  1. Just spotted this thread. I live in a converted property that is now 4 apartments and am flashed up as not showing on the electoral register with Equifax. I have confirmed however that my local authority sent this information in early December (Dec 3rd from memory) to the CRAs. My address on Equifax doesnt include the apartment number, just the property number - exactly as stated above!! I'll call them tomorrow, but am happy to pass details on if required
  2. Original debts were a loan and credit card via my bank at that time - so no, not Welcome Finance. Brigadier - i havent gone through the process of confirming that the debts are enforceable yet. I thought i'd ask here before making any sort of contact with MKDP LLP to be better aware of the process I go through with them. I wasnt aware that I could negotiate to have removal of all data from my Credit File - would that just be a written agreement that I could look to negotiate into the deal with MKDP then on the assumption that the debt is enforcable (which from what I have read they probably are)? I'll certainly make sure any agreement is down in black and white before paying a penny then - thanks for that.
  3. Hi I guess this may sound a bit basic for many on here but I am very confused about what my best course of action would be. I have been searching for over an hour but getting more confused by the minute. I have a couple of defaults registered on my credit file for a loan and credit card from when I was made redundant. The dates of default are in 2008 and early 2009 and so i believe would come off my credit file in 2014 and 2015 (so within 2 years give or take a couple of months). I have not heard from the Debt Collectors - MKDP for a number of years but have move addresses a few times. I have recently set up my own company and should very soon be in a much better financial position in order that I could afford to settle the debts (in full or part - i believe 60% is generally accepted?) - but will this really help me with regards to obtaining credit over the coming couple of years? So what would you do? Continue to bury your head in the sand and wait for the debts to fall off your credit file in 2015 / pay in full / make an offer of 60%?? Does a settled debt improve matters to the point it is worth contacting MKDP myself to make an offer?? Thanks for any advice - and correcting me if my understanding of the options is wrong.
  4. Thanks again both I should have made it clear that yes as above , my intentions were to call them simply to confirm they had received my 25% single persons discount this time (the reason i didnt pay the bill in the first place as they kept denying they received the application and continually took the full payment), and to obtain an email address for further correspondence to put my intention to pay in writing - cant imagine a phone call stating my intention to pay would stand up to much scrutiny if this ended up back in court. I definitely wont be talking to the bailiffs now dx - thanks for that advice. She rings off a mobile so i know the number. I'll try the automated payment line again shortly and also sort my online banking out Cheers
  5. Thanks to you both - put my mind at rest A LOT there. I'll ring the council tomorrow - i need to anyway as i have had to send my 3rd application for the single persons 25% discount to date - "signed for" this time!! All doors and windows are now locked anyway. Many thanks again
  6. Hi Apologies for the newbie post but i've never been in this situation and really need some help I have received a letter from Jacobs Certificated Bailiffs saying they are in possession of a Liability order issued by the Magistrates Court to seize goods. I spoke to a bailiff and she told me that she wanted either payment in full or for me to sign a Walking Possession and she'd agree payment over 6 months with an immediate £50 to pay. I simply dont have the funds to pay in full and while i know i do need to pay the bill, would rather not have a bailiff in my house. I therefore offered to pay the balance over 6 months via standing order on my monthly pay day. She refused this saying i had to agree to the Walking Possession to get them to agree to the installments. I was away from home with work for a couple of days so couldnt sign anything now i come home to find a 2nd hand delivered letter saying if i dont pay in full that Enforcement Bailiffs will removed goods Surely they cant do this having never gained peaceful entry? Is there not a daily charge for a Walking Possession that they should disclose?? Any advice how best to handle this? I've asked the council about settling over 6 months and they agreed if Jacobs Bailiffs return the account to them. They refused to do this - clearly want to pile up their fees!! Thanks
