  1. It is confusing because people who knows little or nothing about the topic start giving out nonsense and rubbish.
  2. Wrong, 1000 * 7.2p = £72.00 And this has nothing to do with the finance question other than to confuse the situation even more. What's next? 100,000 miles in 2 years means more added servicing and tyres costs as well? Maybe I should also add the cost of topping up the aircon as well? My question is about finance cost for a new car for 2 years, not the running cost a car for 2 years. I know I do about 8000 miles a year and I entered the correct information on the form and there is no need to confuse the matter further.
  3. I am planning to get a NI plate for a new car. To clarify, it is the XXXNNNN type ones, not the NN-X-NNNNN type ones. I am planning to purchase it from a numberplate dealer. My questions are: 1) Do I just pass the documents (right to use, etc) on to my dealer and they will register it with DVLA and I will tax and use it as usual in GB? 2) Will it show up as normal if I use insurance comparison websites? 3) Will it cost more to insure? 4) Will I get stopped and searched more often? (I seen this claim on some forums) Thanks in adavance.
  4. Should be -1. Wish people will stop spewing out nonsense and misinformation about things they do not know. I just came back from the dealer with a fully personalised quote after negotiation. Cost of car: £14788 Deposit: £4000 24 monthly payment of: £121.84 Finance Facility Fee: £10 Total cost at 2 years: £6934.16 (£4000 + 24*£121.84 + £10) Return the car after 2 years, walk away with no further cost. Keep the car after 2 years, pay GMFV of £7865 and purchase fee of £10. Total cost after 2 years: £14809.16 (£6934.16 + £7865 + £10) GMFV is optional, not payable if returning the car after the end of term. According to this Telegraph example: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/how-to/10339529/How-to-understand-PCP-finance-plans.html It is the total of: Deposit + Total of montly payment + Fees + Final payment NOT Final payment * 2
  5. I am sorry but are you sure you know how PCP works??? According to this http://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/car-finance-pcp-explained/ GMFV is optional, pay up and own the car -or- pay nothing and return the car. "This final value then needs to be paid to settle the finance agreement, either by returning the car or paying out the remaining amount." Therefore: 24 payments of £146.90 equals £3525.60 Plus deposit £4,400.00 Plus Finance facility fee £10.00 Equals £7935.60 according to my calulator. If I decided to keep the car after 2 years Add Purchase fee £10.00 Add GMFV (optional final payment)£7,865.00 Equals £15810.60 according to my calculator. Which also equals to their figure of Total amount payable by customer £15,810.60. Why the need to add the optional payment to the total again???
  6. Thanks to both. While it is true about it will worth less 2 years later, it will still be the same if I paid cash or use a bank loan instead. With a bank loan, the cost will be much more than £45.60. Thanks for confirming my calculations!
  7. Hi all I am looking at buying a new car on Ford Options and the online finance quote comes up with this: Finance plan Ford Options Finance term 25 24 payments of £146.90 Cash price £15,765.00 Customer deposit £4,400.00 Deposit allowance £750.00 Finance facility fee £10.00 Amount of credit £10,615.00 Purchase fee £10.00 Total charge for credit £795.60 Total amount payable by customer £15,810.60 GMFV (optional final payment)£7,865.00 Mileage per annum 9000 miles Excess mileage charge (pence per mile)7.2 So the cost of the car (before any negotiation, just list price) is £15765 Total cost to myself after 2 years (including deposit and GMFV) is £15810.60 Difference = £45.60 Was my calculation right? I am ignoring the £750 "deposit allowance" because it is not coming directly from my pocket but I did include the 2 x £10 fees. Basically I see this and other "dealer's discounts" as just smoke and mirrors to confuse the customer. They are charging me £795.60 in interest and they are giving me £750 to pay them. If my calculation is right, then is this a good deal? I do know that I do not actually own the car on PCP and I need to find £7865 for the GMFV after 2 years. P.S. I am interested to know where the 4.2% APR came from and where is it being applied to.
  8. It is 24 hours now, it is still showing as "Advised". I will not be surprised if it is making its way back to my door mat again.
  9. Fingers cross that it will actually go in the right direction this time. But as I said in my first post, the tracking number is just showing as "Advised" is really worrying as it was that status since Friday when I first posted it and then finding it on my door mat yesterday.
