  1. Hello there,

I am separating from my partner and shall be leaving the property that we jointly rent at present.

My partner wishes to continue living here, but when we originally began renting the property, i was the only person earning on the application, as my partner was studying. She will begin a job shortly, but the pay is quite low so she'll be applying for housing and council tax benefit.

Are we going to suffer any potential problems with our letting agents in light of the above?

    Thanks.

  2. My dad is having his classic motorcycle restored by a restoration company.

Earlier this year, my dad was presented with an invoice that stated it was the final invoice for parts and labour to complete the restoration. My dad promptly paid this in advance.

Last week, the guy said he needed more money to finish the job.

Understandablely, considering the invoice clearly stated that is was the final invoice to complete the restoration work, my dad is quite upset.

Is there a legal position on something like this? And a letter that can be sent?

    Many thanks

    Mr Fish

  3. This is a used car - R reg - 11 years old and you bought it for less that a thousand pounds.

What are you really expecting here? if you wish to avoid all of the problems you seem to have try visiting a Ford dealership and purchase a brand new one for £8500 .

All I expect is for the description to be accurate. I don't expect to be mis-lead

If I had £8,500 I would buy a decent car.

  4. I completely agree. It's not the norm for me to ever do anything like this. I always look at cars first.

The wheel bearings I agree with, but sills don't rot through to that extent in such a time, not do bushes decay to the state they are in. There is no way it would have passed it's MOT in August. None.

The worst thing is that I've been in the trade for a number of years, hence why I feel like such a prize pillock now.

  5. Hello all

I did the cardinal sin and bought a car from eBay in mid-December, without viewing it first and trusted the description and feedback of the seller - which was 100% at the time.

Once I picked the car up the following faults were discovered: both wheel bearings were gone (someone had punched holes through the outer covers so they letter water in and grease out), exhaust back box was blown, spare wheel carrier is rotten through, front suspension bushes and ball joints worn and knocking heavily.

He had described some some surface rust, which is fine and can be repaired, but today I started fixing the bushes and discovered rust under the front sill I picked away at this and it is now a dirty rotten hole.

The car was MOT'd in August 2007, and I fail to see how it passed.

Please can someone advise me what my rights are on this. I'm furious and feel duped. Here is a link to the description: 1997 R REGISTRATION FORD KA 2 MAUVE/PURPLE 3 DOOR HATCH on eBay, also, Ford, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 18-Dec-07 20:15:00 GMT)

    Thanks guys.

  6. Said bottom feeder have now replied...

"Further to your recent letter, please send full details of your dispute, by return. Please enclose any copy documents which may back up your dispute. Please note, as we have now purchased this debt, we are now your creditor, not Capital One."

Anyone got a snotty retort they have used to good effect?

  7. Hello all

On 7th March 2007 I sent a CCA request to Capital One, after they had been harassing me by telephone, rejecting my requests for payments of charges etc. The total balance outstanding was £1400, of £350 was penalty charges.

As soon as this was delivered by recorded delivery, on 8th March 2007, I neither received any documentation, nor heard anything from them again.

Until yesterday... When I received a letter from our old friends Robinson Way, claiming they had bought the account and I owed them £1,700!!

I'm thinking I should write back to them stating that a CCA was sent to Capital One last year, and that the account is in dispute. Any other suggestions??

    Thanks as always...
