  1. Other threads generally state that HSBC only take such action if you make 2 or more claims, by citing the relationship has broken down.
  2. If you sent it 1st class on a friday it would have arrived on a saturday. Problem! There head office is more than likely closed on a saturday. You may have to wait for a few days until someone collects the letter from the Royal Mail.
  3. No response from Pre-Lim letter. LBA sent today.

Letter received from MBNA today, confirming they have received my complaint and are investigating. It further mentions i will receive a response by 12 November.
  5. DCA's do not add interest on to any sums owed. Either Egg pass the debt over to the DCA for collection or the DCA purchase the debt off Egg.

£10 cheque cashed 24th October for SAR, at least im aware it's being dealt with.
  7. DCA's will deal with you by letter and phone first. An IVA should only be used as a last resort. Make a sensible offer of what you can afford to repay, they will try and fob you off and threaten you with legal action. And it's unlikely they will go to court as the judge will not order you to repay anything other than what you can afford. Steer clear of consolidation loans etc and more importantly steer clear of IVA's. Best to get some advice from the citizens advice bureau before you make a rash decision.
  8. I missed two payments in a row and they sent my account to a DCA (Direct Legal and Collections). They wanted me to make an upfront payment of £500. I owe approx £5000. Told them i could'nt afford that and they just got stroppy on the phone. I found out Egg were still taking direct debits from my bank so i hav'nt paid DLC anything yet.
  9. Just your total charges + your overdraft interest on your charges. Should be used at prelim stage.
  10. I am in a position where i have numerous late payments which occured 18mths+ ago and default notices in the same period. Does anyone know that if i were to apply for a mortgage that these details would be provided to any would be lenders. If i omit one of my previous addresses where these bad debts occured on my application form. I know this is illegal but im sure there are plenty of other people wondering the same thing.

Sent my SAR Data protection letter 12.10.2006. Will keep you posted as to how this proceeds. My account has been over it's credit limit for about 2 years at about £2600 for a £2200 credit limit. So im expecting to have at least £1000 of charges.
  12. This applies to people who have only recently entered into a payment arrangement. I believe they had a cut off date sometime around August.
  13. It will cost you about £11 for a £10 postal order. You can cash it back in again but remember to keep the receipt as proof of purchase. Better still get a friend to write a cheque out for you, but remember to write your name, address, and account details on the back of the cheque.
  14. Sent my SAR 1st class recorded delivery Monday 9 October. Will keep you posted as to my progress.
  15. Prelim letter sent 1st class recorded delivery Monday 9 October for £1546.50p.
  16. Send them a postal order for £10. They may delay issuing your statements without this.
  17. I have just begun my claim for £1560 of charges on my HSBC Bank account to be refunded. Before i send the prelimnary letter, could anyone advise whether it is best to send it to my branch or to an address mentioned in the HSBC Contact thread. Many Thanks.
  18. just checked mine again and i can now go back until October 2000. Strange as when i was printing them out at the weekend they only went back until Oct 20001.

    Charges

Im just sending the prelimnary letter requesting repayment of charges on my HSBC account totalling £1560. I have been reading through the forums for about a week and i am confused about what to do in respect of charges. On my prelim letter, i know i send the schedule of charges without the 8% APR on each charge. On the template letter it mentions interest in request of overdraft interest can i omit this bit? Thanks for any help or advice on this.
  20. Just checked again and mine only goes back until Oct 01. Have had my account 10 years. Must be different for everyone. Im just about to reclaim my charges but between Oct 00 and Oct 01, i probably did'nt incur any charges so i won't be requesting the remaining statements that i can't view online.
  21. You can only view the last 5years statements on HSBC internet banking.
