That explains a hell of a lot. Have you ever known any politician to give a straight answer. No matter what the question is all they do is keep repeating themselves whether its the answer to your question or not. Write a letter to a government department and I bet your letters will be replied in a similar way to that of 1st Credit.

They know exactly what is required from them by law. They even employ pet in house lawyers. They work on the assumption that you the alleged debtor are not fully aware of your rights but thanks to sites like this and some of the undoubted experts on here their bluff, bullying and blatant mistruths (by some) are failing to intimidate any more

NEVER EVER RING THEM If by some fluke they get through to you if you mistakenly answer the phone Do not co-operate with them. Refuse to answer security questions and hang up.

You would think these DCAs would get the message. You dont answer their phone calls you would think they would get the message. Are you any more likely to answer them or ring them if they ring neighbours. Lowells rang me to work once. Obviously they asked for me and I played dumb. The demanded a mobile or home number. I informed them that under the DPA I could not passs them out. they kept on demanding and HE said there are 250 people employed here and we will keep ringing until we get it. Oh I said tahts hardly good business practice. He said well just give us the numbers and we wont ring. I replied ''Did I mention that its our company policy to record ALL calls. Guess what. He hung up:D

Photocopy every letter they have sent you, hilight the dates on them and post them recorded delivery. In fact photocopy them at least 20 times and post them daily to them. If you happen to forget to put a stamp on the letter they will have to pay the post office postage plus £1. So please dont forget the stamp. To guarantee acceptance mark the letter as they do IMPORTANT COMMUNICATION THIS IS NOT A CIRCULAR

This is a standard letter from these people. Loads of us have got them. You will be getting phone calls from them next. They are chasing me for a very old debt which I think is statute barred but Im just waiting to make sure. There are plenty of more knowledgable folk on here than me but a quick search will reveal much much more about their practices.

They cant simply declare you bankrupt. They would have a lot of legal procedure to go through first of all. I stand to be corrected but I thought the amount had to be over 500 before thaty could apply to make you bankrupt. The Courts are the ones who will decide. DO NOT EVEN TALK TO THEM ON THE PHONE. Send them the harassment letter too

You should get Tiglet to produce a deed of assignment to say she/he has the right to be handling your thread. There could be a breach of the DPA here.

Thanks guys for the laugh. I will give them a ring from a public call box sometime and behave like a complete imbecile to them. If they ask me who I am I'll say you should know, you called me. As regards witholding your number I read on another forum that some of the less scrupulous DCAs (are there any scrupulous ones) use illegal electronic devices to trace withheld numbers
