  1. hey boston. dont worry too much.

hopefully the OR will not be interested in your basic barclays account, and barclays are one of the 2 that will accept BR's. So fingers crossed. May be worth getting the ball rolling with the co op acc.

I have my telephone interview on Monday, i have just filled in some paperwork ref tax and Ni, and got my wages slips and bank statements etc ready to post in the morn. I will defo feel even better after the phone interview as it is all well and truely over by then.

I will think of you tomorrow. Remember it isnt as bad as you think.

It will all be over soon.

    ;)

  2. Hi Tillymitch,

I know exactly how you feel and what you are going through.

I was on a DMP with Payplan, started March last year. I owed around 15k. Again i had not paid some creditors for a few months and i was worried sick. I was paying £103 a month to Payplan. Some creditors accepted my offer, some didn't. The ones that didn't were eventually passed to a DCA (some people say a DCA tends to be more likely to accept an offer, particularly if it is small than the orginal creditor), which were largely accepted. Then sometimes passed on again.

I have recently gone bankrupt, purely because i got fed up of creditors still charging me interest and charges. E.G Natwest were adding around £45 a month to an overdraft and they were only getting about £6 a month. This meant i would never be debt free. I was estimated to finish my DMP in 2046!! Due to further financial problems i had to reduced my DMP payments to £32 a month for a short period of time.

Basically try not to worry, a DMP is a good thing for many people. Particularly if you get lucky, in which your creditors freeze all interest etc immediately and you can stick to a good monthly repayment plan.

I found Payplan a brilliant team to deal with.

Just remember any letters etc tell your case officer straight away. DO NOT deal with creditors on the phone only in writing if you want to!

Also go with the CCA request i did this and got Great Universal off my back as i knew i hadn't signed an agreement as it was sat in my diary. They agreed to stop chasing me for the £800 i owed them.

Stick with your DMP for now, but if that doesnt work out. There are other options. I was absolutely terrified about going bankrupt. But now i have done it i wish i'd done it a year ago and not bothered with a DMP. I also have a friend who was on a DMP for 4 years and went BR in December due to the interest etc still being added. She wishes she had not wasted all that money trying to do the right thing and pay everything back.

Here in the UK we are very proud. Most of us want to do the right thing, and what we believe we should be doing as a member of society. We also care too much sometimes about what others think of us. Rather than what is best for us and our loved ones.

Keep your chin up! Help is at hand. :D

  3. Hello well i have finally gone BR. I am so relieved. All i have to do now is wait for the OR to send letter asking for some bits and enclosed will be the time and day of my telephone interview(little nervous).

I really do not know what i was so worried about??

For anyone in the same boat, thinking about BR etc... please see my thread http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/formal-solutions-bankruptcy-administration/160299-bankruptcy-advice-questions.html

lots of bits in that. I had so many threads as i had so many questions.

Also i have managed to open a cash builder account with co op this afternoon after going bankrupt. I explained my situation and the lad on the phone was very helpful 08456027057. With this account i get internet banking, the ability to pay direct debits and standing orders, an electron card. Also do not worry if you do not have a co op branch near by (my nearest is 50 miles away) you can use the post office to pay in money, cheques and withdraw cash.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me on here including: phat256, fermi, 42man, sugarbabe47, gizmo111, palomino the list goes on. But thank you all of you. Without this site i do not know what i would have done throughout the process.

If i knew where you all were i'd buy you a drink. Also if i happen to be lucky enough at some point to have any extra money i will be donating to the site.

    I will keep you posted.

Remember there is light at the end of the tunnel and people are about to help. I am looking forward to my fresh start and rebuilding my life without feeling sick ever day and wondering how i will pay this creditor and that.

    Thank you everyone.:p

  4. if myself and partner are not married, does he have to prove his income? I am getting confused perhaps too much info etc everywhere? I thought if i was not married the Or has no interest in my partners finances, however if they go for an IPA which i dont think they will i have read on the insolvency site that they will require proof of my partners expenses etc???? HELP

  5. Ok so the big day for me is tomorrow, i feel a bit sick and have so many things/questions etc going around my head.

Ok does anyone have an idea of the sort of thing the OR will ask when they call me?

I have a list of things to ask them:

What bank acc would they suggest?

What happens with nil tax and how will they recieve tax, how long for?

    and so on.

I also have made a few notes of thing they may ask me.

E.g why did i take a loan out? Why did i have a further catalogue and so on.

I know all cases are individual but any advice would be great.

Also is it possible for the OR to call you at the court, do they have a small office for this? I am concerned as i am busing it (the court knows) that something may happen and i wont get back in time E.G the bus breaks down. The OR will be calling my mobile (i have no landline).

    :D

  6. ok after searching net and also martin lewis moneysaving expert forums. I seem to have established the best bet for a bank account when i go Br is the Co op cash minder, however my nearest branch is Plymouth about 50miles from me!!! I note you can use the post office to pay into the account... does anyone know if this means cheques as well.

I owe nothing to co op whereas barclays i do. Just want as little stress as possible.

Does anyone know anything about Halifax? I know someone who opened a basic account with them after going BR.

Look forward to hearing further thoughts :)

  7. he plans on calling them within the next week (we would have had a letter by then i guess) they will then know i have gone BR which he will also tell them and i think he plans on offering a sum or setting up some sort of payment proposal we are hoping this will be ok and will not get sent to the bailiffs just yet. 400 odd quid is nothing and he is hoping to raise it somehow the debt will increase by a further 88 1st feb. Really the full amount for the the year left to pay is only just over 600. So as long as they understand him and agree to a lump and reduced payments hopefully all will be ok. fingers crossed!
