Thanks again Dx, in fact I had no idea about PPI.s I believed that I had to have PPI.s to get CC, s or loans because I was S/E, I know nothing about finance at all, I just try and pay the bills. I only know about electrics! Sorry more questions!=Do G.E have PPI? Also Nationwide? It is not obvious on the statements. Is Vodaphone Cover-me insurance a PPI? - yes When did firms start charging PPI.s? Arcadia store card. Family Accident plus plan, - yes Is this the same as PPI? Nationwide Personal accident insurance, is this PPI? - yes Regards Ro seems like you need to get reclaiming : http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/technical_notes/ppi.html dx

I also have realised that some of these cc. accounts and PPI charges, etc go back much further than i thought before 2002, Can i reclaim back that far? or is the 6 year cut off i have seen mentioned an absolute limit? Thanks Ro
-
Thanks again Dx, looks like its only you and me on this one! sorry about that. i have found another cc, from the woolwich, Open plan with the Death or accident cover on, Taken over by Barclaycard. 2002 so another to add to the SAR list! Ro

If i SAR MBNA will they include information about the Abbey account they took over? And likewise information about the Virgin account that MBNA took over. i don't trust them, they are not reputable businesses.can they ignore the accounts prior to the ones i have with them now? Also what year did these PPI charges generally start, plus if i SAR these firms, should i still continue my Token payments? many thanks Ro

G E Money and Secret Commissions

Link Still will not work for me, sorry, -
Hi All. Thank goodness for this forum and the help and support available here, slow and steady, because this is the only way I can cope with all this, (under Doc for stress problems etc.) I have the following creditors. GE money Have a claim on the property!!!!! Almost certainly, Secret commission! ABBEY MORTGAGE. No missed payments. We are making monthly token payment to all the following, ABBEY Now pay to MBNA.VIRGIN Now pay to MBNA.BARCLAYS.CAPITAL ONE. I am trying to get my head round the best way to proceed, f irst of all I note that GE occasionally send a statement of any late payments, with charges added! (Threatening to charge another £40 per month for administration fees! if i miss a payment) arrears around 300. Would it be a good idea to try and pay this amount separately? From reading other posts, It appears they try to build a case based on these late payments, to maybe use against me in some way should I have more problems in future. Also I am worried that if I upset them they will demand all the money from loan back! It is for this reason I have not contacted them as yet. Also I note that GE are mentioned in the list of lenders which will offer reduced payment for 2 years under a government scheme, however I would avoid GE.at all costs! And seek help with reduced payment from Abbey SANTANDER if they offer the same reduced payment scheme. This would help to have more funds to keep us going to keep on top of things. With the help of CCCS, I am paying token payments to all the other C.C s and ignoring all calls from them. This will at least give us time to get organised with each creditor,I am a bit fragile just now, waiting for treatment for stress. Etc. So can only do things one at a time. Step by step. I guess my questions are as follows, should I check my own credit reference? And should I SAR all the CC,s as a matter of course? Or wait till they send a DN? I know we have paid PPI payments in the past. Which has contributed to our present problems. I am wondering if I am being premature as no one has got nasty yet, except Barclays threatening text. But I would like to get ahead of all this. To minimise any future panic. I have approx 1 years worth of statements for Barclays, cc. Cap 1, Abbey (taken over by Mbna.) Virgin now mbna. Most statements from around 2002, Being S/E All have PPI (some over 40 per month.) or Death/accident cover. (same thing I gather) Plus penalty late payment fees and interest. This adds up to a lot of money, (which had I not been of these amounts we would not be in the position we are now) And they are still demanding money from us! As I said I have statements for each, but not all, I know some of these go back before 2002, my first question is, Is the only way to make progress to get the original agreements Start dates etc. By using a SAR Template letter. I would be grateful for any advice please, Apologies if messy. (limited concentration) Thanks for reading. Regards Ro

Hi, clairedcat, i have repaired machines for many years, if you are talking about the waste hose (usually grey) coming out of the back of the machine, are you? if it is this hose, there is no way a bra wire will reach that hose because it would jam the waste pump first and cannot pass the pump.regards Ro

