They do indeed, CB. A couple of days ago I read a news feature about predictions made 100 years ago and how many of them had come to pass. Received a reply from my MP, Rosie Cooper. It seems I was pushing at an open door, because she is very much in favour of action to protect consumers from legal loan sharks. Here’s an extract from her letter: It’s essential that the Government gets a grip on this industry before the pressures of Christmas force thousands more consumers in West Lancashire and around the country into the hands of these legal loan sharks. That’s not so, cerberus. Some policies do. My daughter was sold a Paymentcare policy by Abbey in 2004, to protect her mortgage repayments. She was then, and still is, self-employed. The policy document clearly states that cover is provided for the self-employed and the definitions and eligibility paragraphs specify the exact terms. However, it was only when she submitted a claim to Abbey/Santander and argued, among other points, that she was ineligible by dint of self-employment, that her attention was drawn to the fact.
