  1. Hi all, had a debt thats done the rounds over the last few years and ended up with Gothia. Sent them a CCA Request and got a letter back in May 2010 saying they couldnt provide an Agreement and that the account had therefore been closed. Now, 18 months later, I get one of those stupid Provident letters asking if I would like to pay it off via an "interest free" (?) loan and that their rep will be calling ( Oh, you bloody think so do you ????). Actually, no I wouldnt ta, and if memory serves me correctly, this is now well and truly Stat Barred ( original debt around 2004). But is there anyway I can drop Gothia in it? Are they entitled to flog it on after admitting they cannot provide an Agreement or do I just get on Providents nerves with a Stat Barred letter? Thanks all.
  2. Hi this is my first post so sorry if it's in the wrong place and admin please feel free to move it. I am hoping someone may be able to offer some advice. My wife has just found out that a member of her family took out a loan with Provident around 2 years ago and has not been keeping up the payments. They have come clean now as C K Edrupt have sent my wife a letter stating the account has been passed to them and demanding payment of around £4000. There are quite a lot of issues I don't understand - my wife hasn't lived at the address where they are sending these letters since 2002 and took my name when we were married prior to the agreement being taken out: it transpires that the family member signed the agreement as my wife using her maiden name. Has anyone been in a similar situation? How can a company can provide a loan without doing proper ID checks - I am really worried as my wife wants me to pay the money but we don't really have it and I don't see how we can be expected to pay off a loan we have no knowledge of. Many thanks in advance
  3. Hi, Back in January 2009 I took a loan out with Provident Personal Credit for £300. Everything was going fine (bar their extortionate rates of interest) until 6 months ago, when the agent stopped calling. I made calls and sent letters asking for someone to call, but to no avail. I received one letter about 4 months ago asking for payment, and I spoke to head office, who assured me that they would deal with the matter. Yesterday (9th December) I received a 'Service of Default Notice' from their solicitors demanding the debt arreasr plus a payment plan to repay the outstanding amount. Surely they are in breach of the contract by not fulfilling their side of the deal, and given that I have on more than one occasion requested visits to facilitate payment, do they really have a leg to stand on? Interestingly, my wife also has a loan for the same amount, and is in exactly the same place payment-wise, but has not received any such correspondence. I am grateful that I no longer need to deal with financial emergencies by using such means, but I refuse to let this one go and capitulate to what amounts to a poor attempt to intimidate by a tin-pot law firm. Has anyone experienced a similar set of circumstances as is able to provide a little guidance - your help would be most appreciated.
  4. Does anyone know if these two companies have an agreement? I've had a couple of letters from Provident, and a doorstep call this evening saying that they had bought the debt from Quick Quid and can now offer for me to pay Quick Quid by paying Provident weekly as they now own the debt..?? I am currently in the process of going bankrupt so basically told the man to leave, but find it strange how this has happened...
  5. Hi, I sent a CCA request to Legal Direct Recoveries the DCA which is dealing with my littlewoods account. The balance outstanding is £1600 but at least half of this is charges. I recieved a letter asking me to contact them urgently as they need to discuss the account but there was no mention of my request. I have no intention of phoning them but am waiting to see if they send this. Should I also send a DPA request direct to Littlewoods? and If this debt becomes unenforceable due to no signed CCA can I get the default removed from my credit file?
