  1. who are the main credit reference agencies I would get my files from and how much is it to obtain your credit report. I don't want to subscribe to them or anything though. I know of Experian and Equifax, are there any more. thank you
  2. thanks again for the replies. much appreciated. I hope this one doesn't go pear shaped, plus it's my dad and his sister who are selling and want me to buy it so I'm hoping it goes smoothly.
  3. as an addition to this, I have read elsewhere on the forum that if a debt is not showing on my credit file then it would be a waste of money to offer full and final settlement to the creditor who is chasing the debt. is this correct. would any debts on my credit file not show up on a credit search as surely the debt still exists as I am paying towards it through my dmp. thank you
  4. thank you for the replies. I should have said that the price of the property I am purchasing is lower than the market value would be and has been accepted (mainly to keep it in the family as it has been for a number of years). everything else is sorted really other than my outstanding debts, which have to be cleared as a stipulation of porting my mortgage.
  5. hi. to cut a long story short, I have received an offer on my house and am looking to purchase my nan's house from the beneficiaries of her estate for a lesser value than the market value would be so I am getting a really good deal. my current mortgage company are willing to port my mortgage of £63K to this house on the proviso that all my debts are cleared. they are not bothered about full settlement, partial settlement, etc, they just want proof that they are all clear. I have debts of approx. £18K which is being dealt with on a dmp by step change. my aunt has offered to help out with a sum of £12K. I just have a couple of questions about this and hope someone can give me some advice. some of the debts do not show on my credit files but I don't really have time to send sar, cca, etc to them as the house sale and purchase could go through within 8 weeks. should I request full and final settlements only on the ones that show on my credit files or just contact them all to get settlement figures. some are with original creditors and some with dca's. also would I get full and final settlement figures on £18K of debt with £12K to bargain with. all this has happened so fast and I have not done this before, but it is a good chance for me to become debt free and move to a bigger and better house so I really need to clear these debts as that is what could potentially hold things up or worse, everything could fall through. any help would be appreciated.
  6. I am currently in a DMP and looking to tackle all my debts and try and get out of this mess. I keep seeing on the forum advice to request CCA from the DMC. Please could someone tell me what the next step would be after doing this. I am a bit confused what requesting this would achieve. I currently have an Aktiv Kapital debt for £5000.00, after adding £3200.00 interest to the original MBNA debt of £1800.00, which I am trying to sort out with them. I requested a copy of my credit file(s) but it does not show anywhere. Thank you.
  7. I have checked both Experian and Equifax and the debt does not show, many of my others show as default but I cannot find the one from MBNA/Aktiv Kapital
  8. i think there has been some confusion, I owe £22K in total to all creditors, not to Aktiv Kapital. I have just looked back on my paperwork and they originally took over the debt from MBNA with a balance of £1501.00. the current balance is £5070.00 after the interest they have added. what is the next step after requesting a CCA. sorry for all the questions but I am not in the know with regards to this.
  9. many thanks for your quick replies. can I just ask a question, as you may have gathered, I am not that clued up about debt collection. if I send a cca request to all the debt collection agencies and they cannot provide the original paperwork, What does this mean for me. with the help of a family member I was hoping to try and get full and final settlements on my debts. I currently owe £22k (which should be approx. £18k without the Aktiv Kapital interest). My aunt is willing to give me £8K to try and clear these debts but I don't know if that would be enough for them to settle, any ideas on this. thank you again.
  10. hi. many thanks for your replies. the debt has been with aktiv capital for about 3 years. if I recall, I was issued a default notice by mbna and informed it would be passed to a dca. I then incorporated this debt into the debt management plan with the others I have. they are the only ones adding interest. should I contact them and ask them to freeze it and refund the interest they have already added to the debt. I am unsure where to go with this.
  11. Hi everyone. This is my first post so I apologise if it is in the wrong place. I am currently in a DMP with Step Change. I had a MBNA credit card which went to Thames Credit and eventually to Aktiv Kapital. The debt now stands at approx. £5200.00. The original debt with MBNA was approx. £2300.00 before it was passed on. Aktiv Kapital keep adding interest to this debt on an annual basis so I end up paying less than the interest that is added so the debt keeps going up. Is there any way I can get them to freeze this and put the debt back to the original amount. They keep sending me letters offering a discount if I pay the debt in full. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
