Hi all

not familliar with this forum but could do with any advice from someone in the know please,

Im not sure about all the exact details and will find out this evening, but this is what I know,

My friend has booked a 2 week holiday in gambia with her boyfriend around about 2 months ago and paid up fully, now her father has been in and out of hospital with cancer and at the point of booking the holiday she was convinced he was stable as the doctors were pleased with his progress,

however he has now taken a turn for the worse and has been told he has weeks to live which obviously has made the daughter not want to go on holiday,

She has explained this to the holiday company and they have explained that because she knew he was ill when booking they are refusing to give her a refund and she will lose the whole lot,

having said that the familly has encouraged her to travel-whch is this coming monday, which she is reluctant to do as she wants to be at her fathers side,

Today is Friday and he has been took into hospital which looks like he is going to be induced with pain killers and it is likely that he wont make the next couple of weeks,

the daughter will definetly not travel as she wants to be there at his bed.

so my question is related to the money back that she will stand to lose ,can this be claimed back and as she got any rights regarding this and what is the best option if any for her to do.

thanks in advance

Any thoughts or views?

has she got a right to get her money back at this late stage or are the holiday company right in saying she had booked the holiday when he was ill so she shouldnt have booked it,

In fairness to her she thought that he wouldnt have became ill in such a short time and as the doctors were pleased with his progress and expected him to have a longer period of health.
