  1. Hi there, its been a while since i've been on here (claimed bank and cc charges long time ago now) but had a baby since then!! Any how I have a small query. We have re-mortgaged recently and received a letter this morning from Shenstone Properties demanding outstanding groundrent. I understand this is due to havng a leasehold property, however we have never received anything prior to this letter today requesting money? What is more confusing the amount is only £6.84 and admin & recovery costs are £70!! And they have threatened us with County Court summons for recoveryof o/s ground rent and costs which may result in us incurring additional charges in excess of £250??? How can they threaten us with this when we have never had chance to pay this grd rent in over 4 yrs?? We've not had one letter about it from them before.... They do quote these charges are allowed for in section 146 (3 & 5) of the Law of Property Act Please can someone advise? Carol

  3. I have just sent my rejection of their settlement offer letter to Goldfish who's Customer Liaison team are located in Scotland. I have given them 14 days (from today, 26th March) to repsond accordingly with my request for full amount refunded etc however if I needed to claim through moneyclaim I notice you cannot do so if the claim is in Scotland, how do I get round this?? Can anyone advise? Many thanks
  4. Hi I too watched the undercover journalist at Barclays Bank programme last night with my partner, who has a Barclays account and has done for 20 years since he left school. It was very worrying!! Only 3 months ago he noticed these Additions plus ac**** fees kept appearing on his bank statements. They had increased his overdraft limit without his consent and he received no benefit for paying £14 a month for this so called service! He rang them and told them he wanted t cancel and they told him it also provided car break down cover to which he explained he would never have consented to that as he has a company car?? We were miffed? Anyhow on closer investigation of his past bank statements a total of £336 had been taken over a given period of Additions plus fees. He is today going into his local bank to demand a refund. They had to cheek to raise the fee from £12 last year to £14 this year!!!! Its the closest they can get to theft and is disgusting that we can no longer trust these huge organisations with our hard earned money, complete shambles. They have clearly got so big that the "fat cats", CEO's have no idea whats going on under their noses, or they choose to ignore it either way... C:-x
  5. I have a Yorkshire Bank CC and have been dealing with Clydesdale Bank since attempting to reclaim £754 in excessive charges. I have hit a brick wall in that they have repayed me £301 of this back in the form of a cheque, which I have duly cashed, and wrote back accepting only as part payment on the understanding they will repay me back in full etc...... I heard nothing for over a month...(staff sickness I believe??) I called them and they immediately wrote back saying that as I cashed the cheque i was effectively accepting that as their full and final settlement of the matter....(of which of course I stated I wasn;t in my rejection of settlement offer received) Not sure how to proceed, as normally I would have started moneyclaim by now however the recent correspondance is from an address in Glasgow, Scotland and of course you can't claim o/s England and Wales? I have an address for Customer relations in Leeds, could I use this an address to get round that obstacle??? Can anyone advise I would be very greatful C
  6. Hi there, Thanks for your response, sorry for the delay in responding it was very encouraging, Yorkshire Bank only replied to my rejection letter on 15th Jan?? I accepted the cheque sent only as part payment on the basis they pay back in full etc etc...... Their response: Thank you for your advising that you have accepted the chq tendered by the bank as "payment to account" only and not as full and final settlement as indicated in the accompanying letter. I would advise that the Bank's position remains unchanged from that which was stated in our final response dated 15 Dec. I would therefore reiterate that encashment of the chq, which was tendered in full and final settlement of your claim against the Bank, will be taken as your acceptance of this. yrs sinc Neil McKirdy Cust Rel Mgr Two things, the last paragraph worries me?? Would I still be ok claiming this back legally? And secondly their letter comes from Glasgow (being part of Clydesdale Bank) and I cannot claim on line to Scotland only England and Wales? I've never claimed any other way....They have only paid me half of what they owe plus they have paid me know interest.. Your thoughts would be appreciated! Carol
