  1. I thank everybody for their comments. It will certainly help me in taking the right action on the road in future. At present, I am talking about the CCTV footage that will determine if the exit was alreadyobstructed prior to my entering the box. In other words, what was the state oftraffic at the point of entering the box? Such a CCTV footage is not there.
  2. I thank everybody for their comments. I wish to present the following argument. The contravention is quite simply “entering a box junction when yourexit is not clear”. It is possible to stop within a yellow box (YBJ) withoutcommitting an offence. For example if at the time you entered the box the exitwas clear but then a lorry cut in front of you and stopped, forcing you to stopin the yellow box. In fact the independent adjudicator has upheld appealsagainst Tfl and other councils on this point. In one case transport for Londonsaid the vehicle was obstructing the box but because that is not part of thedefined contravention and they did not produce evidence of the vehicle actuallyentering the box when its exit was not clear the appeal against them wasupheld. To prove a contravention the enforcing authority must be able to showthat at the time that you entered the box the exit was blocked by stationarytraffic. In my case, I entered the YBJ when the exit was clear. As I approachedthe exit, the car in the front stopped suddenly forcing me to stop. Therefore,my stopping is justified. To prove that I entered the YBJ when exit was notclear, the council must be able to present CCTV footage and there is no suchfootage.
  3. I may be wrong but I disagree with Sailor Sam because I entered the box when there was a smooth running traffic in front of me indicating that I could clear the box. I couldn't anticipate that there would be a sudden traffic jam forcing me to stop in the box. What Sailor Sam is saying that I entered the box although I saw the exit was blocked. That is not possible considering that I am a careful. mature driver. So there are two versions of what happened. Only the CCTV showing my entry would establish the correct version but they don't have the CCTV of my entry.
  4. I have seen the video. Here is the link: http://sys.viewmypcn.co.uk/Upload/58b872db1e2dcba0e535b0ac92dfc4dbe2fe1ebf.MP4 The second video is relevant, not the first one. My car is the red Ford Ka. The video does not show my entering into the box junction. It only shows my stopping. I entered the box junction when it was clear to enter and I had to stop at the end of this box junction because the car in my front stopped suddenly. Please advise how to appeal. Many thanks.
  5. Today I received a nasty PCN by Waltham Forest Council for my alleged contravention 31. I don't deserve it because I was waiting before a red light with cars in front of me. There was a yellow box at the road junction. The light changed to green and cars in the front began to move and so did I. Just after a few seconds suddenly the car in the front stopped and I had to stop too to avoid collision. But I was on that yellow box. The reason of that sudden stopping was that one car ahead stopped to give way to pedestrians crossing and the other cars stopped too because of that and the ripple effect was upon me. I moved only after the car in my front moved. It was for a very brief period. But the stupid CCTV sent me a photo of my car on yellow box but it does not show the whole process of my moving into and stopping in the yellow box. Please help me how to appeal. Many thanks.
  6. To all contributers, Thank you all for your comments. I think I have little chance for a successful appeal. Any way, I will go for it though not expecting any miracles to happen. Just one more victim added to the millions of motorists convicted by the dreadful CCTVs which seem to work so well to issue PCNs.
  7. Thank you for your reply. However, the google map is old, taken in 2007 or 2008. The present CCTV photo sent by TfL is different. Moreover, you say that the bay may be wider and narrower depending on size of vehicles. But in my case there is no line of separation between these two bays and there is only one sign for the wider one and I parked in the narrower bay. Pl. see my attached photo (IMG_0002.jpg). Pl. give your comment.
  8. Thank you all for your replies. I have doubts about the markings. So I attach now two images - one is a screenshot of correct markings and another is a CCTV image sent by TfL of the actual markings. As seen from the second image, there are two boxes without any separating line between them. I will be grateful if the markings are correct.
  9. Thank you for your reply. I will surely post photo of the markings. In the meantime, the location is in Croydon : O/S 21 THORNTON ROAD CR7
  10. I’ve got a PCN by TfL for contravention: 46 : Stopped where prohibited (on a red route or clearway) recorded by CCTV at 4:10pm. It was a loading bay operational between 10am – 4pm. I think the loading bay markings are wrong because such bays should be always one rectangle outlined by dotted lines. In my case, the loading bay consists of two rectangles – one long one with another small one – without any separating line in between. I parked in the small one. There was only one parking restriction sign near the longer box. I’d be grateful if somebody can tell me if the loading bay markings are right or wrong. Many thanks
