I'll make this brief but wouldn’t mind some advice! Some years (in the 90's) ago I had a Barclaycard with a 1k limit which I defaulted on. My a/c was passed to Cabot who I did make some payments to some years back (not sure how many though) however stopped those as I couldn’t afford them.

Anyway, I moved house, location and sorted myself out....then last summer I begin getting the usual letters from Cabot saying I owe 2.5k on that BCard. I know that their threats are empty so I binned the letters but they came, and came usual bailiff / court threats etc. So, I sent them a CCA letter over 2 months ago and had the std letters saying they are not obliged to provide info blah blah.....

They sent me 3 letters saying they are trying to get the credit ag from B'card but today I receive a letter saying:-

Cut short ( We have been unable to provide the requested info within the required period. We have worked hard to do so but the lender is unable to locate the info from their archives. Your a/c is on hold until further notice. However Please call us on ************ to discuss your payment options on your account.

Ha well I wasn’t born yesterday so I aint phoning them!

But....what should be my next step? It’s obvious that the agreement has been binned / lost by Barclaycard so this debt is totally un enforceable (unless they magic it back). Should I just let it lie and forget about these morons?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks, i'm not sure how long ago I last made a payment to them but it was a few years back. I'm guessing Barclaycard have lost the original it was so long ago so i'm just going to ride it out. Its laughable that they seem to think I owe 2.5k to them in the 1st place!

Its a shame these people can terrorise and scare people who dont know their rights (my g/f thought the bailiffs would be round to take everything after one of their lie letters to me!).....
