Hi i got a final demand for my council tax,it was dated 19th October received on the 22nd October i emailed them about it and got a email on reply 28th October stating if the outstanding balance was not paid within the next 7 days failuree to make this payment will result in a court summons for non payment of the council tax being issued,and costs of £55 will be applied to cover the costs of the summons and court proceedings. My question is on the Final Notice it says you may wish to consider paying by direct debit to avoid further reminders. I rang the council and asked them if i could make arrangements to set up a direct debit payment or any other payment method,the woman that i got through to said there was no way i could set up a payment method once the summons had been issued. I pointed out to her that the summons had not been issued and would be issued on the 2nd November but she was adament that a payment method could not be set up to pay the by direct debit or any other method after the summons was issued but the summons had not been issued,i thought or is the final notice a summons as they seem to be saying. Or was i given the wrong advice over the phone. Thank for reading this and any advice will be welcome. barns66

I found that after they send the leter that they will not pesue the debt,you will recive a few statements with what they call a default charge,then they just give up. barns66

Hi I don't know the answer to your problem,but i know sometimes at the places on the internet that i shop when i register a new card with them they will take a small payment from it then return it shortly afterwards for verification,but they always tell you when they are going to do this. barns66

Thanks for your replie,forgot to mentionthey say they will enforce payment of the outstanding sum together with any judicial expenses and costs of recovery.These costs can be substantial and will be a minimum of £250,they are just a joke,i might take up your idea babybear seeing they are short of cash,silly machine in there office might take pennies. barns66

DCA's Must be getting desperate for money now,i have not been with Scottish power for over 18 months and i got a letter this morning from SPM collections for what i suppose they say i owe to Scottish power from my final bill for the great sum of £2.05.Must have cost them that to send the letter.What jokers they are. barns66

Thanks for your reply credit,it does say prescribed terms overleaf,i still don't understand which of the 2 pages sent this refers to,i about to send a letter to them asking for clarification on 3 points on the application form sent.I thought i had read somewhere that any credit agreement before 2005 must contain the t & c within the document and not on a seperate page.Will let you know when i hear back from them. barns66
