  1. Hi, You just right click on a link you want to use and select "copy shortcut", then right click on where you want the link to go and select "paste". Hope this helps. Joe
  2. Hi , Here is the link your after. BBC NEWS | Business | Bank apology for charges letter Joe
  3. Hi Steve, I think everyone would agree with you regarding the way banks are run at the minute. I am currently with A&L at the moment but you still get charges like any other bank , and i am now at the court stage , claiming nearly £3000 back. I do get free postage on anything i send to the bank if i take the envelopes to the Post Office. I was originally with National Girobank which was state run until Maggie decided to sell it to A&L , cant remember if these charged me anything as it was that long ago , but i do remember i use to get weekly statements every time my wages went in. Joe
  4. Hi, No , all these letters deal with any sort of offer. You should be able to use one of these depending on what stage of the claim your at. I am at the court stage and was offered by A & L the difference between the £12 and their actual charge supposedly and i used letter 5. Hope this helps. Joe

  6. Hi AFC, I have just sent my cheque back with a rejection letter , as they only offered me less than %10 of my full claim. Joe
  7. Hi everyone, I sent the cheque back with rejection letter on Monday. Received defence papers from Wragge & co. on Tuesday morning , it seems like standard defence others have received but they mention the limitations act , and i haven't claimed any charges over 6 years old. Is this not a false accusation from the defence and is there anything i can do about it or is this on everyones defence papers. Joe
  8. Hi Chuppey , A&L usually send your DPA request out right on the 40 day limit as they probably know whats coming. I dont think a phone call would make any difference as they will just say they've got 40 days. The letter you probably saw was in the bank templates section and this can only be used if you dont receive your request by 40 days. I wouldn't worry too much about the Lloyds case in Birmingham as it can't set a precedent in a County Court , each case is judged on its own merit and cases have been settled in our favour since this. Good luck Joe
  9. Thanks Mimi, For putting my mind at ease, I thought they had singled me out for some reason.
  10. Thanks Mimi & Jess This is a section of the letter i received 16/05/07. Default charges may apply to current accounts when items are presented for payment whilst the account is in excess of its overdraft limit and are returned unpaid (bounced) and a fee is charged. We do not believe that the term applies to other types of fee. We believe that our charges have been made in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of your account, of which you have been given a copy. However having considered the particular circumstances of your case and taking into account the OFT review, in order to resolve this matter, we are prepared to offer the sum of £273 which includes the court fee of £120. Just wondering if anyone reads anything into this or wether it is just a standard letter as regards to the small offer as my charges were £1972.50 + £853 contractual interest + £120 court fee. Cheers Joe
  11. Thanks Younganfree. Just a quick update. Yesterday 18/05 i received a letter of Wragge & Co. stating their intention to defend the claim. Today 19/5 i received a cheque from A&L for the derisory amount of £273 out of a claim for nearly £3000 stating this is the difference between the charges and the £12 only on charges applied when i was already overdrawn. Rejection letter going on Monday. I also received a letter from another customer services person at A&L dated the day after the letter with the cheque saying they are sorry about the delay in dealing with my claim but will deal with it as soon as they can. I don't think they communicate with each other. Joe
  12. Hi blue , we seem to be at the exact same stage. I also received acknowledgement from Wragge & Co. today also signed be a trainee. I think they've took on a load of YTS trainees to cope with the influx of new claims. I wouldnt worry too much about the Lloyds case , it can't set a precedent in a County Court. Good luck with your claim. Joe
  13. Hi, I have received my copy of N1 back from the court and A&L have until the 30th May to reply , do i need to send anything off in the meantime or do i wait until they have acknowledged my claim. Will i receive a letter from the court or do i have to ring them up. Cheers Joe
  14. Hi Vodster, The address is Liverpool Civil & Family Court 35 Vernon Street Liverpool Merseyside L2 2BX England Phone No' 0151 296 2200 Good luck Joe
  15. Thanks Young. Just a quick question for anyone that could help me is that when i received my statements i received 6 1/2 years worth , so i sent off an L.B.A. for non-compliance on 19th April because i opened my account 20 years ago and they have not replied to this. I know i can file a claim with the court , but how would i prove that they do keep statement information for more than the 6 1/2 years. Joe
  16. Hi everyone, Having spent a few weeks reading up a lot of threads on this site , i decided to start my claim. I sent my S.A.R. on 5/2/07 and received my statements exactly 40 days later. I sent my prelim letter on 2/4/07 for charges of £1972.50 plus i decided to go for contractual interest of %17.08 after reading ROS's thread against A&L , which worked out at £853 using Mindzai's spreadsheet. A couple of days later i received standard get lost letter . Sent my L.B.A. on 23/04/07 and again received standard get lost letter. On 8/5/07 i filled in my N1 and took it to the local county court at Wigan including £120 court fee on my claim totalling £2945.50 , and am now just waiting for them to get back to me with a claim number. I have to admit it was a bit scary going into a court for the first time. Joe
