  1. My partner has a pay day loan, this was for £200. He has paid the interest only each month of £63, at the end of this month that will be his 4th payment of interest in which he would have more than paid back what he borrowed plus interest.

What is the likelihood of them agreeing after this fourth payment that the debt has been settled? He has never had enough at the end of the month to pay anymore than the interest, but he cant go on like that forever.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  3. Does anyone have a contact at the above company?

I have done some research and found iQor :: Home which seems to be a national company. Am i right in guessing that they have only just taken over Legal & Trade?

I would like an email address for someone there or at least there complaints department. The above website doesnt give much away but i am guessing that is the correct website as they deal with money collection and the letterhead i have is the same as the website header.

I cant find much via google either, companies like these usually have email?!

Keen to send an abrupt email to them. I know people say you should write but i always seem to have far more success in emails and it gets it done quicker!

    Thanks

  4. Ok my partner had an overdraft with Halifax for the sum of £100, he went over drawn by £1 and the charges started to pile on.

His debt has been passed around a little and he has already paid the sum of around £50 of this debt off.

The letter he has had today is from IQOR the new name for legal and trade. Stating they are been told to recover £201.97 in full.

He is basically sick of this, he is not well due to have a lung operation in June in relation to a dark mass being found. Although he is trying to work at times he can't.

He basically wants to say stuff you, take me to court and i will pay £50-£60 of what i owe of the original overdraft not all these charges.

Do you think it is worth contacting this company direct and explaining the above and asking if they will agree to a final settlement of £60 and scrap the rest. Or is it unlikely for them to accept this?

He is more than willing to pay back his overdraft he is not disputing the amount for this, but all the charges are ridiculous!

Also does anyone know if they have a website and or email address???

I look forward to hearing from someone.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hey phats. I also went for CBT a year or so ago, but for some reason it is not working these days. I do not know why. Maybe i should restart.

My sister has been diagnosed with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and has been given a light machine to use.

I keep thinking i may have this. Where i live its so dark, hardly any natural light comes into my home, i have to keep going and standing outside! Just wondering if thats why i have been worse, as its been winter and so on.

Good on you for thinking of enrolling on a course, that would be good for you.

I think my BR was due to impluse spending. I used to spend to make me happy (it worked, at the time). Clothes, meals out, nights out on the town. And so on.

Althought i am glad i have gone through the BR process, there are times in which i do wish slightly that i could just go on a little spending spree and not have to worry. Lol. But its a could job i can't, i'd end up in the Bahamas! Lol

I hope things work out for you. Good luck! :D x

  6. Phat i am sorry to here of your problems. I hope things improve for you ASAP. Thinking of you with warm thoughts and best wishes.

I too have had a major attack of depression and also suffer with border line personality. I have been up and down since my BR process and personal problems and now a horrible work environment has forced me to go on the sick.

  7. i went Br begin of Jan, i received the rebate begin of Feb, mainly due to my place of work being closed for 6 weeks and i had no work. I explained i had received one and that i neeeded the money to live on as i had no work/money coming in. I heard nothing accept you should have told us as soon as you received the sum, i did merely a few days later. I mean this is under £100 and they want it back??

I have not had a nil tax code applied, I was told they would not be doing this due to my level of earnings and being so close to the new tax year.

Someone must of been in a similar situation?

I still have not heard from the OR and have emailed them twice!

I cant pay it if i cant afford to, i mean hello.... that is why i went Br as i am skint! and How do you pay via chq if BR.

  8. i have emailed the office asking for a longer time to send them the money. Not heard anything back. If need be they will have to apply a nil tax code in order to obtain the small sum back. I have now been signed off work for a further month so there is no way they will be getting the money back for a month.

Any other advise or similar experiences would be nice to hear from others.

  9. I have had a letter stating the official receiver wants the tax rebate i received in Feb, returned to them via cheque within 14 days.

Firstly, if i had the money, i do not have a cheque book, i am bankrupt!

I told the office about the rebate and stressed i needed this money to live on as i was currently out of work and unsure of my return date to the current job. I received an email stating i should have told them straight away, i did, 4 days after i had receive it and heard nothing further. The amount was under £100.

What do i do? I can't get hold of the sum in 14 days, i'm off work alot lately with depression so barely earn a bean.

Would they accept a bit each week? And if i have no cheque book how do they get their money? There are no other payment options!

    Please help.

    Thanks

  10. My partner has received a letter from the Department of Working Pensions in relation to a social fund loan he had many years ago. One in 1997 and one in 1999. They want £167 paid back. The reason for them wanting the sum back is apparently he was not entitiled to receive the money.

Firstly can they do this? Can a government debt be statute barred?

Any thoughts on how to deal with this would be great.

  11. Thanks.

We have called them before and said we were in trouble and they arranged a direct debit for amounts that we couldnt afford to pay, so in the end the direct debits were cancelled. They didn't seem to want to make an arrangement for us to reduce the balance.

I think we will be paying it in 2 lumps during the first 2 weeks of March. I guess that wont cause too much of an issue? Am i right in saying the debt is not in theory owed until April 1st?

    Thanks again

  12. Ok my partner owes £540 council tax for the current year (i recently went bankrupt), so name will be removed.

Had letter stating they would like £300 odd on 25th Feb and the remaining £200 odd on 1st March.

Was told a few weeks ago, that if bill is not settled in the beginning part of March they will submit a court summons.

Ok firstly my partner and with my aid are hoping to have the bill cleared by mid march.

Does anyone have any ideas of a rough time frame to clear the debt? When in March are councils likely to send a court summons?

    What is a court summons?

What happens once the summons has taken place? Is the debt immediately sent to a baliff?

If so what are the options then? Are they likely to accept the amount in 3 lumps over a period of time without them visiting our home?

Alot of questions but just want an idea of the process the council will now use.

As i said hoping to have paid the debt before the summons is carried out.

    Thanks

  13. Ok what to do when Link are telephoning your neighbours to find out if you live where you do and so on?

The strangest part is i went Bankrupt 9th January, and have sinced emailed Link with the details and so on, but they are still phoning others.

I also told them in the email they were breaking every legal code going and to quit their behaviour.

I havent even had a letter from these people. I think it is in relation to an MBNA debt, who never accepted my repayments via my DMP.

So i am not waiting to see what important letter this lady a Mrs Roberts/Rikki wants to send?

    Any pointers?

  14. i have had these morons harrassing my neighbours and now my landlord who lives attached the my property. Funny i went BR just over 5 weeks ago. They telephone acting friendly saying they need to contact me urgently, then another phone call asking if i lived at the address as they have an urgent letter for me. I emailed them a week ago realing off all the usual ilegal methods they seem to like working by. And also send by the way i am bankrupt here are my details now quit harassing me.

My landlady seems quite disturbed by it all, afterall i'm nothing to do with her or my neighbours. Very embarrassing. She would like to report them.

  15. Hi

Does anyone know how i go about removing myself and partner as being financially associated? I have recently gone BR and think this may be having an effect on him.

Is there a letter template i can use?

And what addresses do i send the letters to? I believe their are 3 credit agencies?

    Look forward to some advice.:D
