  1. Hi, can anybody advise please? I currently have an oustanding debt with Vanquis Credit Card that totals £2812.42. I have an agreement with them to pay £40 a month for next 6mths then review the situation as i am currently experiencing dificulty paying all my bills. They were reluctant at first to agree to this but after threatning to pay £1 pm they have accepted this. This morning i have received a letter from Lewis Debt Recovery, a local firm i believe in West Yorks, offering me a 50% discount on my balance. They say if i pay £1406.21 in 7days to bring the matter to a speedy conclusion this will settle my account. My question is why? Is this a tactic to get me to contact them? Why have Vanquis themselves not offered me this? Should i contact Vanquis to check if they have agreed to this? If genuine, this is a fantastic offer and i would beg/borrow and try to raise this amount to pay this debt off and get it off my case forever. If i do pay this settlement can i ask them to remove any bad marks on my credit file as part of the deal? Any advice/help with this matter is very welcome.
  2. Will have to check that. Im going to write to them and ask them to close the account and wipe all charges or im going to complain to FSA. Fingers crossed they wipe it.
  3. I recently had an issue with Vanquis similar to this one. After agreeing a monthly payment of £40 pm with Vanquis i got a letter demanding full payment from Impact debt collections. I think i will have to consider a complaint myself.
  4. So whats the best form of action? ive reclaimed bank charges before but that was a long time ago and me thinks they are wise to that now...
  5. Hi everyone, can anybody advise me please? My wife has a Nationwide flex account which she has not used since opening a new bank account 2 years ago. I noticed last year that her statement from this account was £15 overdrawn, must have been this way for 2yrs as all direct debits etc were cancelled when she opened her new account. After getting a statement today we noticed that the account is now £75 overdrawn as for the past 3 months they have charged her £20 pm for an unarranged overdraft. Firstly, can they do this? and if they can why now and not anytime over the last 2 years? How do we approach them to ask them to think again? she does not need or use the account so can she close it to stop anymore charges or does she have to pay the overdrawn amount before she can close it? Any help is greatly appretiated.
  6. Can anyone give me some advice please? i bought a new acer7540 laptop from pc world on boxing day, from day 1 it seems to turn the volume down of its own accord (as if possesed). after ringing the tech guys twice and uninstalling then reinstalling various software i decided to return the laptop to pc world and ask for a replacement as it is only 3 weeks old and well within the 28 days. i have been told that unless the fault happenes when they are examining it they cant exchange for a new 1. This is frustrating as the fault only happens now and again and is obviously not going to do it when im in the store with the guy watching, and i know as soon as i get it home it will do it again. pc world have today agreed to take it for 24 hours and see if the fault happens when they test it. Where do i stand if they find no fault?

  8. Can anyone help with this one please? I was on a reduced contract with sky where i was paying half price for 12 months. The contract ended on 31 dec 2008, so i contacted them by e-mail about 2 weeks before to say i wanted to cancel my contract,(was hopeing to get same deal again).I got an e-mail back saying someone would telephone me but nobody did so i thought stuff them, my contract had ended i was not locked in, i forgot about it. On the 16th of jan they cancelled my service so i thought fine they will get in touch for me to pay for the 16 days as i was not in a contract. How wrong was i. I am now looking at a bill for £95.04 and a debt collection letter from Wescot. Where do i stand on this please?
  9. I thought it was 18 days from the date you received the sd. i received it on 13th
  10. Ok guys so do i just go off to court and show them my correspondence with capquest and ask to have it set aside?
  11. Hi 42man i havent set it aside do i have to now or can i do it fi it comes back? i just dont fancy the hassle of going to court if i can help it.
  12. hi guys I have just received a letter from Capquest this morning, it says: We thank you for your correspondence. Please find attached your £1 fee for a copy of yous agreement. We would advise you that Littlewoods Finance have been unable to provide us with a copy of the agreement and we are in the process of referring this account back to our client. from Martin Best Does this mean it is all over or do i expect more correspondence?
  13. Thanks guys, i have sent letters m and n today by recorded delivery. Do i have to wait for a reply before i proceed to getting it set aside by court? I havent had any contact over this debt for at least 9 years so it is definately statutes barred.