Accident & Death cover/advice please,
ro284 replied to ro284's topic in Debt management and Debt self-help
Thanks again Dx, apologies in advance for any dumb or strange questions. in the early hours searching through documents, i found a 2002 complete year of statements for Cap 1inc PPI payments and interest payments also! i am also hoping to find the same for Virgin! is Virgin mbna or the other way round? which would be responsible for this account? on finding all these things and finding Cag, and realising why we got in the mess we are in! obviously you cannot trust any of these businesses, what i would like to know, is after the way all these firms have ripped people off, (causing dreadfull knock on effects) mental illness, worry. homes lost, etc.) would you say these sharks are guilty of criminal behaviour, or fraud? If so, does this imply i have been complicit by paying the monies they demand? or a victim? in any other business they would surely be closed down by the courts for thier behaviour. in my position now, after terrible complications and distress that have been caused to me and my family.(S/E) i feel in a position to fight back, wheras i had accepted that i had no control and on the point of giving up! thanks to Cag and the so helpfull people on here i will fight back, these ripp off merchants will dictate to me no longer! i am getting organised with all my statments and facts etc and will start a new thread when ready, regards Ro -

ro284 replied to ro284's topic in Debt management and Debt self-help
Many thanks Dx,i have a feeling that these two accounts may go back to 2005 or before. how many years can i go back? i also have other accounts i am in the process of checking! This could be a lot of money that we had lost. which put us in the position we are in now! terrified of the postman! any one regognise coverplan please, or know how to find out what they are doing taking my money, and finally for now, who would now be responsible for the ABBY acccount taken ovrer by MBNA? thanks Ro -
Good wishes all, i an starting to go through old accounts 2006, i have a Barclays one which states Accident Death cover-- £8-59.( not every month,) Is this classed as PPI? please. also Coverplan, Hemel hempstead, twice on all statements that i have found so far, but do not know what these payments are for, can anyone help with this please? Also i have found my wifes Abbey account with many Payment protection Cover amounts varying from £10 to £41. i believe these are repayable! However i gather MBNA took over or the account was transferred to them at some stage after 2006, is there a chance i could claim back this money? is so who from? ABBEY or MBNA? there are some high interest charges also! regards Ro

Sadly no reply to this, so will write some more as it makes me feel better to write it down. so i will add that GE money has threatened to charge us £40 per month for administration fees, Apparently if we are late with a payment again!i copied this from another post and wondered if it may be of any help,--Malicious Communications Act 1988. This deals with the sending of letters or articles for the purpose of causing 'distress or anxiety'. A person found guilty can be fined in the magistrate’s court. To prosecute successfully the letter or article sent would have to convey: 1. a message which is indecent or grossly offensive; 2. a threat; or 3. information which is false and known or believed to be false by the sender. Would the above threat of extra charges constitute a threat under the above act? can they in fact make such a charge?or is this false? to cause distress? Please advise, regards Ro

Apologies if I have missed a link or post on these subjects, but some basic info I would be very grateful for, regards the year date 2007 apparently I gather this is a significant date regarding loan agreements prior to and following this date year, does this apply to credit cards? Also being S/e for many years, and the very sporadic income from this, has led to missing payments, of course leading to penalty fees! Being imposed ferociously at any opportunity! Exacerbating the problem! Is there any way of getting these fees paid back, if so would this be best achieved at the same time as claiming PPI ‘s? if this is possible? Regards Ro

G E Money and Secret Commissions
ro284 replied to frustrated46's topic in Mortgages and Secured Loans
Not anything significant to add to this very usefull Thread, except my good wishes to all who take them on! If there is anything guaranteed to affect my mental state, it,s G E Money! I truly wish there was a way to go elsewhere, but that is impossible now, I am sure there was a secret commission, to my broker. But all that is a mystery to me in my present state. The latest letter from them is that they will in future charge a monthly £40 administration fee. if I am late with my next payment! What they appear to do is add up all the missed payment ‘fines’ and add that to the interest, but state that these are arrears on the account! mine are now £271.75. However I note that GE money is on the list of lenders who may reduce interest for 2 years under the government scheme, but I would have no confidence using them for anything.regards Ro -
Creditors still taking interest!
ro284 replied to ro284's topic in Debt management and Debt self-help
Payment options! i am paranoid about missing token payments to my creditors, so i send each token payment by recorded 1st class, of course the result is i am paying £7.50 postage for 6 letters! is there another equaly reliable way please?Ro -
I also have been caught out by this trap! They up the limit and send a text message that i have an extra few thousand to spend! i was already in debt, so used some of it to meet the more pressing debts! They do not ask if you want it! they do no credit check, or any check on avaliable income to repay it! i am 68 and retired, no income. and many debts already! i guess i must be stupid to have used any extra money i never asked for, but was offered, but i do think it is irresponsible lending.regards Ro
