  1. What are their specific addresses or do they all have a local office?
  2. I agree with ODC. I sent a CCA request to 1st Credit over 3 years ago, to which they have never provided one, but still continue to send periodic letters and threats from their associated companies! I am seriously considering reporting them to OFT, Trading Standards and FOS. If they carry out a credit/address search on Equifax or Experian, is this illegal?
  3. I've received various letters and threats over the last 3 years from 1st Credit (and associates such as Connaught, Macenzie Hall, Meritforce), despite the fact that I requested a CCA 3 years ago. They still send periodic letters etc, most recently an 'authorised doorstep collector will visit' letter. Nothing has ever happened so far, they are just wasting their own time. However, I would like to see the letters stopped, what can I do?
  4. I have sent CCA requests to 1st Credit going back to 2005! They never sent an agreement but STILL send demanding letters, CCJ threats, doorstep collections etc! What can we do to stop these people writing harrassment letters, when there is no acknowledged debt??
  5. thank you for the letter template Godmother. I've received threats and harrassment from 1st Credit, Connaught, Mackenzie Hall and now Meritforce for the last 3 years, despite sending the original CCA request back in 2005! They acknowledged receipt of the request but have subesequently never provided any information. Instead, they send letters every few months threatening "legal" action, doorstep collections etc. anything more I can do? perhaps phone them and get angry?!?
  6. I have received harrassment and threatening letters for the past 3 years, starting with 1st Credit, then Connaught Collections, then Mackenzie Hall and most recently Meritforce. Whilst nothing has ever actually happened, myself & my wife are still understandably distressed every time we open a letter from these people. I am seriously considering reporting them to Trading Standards and OFT, will this be enough?
  7. Has anyone else encountered harrassment from 1st Credit and their enforcers such as Connaught Collections? Back in 2005, when I was applying for a mortgage, I received a letter from 1st Credit completely out of the blue requesting I settle an account from Tesco Personal Finance for a loan approx £5440. I had no paperwork or recollection of ever having this loan amount from Tesco, so I decided to take precautions anyway. Tesco had no record. I sent a CCA letter, with help from my local CAB, and they acknowledged the letter but sent no copy of a financial agreement. Several months passed, then I receive another letter 'urgently' requiring payment or else, the usual story. This has happened ever since then, a letter turning up from 1st Credit every 4-5 months, then more recently Connaught and another 'ENFORCEMENT' company who are apparently 'authorised' doorstep home visitors. Whilst nothing has ever happened and I dont actually owe anything, I still feel harrassed, particularly when my wife opens the mail and is understandably distressed. This has been going on for 3 years and these morons at 1st Credit etc are causing unecessary psychological upset. Any suggestions??
  8. Today I have received a further letter from 1st Credit entitled 'Legal Proceedings'. I am now very concerned and worried because they have threatened to do the following: Court action Bailiffs County Court Judgement Substantial Legal Costs A formal charge against my house (yes I am a home owner) I still insist I have no trace of this debt, going back at least 6 to 7 years! When I received the first of these 'letters' from 1st Credit, I immediately tried to trace back the debt. The client, Tesco Personal Finance, had no record of my owing the money. I provided them with both current and previous addresses going back almost 10 years and nevertheless, I'm sure they would have chased this up years ago! My local Citizens Advice also asked 1st Credit for proof of the loan or debt, never received a written reply in nearly 2 years. Maybe I shouldn't panic just yet; I have found a similar letter to the above from November 2005, again no subsequent 'court action' or 'bailiff' actually happened. But I am concerned if the said 'debt' is on my credit file??
  9. Hi. Over the last 2 to 3 years, I have received a letter from 1st Credit once a year, requesting I contact them immediately regarding a £5500 approx. debt owing to Tesco Personal Finance. Upon receipt of the first letter, I rightly contacted Tesco to trace the account. They had no records of the outstanding account, even though I provided 2 different addresses going back at least 7 years. I contacted 1st Credit and told them to get a copy of the account information from the client (tesco) but no reply was ever sent. I receive these letters from 1st Credit every 6 to 12 months but nothing is ever actually done.
