  1. You'll forgive our scepticism, Joanne, but we've found that things are sometimes not as they seem when Guy Bell and/or NPA are involved. For example: Guy tells us that NPA doesn't do wall coatings, it just advertises for someone else - but the website talks about its guaranteed wall coatings The law says that any business that processes data must be registered with ICO - but Guy tells us that he's exempt because some girl at ICO apparently told him he was. Now we are being asked to believe that someone has registered on CAG just to tell us that everything must be alright because she met Guy once and he was 'nice and charm

  2. Nothing to worry about at the moment, they just want to come & check they have the right details for your claim. It's basically a review. Compliance is a horrible name for them isn't it, when I had one come, we were saying they should be called review officers as it sounds too scarey lol But to be honest they should be giving you more warning than that, that they are coming, did you not receive a letter stating a date? Your friend isn't doing you any favours by kicking up a fuss about it. Has he got something to hide?

  3. God knows what 'pre-litigation review' is but you can expect the next letter to be even more threatening, referring to 'bailiffs' and litigation. All a load of tosh IMO. Hopefully you can hit them with the SB letter, but get the info confirmed. Did you pay anything to the Liverpool company? Certainly do not phone this guy and tell them to 'go away' if they phone you.

HFO have 12 working days to respond plus 2 to cover postage, so Monday is Day 1. You can then send the Account in Dispute letter if they do not supply a proper agreement. Again, it is important not to speak to them on the phone unless you can record it ,'in writing only' and be as rude as you like. I think is imperative to phone BC and get to the bottom of where this has come from, who owns it and the last payment date, if it is yours. Also look at making some complaints to OFT and sending them copies of

  5. Welcome to the site. Someone should be along shortly to best advise. You need to get copies of statements to see exactly how much has been added in charges/fees. Was there also any payment protection insurance with the card ? It should be possible to claim these back and reduce any balance. The Bank is required to uphold codes of practice, which falls within the lending code. You must keep everything in writing, with proof of posting and keep copies. I would start with the credit card arrears, informing them that you are not seeking avoidance but will be requesting account statements and charges to see what is legitimately due. T
