I have been having a few problems with Provident.

First off my local agent wasn't turning up to collect the money on the set date, so she changed the date. Then she wasnt turning up then either.

She finally turned up last weekend and was told that I had no money to pay her and that she should be turning up on the proposed day and time. To which she started shouting at me, she then dragged a neighbour out and started to tell my neighbour how much debt and arrears I was in with the company.

Yet again today she has been discussing my account with a neighbour to which I have a witness.

She has breached Data protection by divulging the fact that I have a loan with the provident let alone the fact she is talking about my account behind my back with strangers.

I have reported this to the head office, but I want to take this further than her just getting a telling off from head office. It has gone to the point of being slander.

I need some help on what I can do about this.

Complain to trading standards as these pratices are contrary to OFT guidelines on debt collection (you cannot complain to OFT directly) Ask TS to take it up with the OFT.

You should also lodge a formal complaint with Provident
