  1. Thanks F16, drinks on me if all goes well! Thanks for the support. I'll update as soon as I can after the inspector attends.
  2. I definitely agree. Thank you. I think the building inspector needs to be spoon fed otherwise they will miss really important things. Im going to bed now and will check the thread asap tomorrow. Thank you and goodnight.
  3. He did climb the roof the last time. When I tested it with the hose the first time after it started leaking, the roofer complained that it should not be tested with a hose, and it was only leaking because I used the hose. (it was in fact leaking from the rain initially)
  4. I could do it, but then it might completely soak the insulation and wreck the plaster board more. Is it still a good idea?
  5. They are all beaten flat. The one which I photographed was the worst. Shall I still photograph all of them?
  6. Yes I read it. Is this the checklist I need to raise with building control when they attend? 1. Guttering 2. Tile distance from windows 3. Flashing installation 4 Tile overlap 5. membrane not high enough on corner (from the pictures I attached earlier)
  7. I did enjoy it but this roof was still at the back of my mind. The inspector will attend with his colleague on the 1st May. I had emails from the roofer stating that he was giving me deadlines and that he was going to the court to enforce the order if I did not give him access, and that he had contacted the inspector and the inspector had told him I had refused them access. He also copied the inspector everything. I told the roofer that I was not refusing access to anyone, and that I wanted an inspection to be carried out first before any work was done. The inspector emailed the roofer and copied me in, and stated that I had only told building control to liaise with myself to arrange inspections and that all correspondence would be made with the roofer by myself. Basically the roofer is getting way too carried away here. So hopefully it looks like I am being cooperative (which I am trying to be) whilst still looking out for my own interests. The roof has stopped leaking now completely.
  8. Sorry F16, I overlooked your comment. I didn't mean to ignore it. The judge said that the roof was flawed from the beginning due to the pitch being unachievable without the windows being removed and made smaller. That was why he said that things had worked out better for us by not having to use smaller windows. I'll try my best not to push too hard.
  9. Hi F16. Sorry I have not posted for a few days. I just got back today from being away from home. I have received an email from the inspector saying he will inspect the roof shortly with another of his colleagues. The insurance company will send the policy documents as soon as they received it from the technical department. So it seems like things are moving along. I had suggested that the brickwork could have been reduced but from what I can remember the inspector said it was not possible as the RSJ above the patio doors was too big and high
  10. Hi Im sorry I havent posted for a bit. I am going to be away over the weekend and I have had to put on hold so many things because of this roof business. I am still waiting for the inspector to give me a date and the insurance company to get back to me. And I think my main computer has blown its power supply so I need to get that sorted ASAP. Thank you all for standing by me so far. It feels like the end may be near........hopefully