  10. I don't think I can actually claim for lost of the honeymoon because their own terms states: 9.5 Parcelforce Worldwide does not accept liability for any loss of contracts, business, profits, revenue, anticipated savings or any indirect or consequential loss or damage whatsoever or howsoever arising whether from contract, breach of statutory duty, tort (including negligence of Parcelforce Worldwide, its officers, employees, contractors and agents), or otherwise. http://www.parcelforce.com/help-information/terms-and-conditions/conditions-carriage#9 As for me leaving it to the last minute or not, is not their problem, I used their "guaranteed" service and instead of providing me the service they guaranteed, they cannot even send it in the right direction. In any case, I was given 10 working days on 6 June by the embassy to send the documents to them, therefore it was not me that left it to the last minute since I sent them off on 7 June. By the way, I started the visa application process 3 months ago, hardly last minute. But again, in any case, this is of no concern of Parcelforce, their job is to send what I want sending to the right place in the time they guaranteed. http://www.parcelforce.com/send-worldwide/non-account-services/express/faq The only "guarantee" I can see is they made sure they will not be responsible for any loss suffered due to their only incompetence.
  11. It is a bit hard to keep calm when they send it to the "From" address instead of the "To" address... Considering they sent a "Global" Express item from the UK to the UK. If I wanted that, I would had sent it Special Delivery. And to top it off, I am faced with the posibility of missing my honeymoon...
  12. First off, let me explain that I am in Shetland. So other courier services like DHL or FedEx is not an option. I had some documents I need to send to Philippines very urgently for a visa application for a honeymoon. I walked into the local Post Office on Friday, 7 June 2013, and got it sent by Parcelforce Global Express service, which is a "guaranteed" service. I paid £60.60 and was told it will be there on Tuesday, 11 June 2013. Standard Global Express service to Philippines takes 2 days but being in Shetland, it takes an extra day. Saturaday is counted as a working day, so a Tuesday arrival sounds right. So imgaine my horror to get home from work yesterday (Monday, 10 June 2013) to find the package sitting on my door mat! Instead of making its way to Philippines, it went 10 miles the wrong way! So I have to take it back to the Post Office today and was told "this shouldn't happen". The address on it was clearly typed and on the customs form, the "from" and "to" address are both correctly filled in. What do they mean by this shouldn't happen? Clearly it is not the mistake of just one party as it will have to go through sorting before being handed to the postman to carry to my door. I as told by the manager he will make sure it will go correctly this time. However when I just checked (10 hours since handing it to him), the tracking number is still not registred on their system. While I know I can claim back the postage I paid for late delivery (not hopeful as there are many stories of failed claim against Parcelforce on the internet), there is no vaule to the contents and thousands loss if the visa cannot be approved in time. I had emailed them a few times today, but I got no response as well and strangely Parcelforce is not regulated by Ofcom, so I cannot even complain to them.
  13. HiTo start off, I am in Scotland and therefore Scottish Laws apply and my question is based on my current situation and arrangements, am I classed as homeless?I am currently staying in a old croft house owned by a friend's parents without any written agreement. I do pay this friend some money (£300) every month. However this amount was set by me not the friend (or his parents). In fact I do not pay "rent" to the owner of the property but to my friend instead. There is no agreement on how long can i stay there, only a verbal "as long as you need to" when I moved there.According to Shelter (http://scotland.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/advice_topics/renting_rights/about_your_tenancy_rights/non-tenant_occupiers), I am considered a "non-tenant occupier" as there are no real agreement for my stay to be considered a legal tenancy. Is it correct that I can be told to leave at anytime without a court order? Shelter seem to suggest that I can be considered homeless, is that correct? Thanks.
  14. Not sure how "healthy" your bank balance is, but in my case, it will push it into overdraft and cost me £1 a day in charges, not acceptable.
  15. RESULT!!! And that is not from the useless call centres or mods on BTCare forum. As I said earlier, got a email reply from the CEO's PA within 17 minutes of sending the email. And Just a moment ago, got a phone call from a lady in the Executive Level Complaints stating that: 1) International Freedom had been reinstated 2) £295 will NOT be taken from my direct debit 3) She will personally put a stop and adjustment to my bill as soon as it is out on Monday Best of all, a phone number to her personally in Edinburgh, not to India! Time from sending of email to BT's CEO to problem solved by a person: 6 hours!
