  1. Hi Would appreciate advice on the following Me & hubby currently live in a house together looking at moving but due to me having bad credit from a previous relationship a credit check through an agency would come back as a refusal - we were lucky through this house that the agency did checks but landlord is a friend of a friend so he let us off!! We always pay rent and are moving as mhy hubby lost a job and we need to move to a place with more work! So...how do we get a house with bad credit plus we would struggle with the huge deposit?? Any help be fab
  2. Hi, very long srory but in brief : - moved in the property march 2009 - rang to set up payment plan - no bill received till 9 months later and could not afford to pay all in one go - npower wanted payments that were too high for us to pay - we paid bits here and there when we could - disputed bill and turns out npower had readings wrong way round for night/day - they finally re-did bill over a year later - we now have a £3000 bill and they want £200 per month - we have not got this They wont lower it any further and we cannot pay it. Is there a hardship letter i can write, or anything i can do asap to sort this once and for all.
  3. I work in retail and have paid into a union scheme for the last 2-3 years. I have recently cancelled my membership and have never used their services. It has come to my understanding that if an employee is not in the union but for example has an issue where they need to use the union, all they need to do is contact the union that day and sign up and then they can use their services......so how has me paying each month benefited me differently to how it would benefit me to just call and sign up if a situation arises where I need their help? Can i claim a refund of what I have paid?
  4. The window is painted shut and there is no fan, we have asked the window to be opened and have informed them of the mould...this should not be down to us to pay for surely
  5. We have paid the fees - anything for a simple life but probably should have questioned it! Since we moved in no windows in the house opened...untill last summer when they managed to chip away the paint that sealed the bedroom window shut. This is now the only window in the house that opens. The bathroom window is painted shut and mould is getting very bad plus paint peeling badly off the ceiling. I dont want us getting charged because our bathroom is getting what I can only say as 'minging'!!!
  6. Myself and my husband have been living here for 2 years and pay rent on the 1st of each month......we have been a day late with 2 payments (probably due to paying by online transfer) and the landlord states they have incurred fees with the bank and we have had to pay the £70 fees back to the landlord. I told him we would pay and at the same time requested they come and take a look at a mould issue due to no ventilation in the bathroom. We found the house through a friend - ie our friend is friends with the landlord and if we pay a day late or mention certain things like problems with the house, the landlord goes to our friend and discusses things that I think he should not be really. So.....how do i ask him to check out our bathroom problem and at the same time ask him not to involve our friend?? its like if we say or do the wrong thing the landlord runs to our friend....like its his fault! Then we get a lecture off our friend Annoying...
  7. We do not live at the same address they are chasing money for (but it is the same council), my husband lived there over 3 years ago He did not let them into his previous property
  8. I have a feeling the council will say its now out of their hands and we have to deal with the bailiff!!
  9. They have only said charges may be incurred, they are just trying to collect the debt my husband owes the council. Also we still live within the same authority. Do we ring the bailiff?
  10. The original debt was £537.26 He paid £10 week but not paid since april. The debt is now £301.76. The letter states 'please note we may re-attend your premises with a locksmith to remove any seized goods (as in accordance with the law) even in your abscence'
  11. Myself and my husband live in a house that we pay council tax for but my husband has a £300 debt on a previous address which he agreed to pay £10 a week to the council...he was paying this but since getting married in april we have completely overlooked it and not paid it.The original bill was over £500 so he has paid a chunk of it. He has had no reminder letters from the council regarding this. Today we have a letter hand delivered from philips bailiffs saying they have been to seize goods and if he fails to pay immediately they may reattend with a locksmith and seize goods wether we are in or not. If we are unable to pay in full immediately we have to call the bailiff personally on the number provided. Please help, its not a massive debt but we have not got £300 to pay immediately, not sure what to do first
  12. letter today from collections direct wanting me to make payment....is this just npower? Waiting a response from ceo but dont want an unnanounced knock at the door! can i not change suppliers so my npower debt doesnt get any higher! grrrrrrrr
  13. I have told them i would rather they take an attachment of earnings than deal with bailiffs, they have agreed so i guess thats better. they can only take a certain percentage of my wage anyway
  14. Oh i didnt write any of that on it And i hand wrote it so no copy saved on pc, will give it a week and write another and address correctly maybe!!
  15. I dont suppose the CEO will even personally open it to be honest lol! Just waiting for a knock on the door to say they are cutting me off......they wanted £200/month but i cant manage that, its a ridiculous amount!!
  16. Dont have a car or garden furniture anyway!! Dealt with them before and cannot stand them! Told the council id pay them but they basically said 'tough, deal with jacobs'! Im just gonna pay the council
  17. Just come back from honeymoon and failed to pay council tax arrears that i was paying at £50/month The letter gave me 14 days to respond but with being away this was not possible so i have a letter stating this will go to Jacobs Bailliffs - I HATE THIS COMPANY!! I emailed the council to say i will get back on track with payments and that i have been away but they say i now have to deal with the bailiffs, i dont want to , shall i just keep paying the council? What will the bailliffs do first, knock on my door or write to me -
  18. There is no current bill as they just keep adding to the balance, i previously paid small amounts here and there but nothing major but just to show willing. I have written a letter to the ceo today but still feel i will get nowhere, i cant possibly pay what they want. Just got married too so this makes me sad that I cant put it right
  19. The meter was read correctly etc and no power was disconnected. i dont want them to disconnect me, very worried. dont seem to get anywhere with npower .
  20. Moved into my home 2 years ago, originally got a huge first bill from npower, but not untill being here for 9 months. I contaced them to say the bill was unusually high and after several months of trying to convince them it was wrong they finally reduced it as it seems my night and day readings were the wrong way round, i have night storage heaters. They were then demanding payment from me which i could not make, the bill has got higher and higher, in april they agreed i could pay £200 per month but i cannot manage this, but they will accept no lower, help, im worried they will be here to cut me off soon
