  1. I'm inclined to agree though ID thieves may be interested in the OP posting a letter including his O2 Account number, mobile number and full address on a public forum
  2. First thing to ask, what was the original debt for (ie loan, credit card, overdraft etc) EDIT I've also asked this be moved to it's own thread
  3. The following thread may also be of interest to you http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/general-consumer-issues/2904-british-gas-power-flush.html
  4. If they aren't standard account services than perhaps the people involved in the test case should take note if that is Natwest's official stance on the charges. Every other bank apart from the RBS group to my knowledge complies with the code and gives notice (interestingly the last time I complained to Natwest about charges, they totally ignored the issues I raised about the banking code and just gave the standard charges response.... ie test case blah blah blah) Certainly a visa electron card would be better from the protection aspect however it is still not as widely accepted particularly online. I would prefer a solo card over visa electron (or alternatively, Natwest to follow Lloyds TSBs example and issue a visa debit card with their basic account) I think I'll be switching banks pretty sharpish if they try to give me an electron card
  5. I'm guessing natwest just took the money and didn't actually forewarn you of their intention to do so. In that case go back to Natwest and tell them that section 5.5 of the banking code requires them to give you 14 days notice prior to taking any charges. Yourbank: Interesting about Natwest moving to visa debit. I seriously hope that they dont issue all their solo customers with a visa electron card or I'll be seriously miffed that they are replacing my card with a worse one
  6. They may also have assessed the loan application using your other accounts as a basis for the decision
  7. He was bumping your post to the top of the forum as you hadn't had an answer to your question so people might see it
  8. Can someone who has been knocked back due to the PCAs limitations on mental health assessment, reapply once the changes come into effect and be assessed under the new rules?
  9. On 3 I beleive you are now tied in for duration of the contract. Could be wrong though
  10. I'd personally have either given them 1p for the tissue or returned it to them. As daft as it sounds surely the more sensible approach would have been to either buy a pack of tissues given they were in a supermarket which clearly sells tissues or to hotfoot it into the bogs and use the bog roll or hand towels!
  11. If it only arrived on Friday, the distance selling regulations would still apply and you could return the handset under them
  12. Thing is why should anyone be obliged to send an item out when paypal is holding their money to ransom? Would you go into the supermarket, fill your trolley go to the till and then say "ok you can have your money in 21 days time but I still want the goods in the meantime!"?. And let's not even get started on what would happen if they buyer didn't leave positive feedback or filed a claim with paypal after receiving their item My last listing on ebay had the following disclaimer: "In line with ebay's requirement to offer paypal on all listings even ones that are collection, paypal is offered to any bidders with six heads" Needless to say I would have required photographic proof before accepting paypal.
  13. Not trying to ruin anyone's thread but you only have to go through a small handful of threads on this site to see that if you try reporting a crime to the police such as fraud all they will do is fob you off and not be interested. Their jobs are to uphold the law and IMO they aren't doing a very good job of that
  14. Probably on the basis that all the police do is deal with traffic accidents and have a drugs raid every now and then. Try reporting an actual crime to them and they are either not interested or fob you off with it being a civil matter
  15. Is it now a condition of employment for BH that staff must now log on this forum and try to defend the company they work for?
  16. You should still be able to return the phone unless you bought it from carphone warehouse or more than 14 days have passed. The only exception is if you upgraded onto it which from sounds of it you took out a new connection
  17. Those DCAs will try anything to get their money wont they
  18. Speaking as someone who lodged a complaint against the police for an incident that happened in March this year which still hasn't been resolved beyond getting the odd phone call trying to push local resolution rather than taking the complaint further, I agree 100% with this post
  19. Was about to suggest the same thing. Open a new account if you can, transfer the balance over to that account and then close the account. Problem solved
  20. Well got knocked back for the CCG. Seems like a day of getting knocked back with me losing my incap appeal today as well. Did get an offer of a further budgeting loan of £166 though. Not sure why like by not looking a gift horse in mouth
  21. Not sure, recently moved home and had to change GPs and not been to see the new ones yet
  22. Believe me there have been times over the last 3 years when the DWP have made me feel like slitting my wrists as well
  23. I've been claiming income support due to incapacity as I'm diagnosed with depression. In May I was subjected to the joy that is the Personal Capability Assessment (something that works so well with mental illnesses which can be different from person to person and difficult to diagnose especially by someone who isn't your GP and in the space of 5 minutes but I digress) and failed the assessment and so my benefit was stopped. I appealed and starting claiming the income support at the reduced rate pending appeal. Had my appeal today and despite my pointing out everything the DWP had got wrong when making my decision (including a descriptor about why I stopped work that applied in 2006 but for some reason doesn't apply now despite the fact I haven't returned to work since 2006) the appeal still sided with the DWP and stood by their decision. I can however appeal the appeal. My questions are 1. If I choose to do this will I still get income support at the reduced rate, or will I have to claim JSA (and just not look very hard) in the meantime 2. Is there any point in appealing when all these organisations use the same flawed system and are in bed with each other anyway
