  1. Woohooo just been called by Curry finance team and after a quick chat have settled on a cheque being sent to me to the value of £800. This will cover me to get a new TV with the specs that they dont not have at this time in a Currys store. Nothing was said about the mis-selling of the policy origanally but I have weighed up both the value of the TV and the value of the policy and feel this is a fair deal and a great victory.
  2. Ok so I have been waiting for a reply from anyone from Currys (ie a phonecall, email). But while this has all been happening I have tried to speak to someone from Currys on facebook. Finally I have had a reply after I gave them some info. What does anyone make of this : Hi Sir, sorry to hear that you think we are being rude. Please accept my apologies that we have very high work volumes and we respond to everyone as quickly as possible. Having looked into your agreement I can confirm the price of your TV was £613.16 and the agreement was £7.99. Currently the TV if purchased at that price would be set at £6.99 per month. I am sorry that we hold no information after all this time on the levels that were in place at the time. - Lloyd. Now I have a problem, does that mean I was mis-sold (ie put into the wrong monthly payment) for the whatever happens policy or is he saying if exsisted today id have to pay 6.99 ?? The reason I ask this is because no actual policy (at that price exisist there £6 7 8 exactly). And they dont seem to be able to say they have any info to say yes I was or no I wasnt mis-sold.
  3. Have you got a technical name for the expansion port ? or even a pic at least then I could have an idea Thx. Lol makes you laugh lady dealing with my case has told me there is NO way they can check if I was sold the right policy at the time. Ie The value of the TV at the time of purchase (not the total purchase at the time) vs the £7.99 policy. The reason I asked for this information is that from reading this forums and others many much more expensive TV brought around the same time as me was as on the 7.99 policy. I am now even more worried about people who are buying into "KnowHow" policies as there is so much grey area I wont be making the mistake again.
  4. Currys dont sell them :/ So how can they sell you them or add vouchers to that value to spend instore ? Oh and now that I have spoken to someone in agreements and gave 3 examples of "Brand New" TV's that do offer 2 scart sockets and other spec that my original TV had they have passed all the information onto the claims investigation team. Even if they come back and suggest a scart splitter how can they offer you vouchers to cover the cost of purchase if they as a company dont even sell them ?
  5. I agree not many 2 scart TV's about, hence why I am looking for them to prove the exsist. They might be older stock etc etc. But if you had origanally spent £950 and get told to watch A you use the remote to change to scart to watch B you need to stand up switch this and then you can watch. Im sorry if it sounds picky, but I am more annoyed with the whole situation. How a TV gets written off for a button being faulty ? or cause currys dont stock that brand anymore ? Also the definition of like for like is being abused by Currys and therefore I wish to get as much as I can. Also the feeling that I was mis-sold a policy that wasnt worth the paper it was written on is also something I have learnt. So yes a switch maybe the answer but that has not even been suggested by a so called expert in Currys in all the time I have been dealing with them.
  6. OH a new update from Currys, I have been advised to put in a complaint saying they no longer stock a TV that would meet my specifications that I brought my original TV for. So did that and awaiting a reply from that. But at the same time I went through to Currys KnowHow Agreements team and after a chat and explaining what I need and what Currys dont have. I used a great way of saying things, I explained to the guy if you brought a 1000cc Car (no matter the make or model its 1000cc), but that breaks and you are then told thats fine we're replacing it with a 1100cc vehicle and you agree only to find that you now get given a motorbike, it dont quite meet all the specs you had origanally other than a better more powerful engine your knackered. (My way of explaining how they are saying my TV for 400 would be better cause it would be full HD not HD ready like my old one). I then get told by the guy that I should find TV's either in other stores or online (that are brand new) that would fit my specification. So far I have found a 37" TV with 2 scarts and a 40" with 2 scarts all be it they are a bit old (not as old as mine was) but they are band new and available to buy. But if anyone knows of a place that may sell a 42" with 2 scarts and 2 HDMI's min and are brand new id love to know so I can get even more of a price guide to give to them. Will see what happens next.
