  1. fekking barstewards! Did they give you any notice of the cancellation of your overdraft facility? Have they charged you for being over the agreed overdraft limit?
  2. I have sent my claim to my branch, and that's where I sent my initial request for a list of all fees that they had charged me. My branch (Newington Branch, Edinburgh) dealt with the request very quickly, or they quickly passed it on to the right person. What was the letter you sent? Was it a request for a list of charges, or a demand for the repayment of them? If it was the request for a list, did you use the template that is in the FAQs section? It has all the right terms in it and has "data protection act" in big letters at the top, so they know they have to listen. Incidentally, they didn't send a list of charges, they sent a copy of every single bank statement, right back to 1997, so I am chancing my arm and requesting that charges from way back then are repaid too.
  3. Letter printed at the library today, but the post office was closed by the time I left, so it will be going recorded delivery tomorrow morning. In case anyone wants it, the address that I sent it to was MINT Customer services Centre PO BOX 6050 Southend-on-sea SS99 1WL
  4. PLA hand delivered to my branch this morning... fingers crossed...

    Fizdup Vs Cahoot

Cheers Chimera, I see that your claim against cahoot seems to be going to plan, well done (and fingers crossed for you!)
  6. I am sending mine tomorrow, did you hear anything back?
  7. A friend of mine had her identity stolen and someone used it to take out a mobile phone contract from the shop Phones4u with the network 02. My friend started recieving bills. When she called to explain that she didn't have the phone in question, they wouldn't let her talk about the account because she couldn't answer the security questions that someone else had set up, thus the whole thing went on and on. They were demanding money and she was refusing to pay for a phone she didn't have or use. This has effected (affected? 10 points to the person who explains the difference to me) her credit rating. She got a copy of it from Experian and on various creditcards she is seen as a poerfect borrower who never misses a payment, but phones4u have put a notice on it saying that she is rubbish. Oh, and when she talks to phones4U they say speak to o2. When she speaks to O2 they say, sepak to phones4u. This means that she cannot transfer the balance on her credit cards to take advantage of 0% balance transfers. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this mess?

    Abby Vs Cahoot

If this is true, then why have cahoot just sent me a message to say that they are reducing their charges from £30 to £12? Seems to me they have realised that their charges are neither "reasonable or proportionate"
  9. I asked, through their secure message thingy on the website, for a list of all charges that they had made against me on my credit card and current account. I recieved a letter in the post with all the charges, and what they were for. They didn't send me a list of all the transactions that I have made. They did it pretty quick too, i think I got the letter within 5 days. Maybe you could ask for the same sort of thing?

    Fizdup Vs Cahoot

I have recieved my list of charges for my current account and credit card. The total amount is: Current account - 14 times £30 (unauthorised o/d charge) = £420 Credit card 8 times £25 (charge for late payment) = £200 Now I need to decide if I make a claim for both of these at the same time, or separately. If they were both bank account charges (or if they were both credit card charges) I would be happy to request a refund for both using either this (for bank accounts) or this (for credit cards). Can I request refunds using the first of those two letters and putting the creditcard number in in place of an account number?

you know, I would have thought that a bank that did most of their work through the lovely internet would have been able to use a wordprocessor. How many £30 charges equals a copy of WORD? Barstewards, the lot of them
  13. I recieved the following message from cahoot, through the secure message doodah on their website: "Information about your cahoot credit card fees and charges We have reduced the fees relating to your cahoot credit card. The fee for exceeding your credit limit has now been reduced from GBP 25 to GB 12. The fee for making a late payment has now been reduced from GBP 25 to GBP 12. If you have any queries please get in touch through 'contact us' above. An email has been sent to "my emailaddress" detailing the changes. If you did not receive a copy of this email, please email us through 'contact us' and also check that your contact details are up to date in 'change my details'." It would seem that somebody in cahoot has noticed that the fees they were charging are illegal and they have reduced them!
  14. Just wanted to pass on my support too, RIN. Keep going!

Cheers for the info about the email address, that'll come in handy, Out of interest, did you just write them a plain text email or did you attach a word file?
  16. As far as I am aware (though I have no legal training whatsoever) you don't have to let anyone into your house unless they have a court order saying that they are allowed in. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
  17. I have added up all the charges made against me and the total comes to £708, though only £128 of those charges were made within the 5 year limit. Following the "step-by-step instructions" FAQ I have not requested any interest on top of the charges. I have decided to go ahead and ask for the whole amount, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
  18. cheers, JMio and HadEnough, I will check out that FAQ.
  19. That sounds like sensible advice, thanks, I will write a letter. Does anyone know the correct address to send such an enquirey to regarding MINT accounts?
  20. I have telephoned MINT to ask for written confirmation of all charges levied against me by them on my MINT mastercard. I have been told that the request has been passed on to the relevant department and I will recieve the information in 7 - 10 working days. Has anyone else attempted getting theinformation from MINT by phone? Did they actually send it or was there a fobbing off letter sent first? (have I put this thread in the correct forum? MINT is owned by the Bank of Scotland, and I couldn't see where else to put it. If I should move it, please tell me where and it'll diappear in a puff of cyber-smoke)

I have used the "contact us" bit of the cahoot website to request a list of all the charges that Cahoot have levied against me over the past 5 years. I recieved the following email: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Mr. Byrne, Thank you for contacting cahoot in Coventry. You will receive a list of charges in the post shortly in the post, as requested. Raj Dosanjh, cahoot Who would you rather be in cahoots with? TRACKING NUMBER: A00002444293-00007287081 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Has anyone else recieved such an email and is it true? Have they actually sent the information?
  22. I have a Bank of Scotland Easycash account, and the card that came with it started off as a Solo card and then when they were phased out I was issued with an Electron Card...I did open the account some years ago, so maybe things have changed
  23. I have requested a list of all the charges that have been levied against me by the BoS-tards (someone elses joke that, but I like it!) So far I have recivieved copies of all my bank statments back to 2004 when the Halifax took over the BoS and the others are on their way, apparently. I would like to claim back charges made on my account from 1997, but I believe that the law only allows me to claim back to 2001. Has anyone successfully claimed back charges from more than 5 years ago? Is there an argument that the Banks have refused to reveal what the breakdown of the charges is and therefore have been decieving us all along, or is that just wishful thinking?
  24. I too am starting down the route of reclaiming charges from the BoS. I asked them for copies of all my bank statments right the way back to 1997, when I opened the account. Funny thig is they were able to send the ones from 2004 up to the present straight away, and I have to wait for the earlier ones. I phoned up to ask why this was and I was told that it's becausewhen the Halifax took over everything was put onto easy to use computers. Earlier statements have to be extracted from a warehouse, apparently. I wonder why you got yours the onther way around - older ones first?
  25. Hi everybody, I have been banking with the Bank of Scotland since I started University, 9 years ago (nine years ago! that means i'm getting old...) In my student days I wasn't too careful with my money and so I got penalised by the banks. Has anyone had any luck claiming back charges from more than 5 years ago in Scotland? I'd like to hear about it. And thanks in advance for all your help. Fiz.
