i dont know if this is the right forum to ask this but i couldnt see any other that would be suitable. when i posted my first thread i gave it a long title and would now like to change it it carter vs barclays but dont know how . can anyone tell me how to do this ? many thanks sorry if this is the wrong forum linda

just to let you know that i have received a letter from barclays this morning and i am wondering what is the best way to deal with it. Dear Mr & Mrs ***** We refer to your letter of 9th January requesting information under the terms of the Data Protection Act. You have enclosed a postal order for £10 Please be advised that the fee in this matter is £10 per person and we await provision of this additional sum before proceeding. Whilst writing we would mention that in fact you require specific and limited information, for example duplicate account statement, these may be provided without charge and your initial payment will be returned. Your further contact is awaited in due course. Yours sincerely Peter Townsend Manager, Barclays Data Protection Do i phone and ask for the last six years statements and not bother with any other info or do i phone and ask for the statements and any info on myself or phone and ask for statements and send another £10 for info on my husband. I put both names on the sar as it is a joint account and thought that would be best. also the address on the top of the letter is Privacy & Data Protection Radbroke Hall Knutsford Cheshire WA16 9EU do i reply direct to Peter Townsend at this address or still use the London address. darren just to let you know i know how you feel i have bad debts and th ebank havent helped. i posted my sar letter asking for all my statements last week so i am eager to get started. i have read the faq on here but i have to print them out and read them over and over again . there are some wonderful people on here and due to their encouragment i ham willing to go for it. i will watch your thread to see how you go on good luck linda x

hi just to let you know that i have been sent the application forms for a new bank account by nat west and signed and posted them back the same day. its only a basic account but will enable me to have some control over by debts. fingers crossed its a successful application. i have got some folders together and i am trying to get my self into some sort of order so i am organised. thats not something i find easy. i have about 3 credit cards and i am wondering if you can claim back charges with these. i dont know quite how that works with credit cards. if someone could advice me. also i know this sounds really thick but i am not very computer literate and i can reply to threads but spend ages trying to work out how to start a new thread. what do i click on to do it ? i dont want to waste peolples time reading throught this when i could post on the right forum. thanks for any advice linda x

just wondering if the bundle has to arrive at court 14 days before court date then is it just the one bundle for the court or do you send one for barclays ? good luck kez i have only just started so i will follow your link and see what happens linda

HI everyone i have finally taken the plunge and i am sending my S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) letter to barclays today along with my £10. its a bit scary and this is just the first step. i have online banking with barclays and i am able to check my statements for the last 3 months and they have taken wait for it a whopping £855 in charges. its no wonder i am up to my ears in debt. i applied for a basic account at nat west yesterday so hopefully that will allow me to have mine and my husbands wages paid into that. i want to say a big thank you to phillipa who has given me the stength to do something about this . fingers crossed

thnks so much for your replies. i am going to try and sort out another bank account tomorrow so that i can get started with barclays. what do i say if they ask why i want to open a bank account with say for instance nat west ? i have been with barclays for about 25years. they must have had their moneys worth out of me !! love linda x

Hi i did a newbie post here a couple of months ago but havent found the courage to go through with things but now things are at a desperate stae its now s**t or bust . . i am going to get a grip of things now and i hope you will support me. i am going to try and open a new bank account this week and when that is done i am going to send the first letter to barclays telling them of my intentions. they have charged me £365 in charges from 5/12/2006 to 5/1/2007 just one month and this has been happening for i dont know how long. yes i have gone over the agreed overdraft but sometimes the bank charges have come to more than the direct debits that they have refused to pay !! also i am about £25,000 in debt and have decided to go for an iva i havent contacted anyone yet but if anyone knows of someone they would reccomended to me then lets hear it from you. i had a cousin who was only 2 years older than me who went to bed just the week before xmas and just died in her sleep and that was a big wake up call for me. i need to be in control and end these sleepless nights and mood swings caused by stress due to DEBT i will over the next few weeks need loads of support i am not too good on the technical side so i really need a dummies guide. i have tried to get throught the questions and answers but you lose me when you talk about interest rates and database and spreadsheets. hope you will be with me love linda x x ps simple thing i know but how do i look for replies to my post without trawling through all the posts - see what i mean about needing your help !!!

well i think i am going to take the plunge and get my request for 6 years bank statements in the post. from 5/12/2006 to 5/1/2007 just one month they have charged me £365 bank charges/ i know i am overdrawn but i also pay £18 for the additions account that i dont use ay of the benefits except the £2250 overdraft. i am also considering going for an iva as i have around £25000 worth of debt but most of it is with barclays i must make a start to get this sorted and i think the time is right reading all your postings is giving me the courage. any advice please

i too have a n additions acount and besides the debt i now have of a £2000 overdraft i have never used its benefits. i pay about £18 a month for it but if i cancel it i think the bank will want all my overdraft back ? i have just checked and i have paid £365 this month in bank fees to barclays . i am in serious debt and was thinking of going for an iva but most of my debt is with barclays what does anyone advise