  16. Actually, it is the person at CAB that contacted me after he got off the phone with BT. I went onto live chat myself later to confirm what he told me, and printed the chat as future evidence. I know BT is very big, etc. But isn't that what computers are supposed to solve, an intergrated solution? Tomorrow is my bill date, saying they cannot remove/stop the £295 is just rubbish, all it takes is just a few button push. Also, why can they add "notes" to my account but not update my account? If they have a billing program that they cannot override, then it is not a very good system is it? Anyone who had previous problems with BT will tell you how difficult it is to get refunds, which is why I do not want it to go into the bill tomorrow. Emailing BT complants is useless, they do not reply to you. Calling 150 is useless as it goes to India. Using LiveChat is useless as they cannot carry out any changes to the account. Using BTCare forum is useless as the mods are more interested in editing posts that the do not like. BUT emailing Ian Livingston is useful as I got a reply from his PA within 17 minutes and the matter is now being looked into by his senior management team.
  17. When I check my Direct Debit towards the end of last month, I was surprised to see that it had gone up to £110+ instead of my usual £35-45. I looked in my useage and noticed that there is a number of charged international calls towards the end of the billing period (2 Mar - 9 Mar). I am on International Freedom and thought I had gone over its allowance so I thought it was my fault and thought nothing much of it. However I did set up email alerts to warn me of calls over £1 and if the total calls are over £10. Next day I got a flood of email warnings from BT prompting me to check my bills and useage in detail. I noticed that my International Freedom package was stopped on 2 Mar for some reason. I did NOT cancel it myself as I use. However I did remember someone from India calling me around the end of Feb asking me if I want unlimited weekends and evening calls on my internet phone for free, as long as I stay with BT with another 12 months. I had no plans to leave BT and since it is free, I just OKed it and thought nothing much of it. I did, however, received emails from BT telling me that the free evening and weekend will go live on 1 Mar. Strangely, according to my last bill, it is the same date the International Freedom gone off. At no point did I say I want it off nor did anyone tell me it will go off. What I believe is that idiot from India had cancelled my International Freedom pack. So when I checked my unbilled useage on 1 Apr, I got the shock of my life with £295 of unbilled calls. I know there is no point phoning India again as I know I will either be told; Not their problem or Pay up now and it will get credited back to me in my future bills or They will not understand what I said and I will not understand what they said Writing to BT will also take too long as my bill cycle is around the 10th of every month and I do not want £300+ to come out of my account. I did sent a email complaint, but as usual, BT did not even bother to reply to me. I went straight to my local CAB and they offer to call BT for me, and promised that it will NOT be to India. They have a different number to the usual 150 the general public calls. It is a number to an UK call centre and the following was what they said: They "cannot" find the recording of the call I had with India at the end of Feb and therefore they cannot prove if I had or had not taken off International Freedom myself or is it the Indian guy that took it off. BUT they agree it makes no sense for me to cancel a £5 per month package and pay £70+ a week or £295 for 3 weeks, and therefore it is very unlikely that it will be me that took it off. They will refund the £70 I paid for last month's bill, put a stop on the £295 for this month and reinstate my International Freedom package. As all these was comminicated with the advicer at CAB on the phone instead of direct to me, I went on to BT's Live Chat to confirm what was being said. All the above was confirmed and I made it a point to save the whole conversion with the person on Live Chat. However, today, 8 days after the call and chat to BT and 1 more day to bill day, £295 is still showing as unbilled and no International Freedom on my account. I dare not call my friends and family overseas as I am concern that it will push the unbilled amount even higher. My next bill is dued in 4 days time and unbilled calls plus line rental plus broadband means it will be over £300. i do not know if I should; just pay the next bill and then try to claim it back from BT or stop my Direct Debit as the bill is in dispute Option 1 could mean it will take a very long time to claim it back from BT and push my account into overdraft (guess who have to pay for the overdraft charges?). Option 2 could mean that BT will disconnect my line and report me to CRAs and/or DRAs, screwing up my credit reference file.
