Lee can go back for the £500 they have since charged him. If he signed signed an agreement saying it was in full and final settlement against any future claims, it might be a little more tricky and he should put a new post in.

Have you posted your results in the Survey in the General Forum? Very encouraging for newbies.

Of course they're entitled to ask for it. However, like any service or product they supply - it has a price.

Please read the FAQs and around the Forum. To approach the Fo you have to have exhausted the bank's own complaints procedure and it is unlikey that he would investigate a complaint about a single charge. Don't waste your time and effort attemption to go down that route.

They may be just trying to scare you - in any case open a parachute account now. They would justify account closure as being for "commercial reasons"

the best way to get charges back
richardc replied to whistleblowing fairy's topic in A Word from the Banks
It is pointless being rude to call=centre or branch staff. They do not make policy. In some cases they have limited discretion and if you are rude to them they are not going to exercise it in your favour. Agreed, they are not going to refund you your money but it's not their fault and there's nothing they can do about it. But you can - issue a claim against the bank - it's the only thing they will respond to. The staff who work in these places are human, and don't react well to being verbally abused. Excuse the lecture but I ran a customer service department, in a different but equally emotive field but governed by law. I had discretion to help someone who was in the wrong if I thought they had a deserving case. With abusive people I kept to the letter of the law. -
I would tell them that confidentiality costs. How much are they willing to pay for it?

Welcome. You're in control not the bank. Stick strictly to your timetable.

Please read the FAQs - all you need is there(and more) -
Keep focused and keep to your timetable.
-
People have received that sort of money. Just keep focused and stick to your timetable.

Yes they are allowed to charge £10 for a DPA request. You can try claiming it back when you file your CC claim. I don't know if any has done this.
-
Keep at it and keep us posted.

There is such a survey in the General Forum.

As long as the sum claimed is under K£5 it will remain in the small claims court. The interest is not counted nor the court fee.

omollmeg v Barclays - **WON**
richardc replied to omollmeg's topic in Barclays, BCard and Woolwich successes
The advice would be to reject the offer and continue with your claim to get all your money. However, it's your money and your decision. If you read around the forum, you will see plenty of cases in which people have stood their ground, rejected an offer and then get the claim in full. Of course there is no guarantee and you must be prepared to go to court. -
Welcome to the Group. You obviuosly haven't read the the FAQs and the forum. Take some time doing that - you'll find answers to all your questions.
