  2. Hi, its a Vauxhall Zafira 58 plate and I have had it since the 30th December 2011 Cheers Scott
  3. Hey Caggers, I am after some advise ref a vehicle that we purchased from ACF Car Finance in December 2011. Since we have had the car there appears to have been an lot of things that have actually gone wrong with the car ranging from a new clutch, new gear box, new suspension, new central locking, failed coil pack, misfiring cylinders and knackered suspension to list the ones that come to mind as I write this post. Since we had had the car, we have followed the recommended service arrangement and had a full service every 12 months and really have looked after the car. With having so many issues, one of the garages we went to for repairs did comment on faults of this nature being common with a vehicle that has been neglected and asked if we were sure of the cars service history before we actually purchased it. When we looking at the service book it was pretty clean that the stamps for various services were actually made up, the same pen, same handwriting etc. and none of the boxes were tickets. We have even spoken to Vauxhall to verify the service history and they have said that there is not record of any 2 of the 3 services on the book which were apparently completed at a Vauxhall dealer. We raised this with ACF who said that it was not their policy to check the service history of cars they purchased as they carry out their own check to ensure that vehicles are fit for purpose. Now, what's brought the need to create this post on is that we have just been on the receiving end of a major gearbox and clutch failure on the car, a repair that is set to cost me £1622 to fix a car that is worth just over £2200. We still have 2 years left on the finance however the garage has informed us that they don't believe the vehicle will last the full duration of the finance due to the level of faults we are experiencing. Do I have any ground to ask for the finance to be suspected or the vehicle to be returned to ACF ? the cost of the current repair is approx 70% of the car current value and I fear the next big issue will be pretty much game over. The issue of the fictional service history must have some weight ? Is there anything that can be done to help me get out from in-between this rock & hard place? Thanks Scott
  4. thanks - I was not sure how this would apply to motor repairs and its genuinely the labour which costs the money rather than the actually part purchased? Appreciate that the money I paid was including the labour.
  5. Hi, I have a new clutch put on my Vauxhall back in November at an independent garage in Rugby. The service was really not the best however it was the best price around. months have passed as the clutch is not feeling right again - its very floppy like its about to fail. Do I have any guarantee for the repair or do I just have to pay again? Thanks Scott
  6. Hi Caggers, I have heard so much about this forum that I thought it was high time that I registered. Hope that someone can help me out with my problem with Apple. Due to the media hype about the signal problems on the iPhone4, Apple sent all users who report the problem a free bumper which is a little rubber jacket that goes over the outside of the phone and stops you cutting off calls if you hold the phone is a particular way. My bumper was being used for just over 1 month until I decided to put a screen protector on the phone so I needed to remove it first before I would apply the protected. Once the bumper was moved I say that there was lots of "rub" marks all over the metal band on the iPhone and these were caused by the bumper. There was nothing stuck between the phone and the bumper that could have caused this so I reported the phone to Apple via their "contactus" button on the website and so that I was not happy about this and wanted the phone exchanged. One of their representatives come back to me after 3 days saying that he was sorry for the problem and that Apple were aware that the black bumper could in-fact mark the phones....I was then instructed to call the Applecare line who would sort my problem out. After calling though to them on and offer of the next 48 hours, I managed to get though to an agent who was based in the US. This person said that she was sorry again for the phone, was aware that of the problem and said that there was nothing that Apple could do as the bumpers were provided as a gift and I was my choice to use them or not. I was not happy with this response so I asked what else could be done and I was politely so that my feedback would be used to enhance future product development however there was no solution from Apple even that they had admitted that they knew about the damage on both email and verbally. Phew - my question is what are my rights and do they change as Apple is based in the US and everything that say seems to follow US law not international law. Surely if they admit that they knew it caused damage then they should be responsible for replacing the phone ? Can I get some views on this please? Thanks
