  1. Hi TBD, I havent got the PCN with me (my father has itr and I'm stuck at work). Here is the link for the google: http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=54.548201,-3.58864&spn=0.002116,0.004823&z=18&layer=c&cbll=54.548253,-3.588756&panoid=gV0hpSqo1IbHDOD8XSa8Vg&cbp=12,271.67,,0,23.72 (my dad was parked basically where the red fiesta is) Thanks for your input so far
  2. Hi, My father has a bus business and has just recieved a parking ticket from our local council (Copeland). My father was parked in the main street of our local town where there is a sign to say BUSES ONLY and there are no yellow lines (also there is a sign at the start of th road saying loading only). He quickly went to the bank to pay some money in and on his return the local traffic warden was booking the vehicle. My father has appealed against the ticket and the reponse he got today was: "The vehicle (reg mark) was parked in a bus bay on Lowther Street. A bus means a motorvehicle constructed or adapted to carry more than 8 passengers and for this reason your vehicle is not classed as a bus. The penalty charge has been issued correctly". My father was in his private hire Citroen Berlingo so I can see their reason about the bus comment but would there be anyway around this? The traffic warden has been hunting my fathers buses down recently due to a private matter (jealousy on the traffic wardens behalf) but I doubt we could prove that. Any help would be great. Thanks, Sploits
  3. Best way al27, educate the world about these scamsters and their dodgy setups Its free in our local Morrisons but we still have a Euro Car Parks guy wandering around ticketing people. Just like you I try my best to educate everyone who has received a ticket
  4. To hold my hand up I no longer pay for APCOA parking within my local town (shoot me down if you want). I dont park often in my local town but when I do I park without paying within an APCOA carpark because of the harrassment and lies they gave me when they ticketed me for parking on a piece of private land that had NO terms and conditions and no P&D machines (although they do have an additional 4 or 5 P&D carparks). I always paid the £1 they wanted for an hour but when they hit me with a crazy charge and lied to me when I asked them to stop writing it out while I had been to work to drop my DJ gear off then sod them. Maybe it is morally wrong not to pay while I park on a carpark that they own / run / look after but like I said the way they treated me was disgusting and seriously p*ssed me off (my thread can be located here http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?151005-CPN-From-APCOA) Yes I have recieved a few unenforcable fines from parking and not having a ticket but after the rubbish I get from Roxburghe and Graham White it all goes away. Like I said shoot me down if you want Any other carparks that are P&D I pay the going hourly rate with no problems.
  5. I still would be reluctant to hand over my cash to these crooks in the offchance I was never going to see it again but I suppose this is the more moral route to go down.
  6. I don't blame you, just thought I would ask How successful is this method? From reading posts on the CAG forum it seems to be that most clampers love collecting CCJ's I think this would probably be the best route. Admit nothing, dispose of the evidence and get on with life or find a way to remove the clamp without damaging it (if at all possible). Thanks for your input Bernie
  7. Hi Bernie, What should he have done then? Should he have taken the clamp and all evidence and popped it in a skip somewhere (where they wouldn't find it)? She he have just paid the fine (which I didnt think he would have to do as it was private land). I just want to get my head round it so I have a better understanding (just incase it happens to me or anybody out there who is a little bit sketchy on private clamping) Thanks
  8. Have a read and let me know what you think. I thought you could cut the lock on a clamp if it was on private land. He left the clamp but does this mean he maybe should have taken it with him and disposed of it without anybody knowing? Thoughts please http://www.cumberlandnews.co.uk/news/judge-s-sympathy-for-carlisle-man-who-cut-wheel-clamp-from-van-1.743247?referrerPath=news
  9. Hi, Back in January I booked a flight to Turkey for me and my partner. I booked direct with thomson online and paid extra for the good flight times. We are due to go out on the 12/07/10 the flight out would be 8:00am from Manchester. The flight back would be 19/07/10 3:00pm coming home from Dalaman. Today Thomson email me and tell me my flight times have changed. Now we don't leave until 6:10pm 12/07/10 and come back 01:45am from Dalaman. I paid a lot of money for these flights only to be fobbed off to a night flight. If I wanted them flights I would have booked them and saved myself around £200. Is there anything I can do?? I am going to await a reply and then phone them to play merry hell as its spoilt our holiday
  10. I could try that. No doubt he would shrug his shoulders and say he thought he told me. Never mind its my stupid fault for signing it without reading it fully. It wont happen again and I wont be getting a car from him in the future. thanks for all your help Mossycat
  11. Cheers for that Mossycat. I will just give him a slapping next time I see him
  12. Hi, I recently traded my old car in for another car and the difference was made up by a hire purchase agreement with Black Horse. I bought the car from my local Arnold Clark (which I bought my old car also). I bought it from a lad that I actually know. He told me the APR was going to be about 12% which I was happy and then told me I would be making 15 payments of £128.69 which I washappy with. I signed the paperwork and then picked up my car a few days later. I have been paying £128.69 since March this year which I have no problem paying. I was sorting out my paperwork last night and found my copy of the agreement and noticed that the APR states its at 40.5%. This wasn't what I agreed to. Also there is a lump sum payment of £426.69 to pay at the end of the hire purchase period. I know I should have checked the paperwork fully but the guy is supposed to be a friend so I didnt think I would be getting fiddled on it. Is there anything I can do or should I just carry on with it? It isnt going to kill me paying everything they want I just feel a bit cheated as it wasnt what I agreed to This is my copy of the agreement: Any help would be great P.S. If the images are too big I will edit and add links to the agreement