  7. Im not saying I will go and annoy them at the store, but once I had faulty 3 piece suite from World of Leather and while in store, wife was talking to the manager and I just started walking round the store and talkng to people and warning them about my experience. They soon wanted us to leave, and after 1 replacement which I then refused I got a full refund. Not the same as the above, but sometimes, showing that you can be pro-active can annoy and its sometimes easier for them to actually help than not help which seems to be the way atm with Currys. Lets see if the call from there "knowhow" people finally arrives. But I still need answers about being mis-sold a policy etc etc
  8. yes it does work out at that amount and is one of the reasons I am fighting the offer. 1) The TV originally was a deal I done with the store manager at the time. I bartered a whole package of Philips 42" lcd TV + Home Theatre surrond system and a stand for £949.00 This deal wasnt instore or even on a website afaik. The offer was for the TV and Home theatre. From memory the TV originally retailed at £1200 ish when it 1st came out, So the offer of a TV + the £330 valued Home Theatre was a great deal already but I pushed the boat and said to the store manager id do the deal if he could add the stand for free. 2) From what I recall of the original deal of TV/Home Theatre it was buy the TV get the HT free. 3) If the 7.99 covered the cost of the TV (value to replace) I was told that it would be £1000+ (ie original price). this is/has been one of my questions, what was the 7.99 valued at goods at the time. If it was for good of 1000-1250 as per the new £8 KnowHow policy does then was I possibly mis-sold the wrong cover for that TV ? 4) What what makes me laugh is the duty manager said "if you had a peugeot 206 and we offered you a 306 as a replacement you would take it" IE you had HD Ready your being offered Full HD. But I have just realised the flaw in this. "If I crashed my Mini, and was offered a Fiat, do I need to take it ?" In my eyes if they no-longer sell the make or spec then I have more rights to say what Id require as a min replacement not what they feel matches there like for like policy ?
  9. Ok so ill make this short and sweet with this story. Buy 42" lcd tv 6.4 years ago cover it at 7.99 a month on whatever happens TV on off button starts playing up. Ring up get tv picked up. Two days later call from someone saying TV written off, vouchers sent to replace. Vouchers arrive for £400. Look for a TV that will suit/replace the one we had. Now we hit problems. Old TV spec was that it has 2 hdmi and 2 scarts + other specs that are available now but not on the cheaper end or @ £400. So we argue/speak with a Duty manager at a currys store. He will look into increasing the vouchers (even though I had already spoken to someone on the phone and been told its a store managers discression/decision.) Anyway leave a day or 2, get back to Duty manager who has now passed on all the details to someone in the stores KnowHow team. So I agree thats fine and agree that I will definately get a call today from them. Waited till 3.30pmish and think ok I will just ring instead. ROFL, the person isnt even scheduled to work today so how was I going to be rang back when I have evidence that I was promised to recieve a call ? Here are a few question maybe others can answer for me. When I took out the 7.99 a month cover for my TV what was the value of the good (TV) that this covered as there new policy are £ 6 7 or 8 a month and 8.00 covers TV to the value of £1000-£1250 (as per the T&C on there website). In the small print there is nothing that says you as a customer may refuse the amount offered, or they at no point state that you agree to any decision they make. So as I stated to the Duty Manager, I do not except the offer of £400 and therefore would like my TV returned to me and then I purse it in a different way. They explain that this isnt possible. So who owns my TV ??? isnt it my decision if they offer to replace my goods that I am fit to ask for it to be returned so I can get rid of it in my own manner ? (hope that makes sense). What is "LIKE for LIKE" or what does it constitute when it comes to TV's Size, make, spec etc etc Cause all the Duty Manager was going on about is my old 42" was HD ready so ANY fullHD TV of same size is better, nothing else but that 1 spec. Really getting annoyed now and soon will start other approaches to get this sorted instore as that can be very pro-active when you start making a noise inside and outside of a store
  10. I agree with you dx but I need to know what im going to say to OFT/FoS as to why Capquest have broken X,y,z rules etc etc and therefore I shouldnt be getting these letter etc etc. Then hopefully this will be done once and for all (or at least a while)
  11. If anyone could give me some details as I asked above then I could get the ball rolling. Thanks
  12. Have you got a standard complaint letter ??? If not, what am I complaining about, why etc etc. Link to there website for address aswell if possible Then ill just write a cover letter to CQ and enclose a copy of what I sent to OFT Thanks in advance
  13. capquest190712.pdf Seems that CQ are still coming for there monies :/ So who what where do I do next. Last post said something about contacting OFT and FOS ? Also could do the break down of the amount as there are still charges (about £100) that should be taken off from my calculations. Help on this matter is appreciated.
  14. capquest270612.pdf Got to love this new letter. Mayb at this rate I will have nothing to pay by the end of they year with all the discounts they keep offering. Lol roll on the next letter
  15. capquest060612.pdf Got to love this letter after there recent telephone conversations hit a brick wall of silence and only one responce of "Please refer to earlier correspondence's". Am I correct in reading that now they have offered a discount, the rules of the debt have changed or something along them lines ??? Thanks