  7. I have recently received a cheque from YBCC services for half the amount I am reclaiming. Do I pursue this and reclaim the remainder with them through moneyclaim? Please advise or if anyone has been in a similar situation I would be happy to hear from you thanks:confused:
  8. Hi, My partner has recently switched network provider on his mobile phone to O2 from Orange (as he can;t get a good signal at work and wants to switch to a pay as u go deal) and has had an ongoing battle to unlock his phone for over 2 months now and cannot get anywhere with them. The last issue was they e-mailed an unlocking code to him this morning after waiting for over a week for it and it didn't work??? Was told several weeks ago to go the Orange shop who then referred him to a dodgy bloke round the corner who unblocks phones!! Its all a mess and they want to charge him £20 to unlock the phone and he's obviously stressed with it all as he's still been paying huge bill's to them over the last 2 months or so whilst this has supposedly being sorted!! Any advice anyone as we want to send them a letter, their customer services is a joke, call themselves a communication company??? Carol
  9. Thank you - I knew that Halifax CC were playing on words and by making that statement in their letter some may not follow through?? Anyhow excuse my computer illiterace, however how do I make a new thread? Anyhow they made an offer in the end. MBNA however refunded £550 (full claim £1200) into my CC account I am continuing and claiming the full amount they have until 7th Nov and I will submit moneyclaim I followed my original request for full settlement with an LBA letter asking for the remainder to be paid . Found it strange that they just refunded part of my claim and now have not received any reply. They refunded the part payment when they forwarded my statements. It was from Steve Bailey. I think this one is going to be a moneyclaim thru the courts!! C
  10. I received letter of the same saying they would not be refunding (with statements) blah blah, however I then sent them LBA on 11th Oct and have heard nothing?? Have they settled with you since? I will submit moneyclaim on Friday (my day off) if so. c
  11. Hi I sent my LBA letter on 11th October by recorded delivery and have had no response thus far?? They did say in their letter with my statements that they were not refunding any charges, has anyone had any success with Halifax Credit card? C
  12. I have just received statements from Halifax Card Services and don't understand the letter that came with it? they say "In relation to the recent statement issued by OFT, Bank of Scotland has agreed to reduce their credit card fees to £12. This took effect from 1st August.. The fees you were charged were in line with the t & c's of your account abd in view of this we will not be refunding any charges applied." Does this mean they have relaised they were overcharging and therefore have reeduced their charge amount by £18 as of 1st August 2006, and that makes it all better forget the samll issue of fleecing me out of £480 over the past 3 years???????? Do I send LBA as normal, customized for Credit Card company...? Help would be appreciated Carol
  13. I have just received my statements from Halifax Visa saying: " In relation to the recent statment issued by the Office Of Fair Trading, Bank of Scotland has agreed to reduce their credit card fees to £12. This took effect as of 1st August. The fees you were charged were in line with the terms and conditions of your account and in view of this, we will not be refunding any charges applied. Up until 1st August, existing t & C applied...." Any advice? Should I still send LBA? I have just received full settlement from Halifax bank of £30,28.31. They have obviously realised their charges were too high and now reduced them, as like Goldfish, but I'm a little confused whether to proceed as usual or not.. Thanks Carol:idea:
  14. No, I haven't. They threatened me in one of their letters, if I can't manage my account, but they never did, in fact they paid out £3028.31 in FULL SETTLEMENT of bank charges dating back 4 years...result!! My advise to you if you are worried re bad credit history (although mines not brilliant) is to open a satellite bank account with another bank immediately or join up with your partner and create a joint account, so you have a back up account to transfer wages and your direct debits to etc. Keep smiling
  15. ME too!!! Congrats on your settlement. So far no-one has a chance of loosing as they cannot provide a breakdown of charges....what made me laugh they admitted it was commercially sensitive information!!! Halifax settled in full (29/09/06) after I submitted Moneyclaim. £3028.31 includes interest and court costs!!! They had the cheek to throw offers to me of £236 then later on £717??? It was like Deal or No Deal!! What a great feeling to win back that money that was taken. I'm off to the Gaucho Grill in Manchester City Centre to celebrate!! Yippeee x:cool:
