That is strange that is exactly what happened to me my M& S debt is now with Sigma Red and in the same format a letter from M&S and Sigma but in the wrong name. Sent is back return to sender stating no one of that name lives at this address. I have had a letter back apologizing for the error but still want the money.

Hi Slayer thanks for you reply, I sent a cheque on the 18/03/08 which I photocopied I have no receipt but I didn't send it recorded or anything as I work out in the sticks and by the time I get home the post office is closed so I just sent it with the works post, but it was over the Easter break.

I have received a parking ticket from Excel Parking advising me I had a £60 fine and if I didn't pay within a certain time I would have to pay £100. I paid the £60 within the time limit, but they are now chasing me for the £40 because they said it wasn't received on time. Can I refuse to pay this or as I have paid the £60 have I agreed to their terms?

Hello I need a little help please, Revenue Collections Service are cashing me for a debt for a gym membership I had. I cancelled this membership in March 2008 with a letter and cheque to cover my last month. (although checking my bank statement I can’t see this cheque going through). There was also an agreement with the Gym as they had had a fire in the swimming pool area That I didn’t have to pay until the gym was completely ready for use it should have been ready for use by the first of December but wasn’t so in my letter I stated that, as it was not ready that there would not be a payment for this month. I paid for January and February 2008 sent my cancellation letter at the end of March. I received nothing from the gym but got a telephone call from this agency chasing a debt of £150 + I didn’t know what for so told them to put it in writing to which they said it would cost me another £22 for a letter I told them I wasn’t prepared to pay for anything without knowing what is was about. I admit I probably do owe them £37.50 but no more, what can I do? Do I ask them for my contract to prove the debt is my contract still valid if it was for only twelve months and this is three years later? PS I love this site I think you are all wonderful with great advice

I have today received my money from the Natwest bank via The Royal Bank of Scotland Litigation department. The strange thing is I received a letter from Mr H offering me £152.00 which I was going to write back and reject (of course) but today I received a cheque for my full claim plus court costs and interest £420.93 in total with a letter more or less stating is was not worth them defending my claim (I had also received a note from the court that the solicitors were going to defend). The only slight problem I have with this cheque is after my name it gives the bank account no. but this is not the account no. the claim was against but I do want to make a claim against this account as I have just received my statements for the last six years – should I write to them thank them for the cheque but let them know they have to wrong account, or should I leave it, as there is no form to sign to say I agree this as a full and final settlement.? Once the cheque has cleared I will make my donation although I haven’t posted much I read the threads carefully and all the advise, taken it on board and at my lowest the positive vibes from everybody kept me going. In my very humble opinion I think you are all wonderful and for anybody still waiting for their money keep the faith because you will get it. Can this be marked as WON? Thank you Gerry xxxxxx
