  1. Hi i'm having a problem with equita /council tax, i now owe them £727 after paying them for the last 3 years at a rate of £20 a month, but i defaulted back in September last year and they refused to allow me back onto a payment scheme,i'm registered disabled and also on benefits. In this case the Council should have been getting payment direct from your Benefits - approx £3-30 per week. Do they know about your status Yes,they know my status,i tried everything in the early days of this debt to get them to take this back and deduct from my benefits, but to no avail. My main problem is,i got up today to find a Form 7 put through my door listing my vehicle details and saying that they will sieze it in the next 24hrs,firstly its my car but is registered as a disabled car with a blue badge and disabled tax disc, i have not signed this form, where do i stand as for them taking it also now i have received this form would i be able to move my car somewhere else without getting into trouble. Is your vehicle through Motability? Even if not the giveaway to the bailiff is: a - you tax disc as that is marked as such b - do you leave your blue badge on show You should email Equita initially informing them of your vehicle and also asking them to remove the Levy and all associated charges. You should back this up with a letter to them. See what they reply before going any further. My vehicle is not through motability, but is registered through D.V.L.A as disabled. a-My tax disc does state the class as disabled. b-I normally dont leave my blue badge on display but i have done so tonight. I'm in the middle of contacting Equita now to advise about my vehicle and will follow up with a letter as advised. Thanx for your help.

  5. Hi I hope I'm posting this in the right forum, plz feel free to move it to the correct place. The problem I've got is i bank with the Halifax and my card has been used fraudulently (card stopped and replaced) to the princely sum of £185 now I've let the bank know and its been passed onto the Halifax fraud team,i have contacted them to see how long this will take to sort out and how will i go about getting my money back, their reply were we are extremely busy we need to send a form to you to fill out. What my query is has it happened to anyone else, how long do these things usually take or is there a time scale they have to abide by. Also nothing has been mentioned about me getting my money back,is there anyway of sorting this. All help is much appreciated
  6. Hi i'm new to all but need some help, A few yrs ago my wife and i fell behind with our council tax sorry cant help with the amount as bailiffs and council have not got back to me yet, we set up an agreement with Equita to pay £20 a month(am on benefits) due on 11th of each month.I used to pay them directly over the phone but in december i were late paying cos of xmas etc n so paid via the post office and have done so ever since, all other payments are upto date, but every month without fail since then they visit my home and post a hand delivered letter telling me they are coming back to remove my goods, i have never signed anything or even met them face to face, but when i contact the bailiff by phone he says u have defaulted and its always at the end of the month and thats the reason for the visit, when i explain i have all my reciepts and that they are all stamped by the post office and can prove it he says dont worry about it just keep paying the way u are. I have contacted the council detailing all this hassle asking them to take the debt back. They say all my payments are upto date and are not willing to take it back. What i'm concerned about is all the fees that they may have charged me per visit, today were the 3rd visit this year, not to mention all the stress it causes me each time. Sorry if it seems a little long winded. Please Help!!
