i owe over a 1000 pound in unpaid council tax.i am paying an attachment of earnings through my employer.i was paying £70 amonth up until about 2 months ago when the council wanted me to pay more.i only work 30hrs a week due to disability.i also recieve tax credits.i had a letter from a baliff put through my door i cant mention name but it is a credit service company.i have no intention of answering door to these people.i have sent a letter off your forum to the baliff and the council.i dont even know what year these apply to as there is no information all the letter says is i must pay within 24hours.can i contact council or do i wait for reply to the letter i sent.:?

Sounds like you're on the right lines. I would be very inclined to put a budget together (what your income is and what your outgoings are) just so you have the information to hand and then go speak to the CAB. Don't let any bailiff into your house and make sure you lock all the doors and windows.
