  1. I definitely will and thankyou again. She is quite relieved that it isn't somebody being vindictive.
  2. Thankyou, that sounds brilliant! Can't believe how underhand they are!
  3. Ok, the letter is from Phillips & Cohen Associates on behalf of their clients Lowell. The only debt my friend can think of is possibly a catalogue years ago but it is over 6 years. The amount they want to retrieve from her so called estate is £209.
  4. I wasn't sure where to post this. I wonder if anybody can please advise me. Last year my husband took out a purchase lease hire financial agreement from Volkswagon commercial vehicles for a van for work. The van was from Lo cost vans. Its the type of agreement that you pay monthly to lease and then at the end there is a balloon payment that you owe them. Anyway, the van kept breaking down and he had to miss work for numerous days at a time. After a lot of arguing with Lo cost vans, they agreed to change the van. The original van was also a bit small for my husbands work needs, so he asked them for a bigger one that wasn't much more to pay each month. They agreed and it was all set up. (My husband admits he was a bit stupid and naive but its done now) The van arrived and the payments were quite a lot higher and we have been struggling. He phoned lo cost vans and they said the best thing to do was to get a settlement fee and sell the van to pay the finance. So he got the settlement and it is £22,000!!!! The van is only worth between £13,000 and £15,000 Again he spoke to Lo cost Vans and they said they had added a shortfall from the first van and he should deal with Volkswagon commercial in future. He's spoke to Volkswagon Commercial vehicles and asked if they will reduce the payments and take it over 6 years instead of 4. They have said no, he must pay the amount asked over 4 years and if he doesn't they will repossess. If they repossess, he can't work and won't get credit again but if he pays it, he's just working to pay the finance, diesel and insurance. Is there anybody with any suggestions please.
  5. Have I posted this in the right place or should it really be in the credit bit?
  6. Thankyou very much, I'll speak to her later and make sure she's got it out of the bin.

  8. Thankyou so much, I'll see if she can find out. She was really spooked yesterday as she's having quite a bad time at the minute and she'd convinced herself that someone must have told them she was dead in order to threaten her in some way. She was racking her brains thinking who it might be. I still can't believe they would sink this low.
  9. Thankyou, I can't believe they do this! She has threw the letter in the bin as she thought somebody was playing tricks on her but she doesn't know how they would know she had dealings with Lowell. She thinks the catalogue debt is from years ago. I've told her to get the letter out of the bin
  10. Hi, a friend of mine has had numerous letters and txt messages from Lowell for a while regarding an old catalogue bill. Yesterday, she received a letter from them which was addressed to her estate and saying that they were sorry to hear of her death and that they had trained people who would speak to the family with sensitivity, and to call to discuss probate! Has anybody else had anything like this, is this a tactic used by this company? It has definitely come from them but could somebody else have told them she's dead as a joke? Thanks
