I have worked in my job for 5 1/2 years I have been put through a course which I have to pay back if I leave within two years of doing the course which I am about to do! Due to not getting enough hours in my job I have had to seek new employment! My question is should my present employer allow me to set up a re payment schedule to repay the course? As I have heard in the past they have withheld employees final wage to recover course money? Can they legally do this ! I hope someone can help as am not sure where I stand with this

Update on my situation finally got final award with all amendments and overpayment sorted out!! Having told them of my earnings for last year only to find that on this years award they have not included my earnings honestly what a carryon!! So now I have to go back to them again think I am going to scream shortly !!!!

Hi there it seems from what I have heard and read that they only look at the year on the letter ( think if u don't co-operate with what they want to know ) they may then look further into it!! If u still waiting to hear I would start phoning them every other day that's what I did in the end with mine as the stress was to much for me ( still feel but shaken now ) and mine has been sorted now! Suppose after 2 months of stress it will take a while to chill out again! Don't make urself ill with worry it really doesn't help I should know !!! I hope it gets sorted soon

Yeah it is a relief!! Glad to hear urs has been finalised to!! No more silly mistakes for me I shall be double checking everything from now on!!! Will hopefully be in a position to work a lot more hours as my youngest is in p4 this year!! So here's hoping we have had our share of stress for this year !!

Most recent update is that I called today and td my award had been finalised!! Thank goodness for that !!! Should recieve paperwork soon!! It's not half as bad as I expected!! Still entitled to tax credits but obviously not as much because our earnings for last year were higher we have had all the tax credits we are entitled to from April till now but will start again nxt April but still getting our child tax credits with slight deduction !!! Am so relieved that it's over but will feel even better once paperwork here and it's all over!!! For anyone worried I would advise be straight with compliance team when u speak to them and don't try and pull the wool over their eyes!!! And most of all don't stress to much I have made myself I'll for past two months and it is so silly !! Hopefully in nxt week or so I will start to feel better!! Thank you to the people who replied on my post!!!!

Latest update is I checked my bank today and payments have gone down for a second time but still no mail!!! Can't understand this as when I phoned on Thursday it still had not been done ( surely they can't change it that quick ) !!! Am just a little frustrated as am verging on a nervous breakdown now payments have gone down about 50 a wk does that sound rite! Only thing is they also had my wage to take into account so not sure what I should have been getting before any overpayment is paid back ?????

Am going to have to try and relax a bit more about it all this week if I keep stressing am going to land up cracking!!! Just want to know what our overpayment is and how it will be take back!! I know at the end of the day it's my own fault for such a stupid mistake but if they only realised how ill they make people by dragging this on for so long !!! How much would they normally take back a week if we are still entitled to credits ??

Yeah I noticed that the same had happened on a few other threads!! Can I ask if anyone knows is it normal to have been waiting all this time to sort this out it's honestly driving me mad!!! I really have not been able to function for the past while!!! I just want everything sorted so I know where I stand with them !!!! 2 months of feeling like this worrying every day it's soul destroying !!

I totally feel for u! I am also waiting to hear back after a Compliance letter from them I phoned and spoke to someone straight away!! Told me it would be amended within two wks! Had never heard anything from them and after 4 further phone calls I finally spoke to a case worker who told me that the claim had been finalised but noone had used te new details Donahue could not understand why and was away to look into it all again!!! So 2 months later here we go again!! Phone them and explain about ur operation and ask if it has been dealt with yet! Hope all goes well with ur op

I don't think anyone is saying they are useless but they have a job to do and are quick enough on ur case if u are wrong yet if they make a mistake u are left stressing and they really dont give a dam!!! Two months now I have had this hanging over my head for a genuine mistake ( stupid one non the less ) but then someone in there department made a mistake and now am left waiting again for how long I don't know and the stress has had a big effect on me am off to the doctors today can't handle feeling like this anymore !!!! They need to overhaul their staff to do their job correctly !!!!

Honestly so stressed been 4 weeks since I spoke to the compliance team and they said it would be amended !!

It's the ongoing not knowing how much we owe or how much will be deducted or if we are entitled to anything at all anymore! Have phoned again today still nothing showing on the system they said that it has not been done yet! I did say that the longer it takes the more we owe is going to go up but they don't seem to interested!! Why is it taking so long I have given them the information they need they said but yet still not done ??

Still heard nothing from tax credits and in all this time I am still being over paid!! How long does this take to get amended? Am really losing it now don't think u can take any more stress

Update is still not had any amended award notice from tax credits and am still receiving my same payments!! I phones them last Friday and the call handler said it had been sanctioned to be amended , so how long does this take? This is ruining my life at the moment so worried

Think I will tomorrow ( it's only been four days since I called the compliance person ) was not sure if it would seem silly phoning so soon!!! Just stressing myself out that although in the phone call the lady told me not to worry that the award would be amended and my overpayment calculated , seems to simple , so keep expecting them to say they taking it further

Having another day of stressing about all this! Was wondering if I should phone and ask if it has been dealt with! I am away on Saturday to visit family for a week and am dreading feeling like this all week ?

Jings bet u will be glad when that is finally paid off! Feel much calmer today after phoning but won't feel 100% till have received all amended paperwork! Read some other cases on here and can say I know now exactly how they feel never been so worried in my life ( all cause I made a stupid mistake ) note to self; always check facts in future so no more mistakes! Hi thank you! I phoned them today and the lady I spoke to was very helpful and said I had to stop panicking and worrying!! I explained as I said above and she said she would now hand it back to the case worker! I asked her what would happen next and she said they would adjust the award and that we may have to pay back the overpayment ( thought it strange she said we may have to )!! She said we would have letters in the next 2 weeks ! Am hoping that this means no further action will be taken as she never mentioned anything else ? Would she have said if there would be ??

Need some advice feel like a criminal and so stupid! Phoned my tax credit renewal and then got a provisional award notice this was followed 3 days later by a letter from the compliance people!! Now this is where I have been stupid put in my husbands yearly earnings ( he is self employed ) then I never declared any earnings for mysel as I thought u had to be working for 12 hours to have to declare it ( I only work 11 a week ) now I realise am wrong can't beleive am so dumb! The letter says i did not declare any earnings but they see what I had earnt! Now it says I can leave it and they will then amend it and work out what am due and maybe a penalty or even court action if I have deliberately misled them!! Or I can call them and speak to them! I am so scared never had anything like this in my life before ? Will I go to jail or have to pay back the money ( or both ) please can someone give me some advice on wha to do I can't sleep , eat or function !!!! I feel disgusted in myself for making the mistake in the first place

The letter says I can either not contact them and they will amend my award accordingly and perhaps with a penalty or I can get in touch if I disagree !!!
