Hi sent my SAR request off and £10 fee and they have sent letter back saying that i can have a copy of my statements for free but if i still want the Subject Access Request then the fee stands. Do i need the sar because surely i just need the statements to work out the charges.

They also said if i do need the SAR then they need the authority from my husband as his name is on the account also, so will that be another £10 fee?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you are happy going after just the charges the statements would be fine. If you are looking for other information too then the SAR is the better option.

I would have thought if your husband and you requested the SAR in "joint" names and each signed the request and dated it accordingly - there would only be one charge of £10 - because they are only passing details of one account to you. ( Hopefully someone else knows better than I do.)
