the relevant training then ill start applying for those jobs. when they say if Im not physically capeable I should sign on the sick, I point out I was signed of the sick as fit for non phisical work years a go and I dont wont to sign on sick I want a job. I use to apply for jobs all the time and got a lot of interviews until the recesion hit so they know I try. I have asked what courses are available so I can have a crack at other types of work but theirs no funding for anything accept IT and clerical. I cant get on the goverment funded training because I live in the wrong post code, I had to use my sister address just to get a refresher coarse for my fork lift licence, this was my advisers Idea. In my opinion the biggest obsticle to getting work is the DWP. they have to many reasons not help and make very little effort to help.
  15. sounds about right. it may not of been intended as a guide line but an example, it is a sensible way of looking at it and would make sence that its treated more as guide, they seem to be using it as such. will try catch up the cousin and her hubby. been to long since I last saw them anyway. one of the draw backs to unemployment is you tend to lose contact with people and spend to much time on your own, on your arse and online.
  16. just to make clear I hadnt been working on the side as was claimed, It was a maliciouse complaint
  17. they never believe its their own fault they were cought cos their to clever. so must have been grassed. when investigater turned up at ours for a routine check a few years back I told him Id been grassed, who had grassed me why and exactly what they had said. He said "I cant confirm or deny who reported you but now I know its maliciouse Ill make a note on your file" this is what happens when you upset these people and they assume youll do the same so will take it out on those they've fallen out with or think have a grudge.
  18. anonymouse fine but they always seem to suspect the same people.
  19. unfortunately its not so easy to report some of them. if they suspect its you that interupted their income and left them short of their drug/beer/petral money then its windows smashed, sheds and cars burnt, wives and kids threatned. I live on a coucil estate and could tell you storys that would make your hair curl. came damd close to a nasty end a few years back, lucky I know the **** and didnt give em chance to suround me, the next fella wasnt so lucky 2 of em tortured him to death.
  20. as I said DWP aint thick and will be suspiciose, their will be a note on their file re the circumstances of the last claim and how it ended, as soon as a new claim is submited they will keep an eye on the situation. and as I said who ever grassed them before will proably still have DWP's phone number.
  21. their are 2 things garanteed to get peoples backs up. looking down on people then doing what you look down on them for doing. and waving your ilegal activities in peoples faces and saying you dont care cos they wont catch me. might as well paint a big target on their back. DWP aint thick and will be suspiciose and who ever grassed them before will proably still have DWP's phone number. pritty obvius out come to this one.
  22. this may be what he was he was refering to, seems they take it more literally in this neck of the woods. an example in a guide book that they use as a point to work from. if thats all it is then maybe they should stop putting these examples in the guide books.
  23. as I said back to work grant in the mid 90s, the information released for public consumption and the info given to jobcetre staff was not exactly the same. I saw both copies. wil try try to catch up with cousins hubby and get a handle on this.