  18. Hi can you explain how to do this? Just send them the bill for the fee and then after 14 days, start a MCOL claim?
  19. Changes as highlighted: I am well aware of the fact that some debt collection agencies are known to randomly claim that individuals owe non-existent debts, therefore, will not entertain any demand without evidences of such debts. You may have noticed that I had not provided any indentifying information about myself. This is to prevent anyone from using the information to create more non-existent debts for me. This letter is NOT signed to prevent my signature from being copied onto non-existent credit agreements.
  20. Right, instead of "aware of the fact" or something similar, I would put "to prevent anyone from..."
  21. Red Debt Collection PO Box 203 Leeds LS11 1BG Atten: Kelvin Allmark Your Ref: XXXXX My Ref: XXXXX Dear Kevin Allmark, I DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY DEBT TO YOU OR ANY COMPANY YOU CLAIM TO REPRESENT With reference to your letter dated 12/03/2010 regarding the account with the above reference number, which you allegedly claim is owed by myself. You claim that you had been appointed by Lowell Portfolio to recover a “debt” from me. I must inform you that: a) I have no knowledge of such a debt 3G Mobile and since you did not provide any evidence or information in regards to this “debt”, I am also refusing to acknowledge this “debt”. b) As stated on your own letter, the last payment date was 30/01/2004, I would point out that under the Limitation Act 1980 Section 5 “an action founded on simple contract shall not be brought after the expiration of six years from the date on which the cause of action accrued.” It had been 2233 days or 6 years 1 month and 12 days since the last payment date as claimed by you. I would also point out that the OFT say under their debt collection Guidance on statute barred debt that “it is unfair to pursue the debt if the debtor has heard nothing from the creditor during the relevant limitation period”. The last payment of this alleged debt was made over six years ago and no further acknowledgement or payment has been made since that time. Unless you can provide evidence of payment or written contact from us in the relevant period under Section 5 of the Limitation Act, we suggest that you are no longer able to take any court action against us to recover the alleged amount claimed. The OFT Debt Collection Guidance states further that “continuing to press for payment after a debtor has stated that they will not be paying a debt because it is statute barred could amount to harassment contrary to section 40 (1) of the Administration of Justice Act 1970”. Furthermore ignoring and/or disregarding claims that debts have been settled or are disputed and continuing to make unjustified demands for payment amounts to physical/psychological harassment. If you have any difficulties understand any part of the law, you are advised to contact a solicitor. c) I am well aware of the fact that the Lowell Group is known to randomly claim that individuals owe non-existent debts, therefore, will not entertain any demand without evidences of such debts. d) You may have noticed that I had not provided any indentifying information about myself as I am also aware that the Lowell Group will use the information to create more non-existent debts for me. Therefore it is up to you to prove to me that I am who you think I am. Should you fail to do so, it is a case of mistaken identity and any further contacts will be considered harassment and I shall report you and the Lowell Group to the appropriate authorities. I would ask that no further contact be made concerning the above account unless you can provide evidence as to my liability for the debt in question. I await your written confirmation that this matter is now closed. Otherwise I will have no option but to make a complaint to the trading standards department and informing the OFT of your actions. Should you choose to ignore this and insist on further harassment, you agree to the following payment terms to me: 1) £10 for every letter I have to write to you. 2) £2 per minute or part thereof of every phone call you made to me. 3) £10 for every phone call that I have to make to you on your 0844 number PLUS £2 per minute or part thereof. 4) £5 for every phone call that I have to make to you on a 01 or 02 number PLUS £2 per minute or part thereof. 5) £25 per visit PLUS £2 per minute or part thereof to deal with any agents of yourself that visit my address. 6) £500 travel expenses per trip PLUS £100 per day accommodation PLUS £150 per day lost of earning to attend meetings or court. As a gesture of good will, this first letter is provided free of charge to you. Any further correspondence to you will be charged accordingly. [Not signed] This letter is NOT signed as you are known to copy signatures to put on non-existent credit agreements. You should have my name and address, therefore this is NOT provided as well. 19/03/10 This letter is sent by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery with the reference XXXXXX
  22. People seem to forget that the OP's LL is a criminal or have criminal friends that acts as his legbreakers. Maybe OP should just grab his stuff and disappear. Safer for his legs that way.
