Hello, I live and work in the middle east and will be out of the uk for at least one year. I am married and my wife will live in the uk. We have a complicated relationship (who doesnt i hear you cry) We dont live together as man and wife and last year we were advised by the tax credit people that she must make a single claim as i spent less than 91 days in the uk . This was followed by a letter saying they believed i lived there and suggested fraud( although they were informed of every change) I use the joint account we've had for years as my accounts were closed after a period of being overdrawn with the horse bank. Please advise as the tax credit helpline dont seem to know their a** from their elbow. I wont be returning to the uk even though my contract allows me two weeks off every 12 weeks. (she just books a holiday and i meet her there to see the kids)