  13. Thank you Scott and Lee. She is currently at work but I will get her account details, get the reference number and post it on here. Thank you both kindly for your input so far. Sploits
  14. Good morning, My mother is currently (but not for much longer) a pay monthly customer of Vodafone. With her contract running out she phoned customer services to discuss her options. She doesnt use alot of minutes, hardly any texts and has no interest in the newest handsets so the guy on the phone recommended a £10 a month sim only deal. She was quite happy with that and agreed to the deal. The guy told her that he would send her out a new sim card with a new number and that her original simcard would still work for the next 30 days until it was cut off. She then got what she thought was her final bill and she stopped using the original sim and went on to the £10 a month sim. the following month she recieves 2 bills. 1 for the original contract and 1 for the sim only contract. She has now complaint to Vodafone who have told her that she got the £10 sim only deal as a SECOND contract. She has told them she never and she has been misadvised by the original guy a few months earlier. Vodafone then tell her she will face a termination fee of £76.00 if she cancels the original contract now but also informed her that she could of finished her contract back in December. Vodafone then informed her that they will have to listen to the previous phonecall to see if she has been misinformed or not. My mother is furious with how she has been treated by Vodafone and just wants them to take a hike. Does anybody have any advice on how to deal with this? My mother does not now want to be paying for 2 contracts (she doesnt want to be paying anything to Vodafone now). All help is greatly appreciated Sploits
  15. Certainly machinist http://www.consumerforums.com/resources/templates-library/86-debt-collectors/581-cca-request-letter send a £1.00 postal order (NOT A CHEQUE) and make sure you send it recorded delivery. That way you have a paper trail and they can't deny ever recieving it from you.
  16. Morning machinist. On the credit cards and littlewoods account have you asked for the CCA's (credit agreements)? No CCA then no enforcable debt. Its good to see that you aren't scared anymore. I was the same as yourself. Scared sh*tless because a DCA was hounding me for money. After doing some research I too ended up on this forum and it has been a god send to me. With Vodafone I think you could ask for a statement of account. That would give you your supposed charges and then you can look into disputing it. Also good luck in your job interview Sploits
  17. Hi mariefab, thats exactly what I thought. My friend is coming to see me today so will find out more news (if any). I am trying my best to make her stand firm and not take the part time role but I think she may crack as the pressure is obviously getting to her. Her employers are basically being @rseholes
  18. Hi, Just a quick update to the situation (albiet it not a good one). My friend has said she is not going to accept the part time role. Her employer has now said that if she does not accept the part time role they will have no choice but to sack her work collegue. She now feels even worse because she feels if she doesn't accept the part time offer she will be putting her co-worker out of a job. The thing that doesn't really swing it for me though is that soon she will be on maternity leave and IF they have paid off the co-worker there will be NO-ONE to do the job. She works on a nuclear site and it takes weeks to get the clearance to work there. If the co-worker goes then unless they start interviewing now they wouldn't be able to get anybody in time to cover the maternity leave. Also my friend ended up in hospital with all the stress she is going through at the moment with it. Not good for her or baby
  19. mariefab, yeah she just wants her full time job back. She has been on to her boss and told her that she is not happy. The boss has called her in today so I'm now just waiting to find out the outcome and if need be I will be straight back on here seeking people's wonderful advice
  20. Thank you for that Uncertain, will tell her to contact ACAS. R&J no she wasn't given the choice she was basically told she was going part time. And yet they didnt reduce the other womans hours at all. Also the company know that she is pregnant. The company have recently paid off 13 blue collar workers on the basis of last in first out. Her collegue may hold more skills due to her age and time in employment with previous employers. But she was brought in to take some of the work load off my friend. Thank you all for your replies so far
  21. Hi, This is for a friend so hopefully I have the full story and its correct. A woman I know works for a firm and has done for the past 3 years. 10 months ago another woman was brought in to help with the work load. On paper they women both do different jobs but if one of them is on leave/sick they can easily cover each others roles. Recently the work load has declined and things have got quiet (quite possibly a blip). The lass I know was taken into the office and was told that as of next week she was to be going part time. The other lass was not told this and is staying full time. Can they do this? She is also 17 weeks pregnant if that has any significance on the matter. Thank you kindly in advanced
  22. And end up becoming a menace or danger on the road??? I dont think so
  23. Hhhhhmmmmm yeah and have somebody doing 20MPH in a 40. Good reasoning there. Looks like we won't agree on anything. Well lets agree to disagree
  24. For the likes of a radar gun or mobile camera, does these not have to calibrated? If not calibrated correctly would this not give inaccurate readings? Also to what Bernie_The_Bolt said. Our town has been slated by the local press due to the amount of road signs there are on the roads. One road that runs for around 50 meters has something stupid like 15 road signs on. Gathering the information from the signs and trying to watch what else is going on, your speed etc I honestly do think is a huge distraction. Especially if new to the area.
  25. David has already proven that cameras can be wrong (as per post #31).
