Well there's the clear breach of data protection by informing a 3rd party of the previous tenant's rent arrears I'd have thought

You've already had some excellent advise Only thing I can add is regarding the sure start grant, you can claim any time up until the baby is 3 months old so if you start receiving a qualifying benefit in that time scale get your claim in. In the meantime, if you are struggling for things for the baby you may want to try your local freecycle network which you can find HERE. Can't guarantee you will find everything you need but it might help until you get things sorted

Recommended Banks for those with Bad Credit

Lloyds issue a visa debit with their basic account. As do Barclays. In both cases you will need to apply in Branch Natwest/RBS may be worth a shot as you can apply online and it will tell you right away what kind of account they can offer you. If it says step/key account though you will only get a solo card. They are meant to be switching to visa soon though whether basic account customers will get a full visa or the crap visa electron remains to be seen -
Hey beans have gone up too. Tin of value beans used to be in the region of 15p. They are now closer to 30p

You really should reclaim the charges as well as that would reduce the amount you owe them

I'm not sure on the legalities, someone else will be along for that. However I had something similar happen a few years ago when I ordered a mobile phone off the internet. Was posted special delivery though I'm at work. Check the tracker and it says it was delivered. Upon calling Royal Mail they say they left it with someone else in my block of flats. I go round to see them and you guessed it they left the package outside my door (more likely they took the phone to the nearest cash converters and bought themselves lots of drugs). It took a month and a half however eventually I got a replacement from the retailer

Virgin Media £20 name change

If OH is out of contract is there any reason why he couldn't cancel and then his brother set up a brand new account. As his brother would be a new customer there is every chance he would get a better deal anyway -
It also covers things like direct debits which will show on the account the day they go out regardless of if they will clear or not

Should paypal be supporting the sale of counterfeit goods?
davethorp replied to nigel8013's topic in General Consumer Issues
Paypal will only offer protection for items not as described if said item was bought on the ebay selling platform (which I'm guessing yours wasn't) Martin's advice is sound and trading standards should be your first call -
The vast majority of the time I've had to take a crisis loan has been as a result of the DWPs own incompetence with my benefit. For them to then charge interest on this is a bit of an insult. A reform of the social fund system is required in my view though with the main change being a change to the rules to make them fairer on couples. At present two single people can borrow 2*£1500=£3000. A couple can only borrow £1500

Advice needed about Direct debits and Data protection
davethorp replied to riosmum's topic in General Consumer Issues
She'll need to talk to them to set up the correct bank details. But as mobiles.co.uk passed the wrong bank account details on to T-mobile it is they who are liable for any charges she has incurred as a result -
Advice needed about Direct debits and Data protection
davethorp replied to riosmum's topic in General Consumer Issues
Letter to mobiles.co.uk head office by recorded delivery (ammend to suit) Dear Sir/Madam, I write regarding my recent order for a t-mobile contract placed on your website. During the order process I set up a direct debit to pay my monthly subscriptions to t-mobile and provided you with my current bank details in order for this direct debit to be set up on my behalf. I have just been contacted by t-mobile and informed that the direct debit for my first bill has failed. I was most puzzled by this as the funds were available in my account. Upon checking it transpires that you set the direct debit up on an old bank account of mine that I no longer use. As a result of your error I have incurred charges of £xx.xx from my bank and £xx.xx from t-mobile. I hold you fully liable for these charges as you were provided with the correct details but chose to set the direct debit up on the wrong account. I expect full payment of £xx.xx within 14 days. Should this not be forthcoming a further letter before action will be sent before filing a claim against your company in the county court for the full sum owed plus interest. I trust this will not become necessary Yours Faithfully SIGN NAME -
Wrongly ordered to court by Shoosmith Solicitors

And of course if they don't pay prepare for the satisfaction and irony of filing a claim against them -
Only additional advice I can offer is that if they did take something such as the car like they said they would, ring the police straight away and report a theft, as without a court order, that is what it is!

Woolworths financial position was all over the papers last week. As you paid cash you have very little in the way of protection if the worst happens. Sorry I can't offer more help

Indeed all Mr Safestyle has done with the defence of his company is bumped a thread highlighting why people wouldn't want to deal with his company. Well done.... give that man a pay rise!

There was always going to be some companies that tried to take advantage of the change for themselves rather than pass it on. I am pleased that every company I deal with so far has passed the reduction on
